RECRUITING NOW! Our Volunteering in Hospitals in Ghana placement is based in a hospital or clinic in Cape Coast, and participants assist doctors and nurses as they care for low-income patients. This is a fully functioning hospital supporting the communities around Cape Coast and, like any hospital, there are injuries, ailments, and diseases presenting themselves every day. There is a range of departments such as medical, surgical, gynecology, surgical, and the children’s ward as well as public health and dentistry. Medical volunteers can contribute through observational work, triage tasks, taking vitals and anthropometric measurements, treating injuries, shadowing nurses and doctors, sitting in on surgeries, and cleaning and preparing instruments, taking blood, and educational activities. Tasks will depend largely on experience. Volunteers who are studying or have finished a course related to health, nursing, dentistry, or medicine are preferred participants for this project. Those who are considering a career in medicine are also welcome to join. A flexible attitude is a must as well as a willingness to learn and participate wherever needed.

The Real Uganda's volunteers assist our partners with a variety of empowering community-based activities. Volunteers split their time between these locally requested interventions: Public health and clinical work: Volunteers work in rural clinics providing testing, treatment, counseling services, and prevention education. Nutrition, vegetable gardening, and community sanitation programs are also ongoing. We aim to support rural public health in Uganda. Teaching and childcare: Volunteers work in rural classrooms, choosing what ages and topics to teach. Art and sport are the most popular. Traditional teaching in Uganda is rote learning and memorization. We aim to encourage teamwork, fun, creativity, literacy, and general knowledge in primary schools. Organic farming: Volunteers work alongside women and community members to maintain gardens. Volunteering in Mukono offers a unique opportunity to give back to rural communities through participation in grassroots projects. On top of this, you will gain an insight into the daily living conditions of locals. As a volunteer, you will experience traditional Ugandan life and take part in daily activities. These include helping in construction and building, visiting elderly villagers, teaching children outside their classrooms, assisting in setting up vegetable gardens, giving youth health talks, teaching English to high school students, feeding animals, and organizing health outreach programs. Ssamba Foundation operates in rural communities where dirt roads turn to sticky mud when it rains and into dust when the climate is dry. The main transport is Boda- Boda bikes, which share the road with animals and bicycles. Like a big part of Uganda, these communities have households struggling to meet their basic needs; much less putting their kids in school. Their main sources of income include small-scale animal rearing, selling fruits and vegetables, brickmaking, and other manual labor jobs.

Our Generation Voluntary Organisation offers a weeks-long volunteer program placement in the medical or nursing fields in Ghana. Participants will work directly with doctors and nurses to treat patients in different areas of the country. While skillful or qualified nurses and doctors assist in the provision of day-to-day treatments of illness, medical and nursing students are given the opportunity to work in different departments, including pediatrics, maternity, mental health, and surgery. Program Description (Empower Through Education Program) The Empower Through Education Program is a new initiative by Bring Hope for Children Tanzania (BHCT), based in Mwanza, Tanzania. This program is dedicated to enhancing academic performance among children through targeted instruction in English and key subjects, including Mathematics, Science, and Civic Education. Targeting primary and lower secondary students in underprivileged communities, the program offers free after-school and weekend learning sessions. It is especially designed to support children who are struggling academically or lack access to quality learning environments. Through interactive lessons, trained local tutors and volunteers help improve students’ language fluency, comprehension, and core academic skills. The goal is to increase students’ confidence, improve their school results, and foster a stronger learning culture within their families and communities.
