Great trip!
March 19, 2026by: Matthew E Messier - United StatesHad a great trip to Italy. I met a ton of people from all over the world and we worked together educating about issues around refugees. We worked during the day and had fun at night and on the weekends. I am still in touch with many of the people I volunteered with. Thanks
Connect with the girls from the Women empowerment program
February 23, 2026by: Donna PeevskaIt was amazing to connect with the girls from the Women empowerment program, to see their smiles and how they are gaining more confidence in speaking with foreigners. I was impressed by the high level of English teaching and other projects done by the local community. And also, I felt so warmly accepted by everyone.
Teaching proper healthcare and hygiene was a very fulfilling experience.
March 12, 2025by: Shayden HiebertTeaching proper healthcare and hygiene techniques and interacting with the school children in the community was so much fun and a very fulfilling experience. Also, getting the chance to observe how healthcare is practiced in another country was incredible, and being able to witness live surgery up close was absolutely amazing. Lastly, getting a chance to meet open and spontaneous people from all over the world was truly incredible and I made many friends with whom I will keep in touch with now that I'm back home again!
Hi Shayden Thank you for sharing your experience! It sounds like you had such a rewarding and eye-opening time. Teaching, connecting with the kids, and witnessing live surgery, what an amazing mix of learning and impact. We're also so glad you got to meet such a great group of people from around the world, those friendships are such a special part of the journey. Thanks for being part of the program and bringing such great energy to it! -GoEco Team
The experience was amazing.
March 02, 2025by: Nitzan HarrisThe experience was amazing. In my opinion it is important to contribute and on the way to enrich your knowledge about the world, not just to be a tourist in the country. I saw the differences between the hospital in Sri Lanka versus home and it was very meaningful!
Hey Nitzan. Thanks so much for sharing! We're really glad to hear you had such an amazing experience. It’s so true, there’s something really special about giving back and learning along the way, rather than just passing through as a tourist. Seeing the differences firsthand, especially in a hospital setting, definitely gives you a new perspective. So glad it was meaningful for you! 💚 Cant wait to see where your next adventure takes you. - GoEco Team
We had an amazing week bonding with the animals and the staff!
February 19, 2025by: Nicole HeadProgram: Family Volunteer Vacations
After a week there, about 300 people came for a tour from cruise boats. My 13 and 15 year old sons were knowledgeable enough to lead tours. It was amazing to watch. They knew a lot about the animals and their stories, why/how they were being cared for at the reserve, and what tourists could do to help better the experience of local wildlife. We had an amazing week bonding with the animals and the staff!
The kindness of the locals and hospital staff made it a memorable experience.
January 19, 2025by: Mahak javid virkThe kindness of the locals and hospital staff in Sri Lanka made it a memorable experience during my stay. I also made friends and explored the beautiful country in a short time, taking many memories with me.
Like help old people
August 23, 2024by: Mohamed Marei - EgyptI love helping the old people , and I love those who do this because it gives them a spirit of life and enhances their psychology for the better. I also love animals and playing with them gently and I hope that I will enjoy this volunteering because it will have a great impact on my psychological state
Truly authentic volunteer experience
March 27, 2024by: Jeremy Ebersole - United StatesMy experience with VFP way back in 2009 was remarkable. Living in Germany and building a labyrinth at a World Heritage Site as the only native English speaker in my group was a truly immersive experience. I didn't feel like I was coming into a place from the outside so much as I felt part of a community. Our group really bonded and while we had a primary task, many of the day to day decisions were made by the group, one of my first experiences with really being responsible for myself.

I tear up just thinking about it
December 28, 2023by: KelseyI loved taking the disabled shelter dogs out onto the grass area at the shelter. They always get so incredibly happy and enjoy the space. It was beautiful watching the dogs go from tentative to running around like crazy with utter joy. I tear up just thinking about it.

Amazing healthcare experience with Life Support Ambulance!
July 29, 2022by: Stephanie De Lima - United StatesWonderful experience with Life Support Ambulance Services. Great medical office, educational and warm experience from start to finish. Great experience!!
July 23, 2022by: CC Gooden - United StatesMy time volunteering abroad was absolutely amazing. It was so great to meet other volunteers and live with a host family. It was a great way to travel while also being able to get patient care experience and to help those who appreciate it.
The staff were like another family
November 13, 2019by: Sultan RizaveliEverything is great. I loved the clinic but wanted a more hands on experience and the staff did a great job by making my dreams come true. I actually got to educate children about dental health thanks to them :) The accommodation was great, but would be better if there was air conditions. Our rooms were always getting cleaned so that's great. The food was also very very good! I loved it so much. The transportation was easy to the clinic options to take ferry and bus and the transfer from the airport - house was nice and well organized. The staff is always there for you. I don't want to call them staff, more like family. The tours and excursions was so nice, the staff helps you with everything so its safe and well organized. I went out to cafes, walks, shopping and hanging out with friends as well as boat tours when I stayed in the country.
Palliative care day was amazing
November 09, 2019by: Katie BucukeyI was very satisfied with the program especially with teaching in cardiology. The NICU was very helpful. Learnt a lot and also the differences between healthcare systems. Palliative care day was amazing. I have no complaints with the accommodations and the food was delicious! Thank you. I also had no issues with the transport. The bus and uber to the site and home each day.
Communication with staff was nice
November 05, 2019by: Haley van den BurgI had an incredible experience volunteering in India. I learned a lot about the special education system and what it is like to live with a disability in India, and the VJ staff was super supportive and helpful in creating effective lesson plans. I am so grateful for this experience. The house was beautiful and provided everything I needed while in India! The food was delicious. I actually don't think I ate anything that I didn't like :) I don't know how I'll survive at home without potato curry and kerala bread. I got to placement quickly and efficiently by tuktuk, however, I wish that transportation was included in the program cost (even if this means increasing the cost). When I was going to placement alone both morning and afternoon, my transportation cost was Ro: 140 per day. The cleaning was perfect, no complaints!. The staff was helpful with all issues, project related or not :) It was easy and affordable to arrange weekend trips! I loved the toddy bar experience. Everything was great and easy to arrange with the staff! Thank you!
Learned so much
November 03, 2019by: Haley van den BurgDear Ridhi, Geetha, Anju, Aiswarya, and Sheetai, it is difficult to put into words what my four weeks here and all of you have meant to me. Before coming to Kerala, I could not have predicted that I would learn, how much I would grow as a person, all of the delicious food that I would eat, and all of the wonderful people I would meet. I feel so blessed to be supported and led by such a badass team of beautiful women though it all. I can't thank you enough for everything you do to keep programs running smoothly and for making Rainbow House a home away from home for all of us. I can't believe how fast my time here has gone, but I will go home with so many memories of this beautiful place to treasure. I am so grateful for you all and hope that we get to cross paths again.

Eyeopening healthcare volunteer opportunity!
January 22, 2018by: Samantha Poehler - United StatesMy trip to India was so eyeopening. Being able to experience life in a developing country and see how much different it is from life in the United States was an amazing opportunity that I will never forget. While volunteering in a clinic located in the slums, I was able to check vitals and collect symptoms. While the language barrier was difficult, I was able to learn a lot from the local doctors and gain more patient care experience. I also got to travel in the afternoon and on the weekends, which was super nice because I definitely feel like I was able to make the most out of my trip to India. I was able to meet other volunteers and interact with the locals too, which was fun! I would definitely take another trip through IVHQ!
