Such a special place for me ♥️ I volunteered there for 2 weeks and fell in love with all the animals! They are truly fascinating and so well taken care of by the kind and knowledgeable staff that works incredibly hard to make sure that the animals are healthy and happy. If you get a chance to visit or to volunteer, definitely do so. It will be a true enrichment and a fun time getting to know each animal. Being so close to them is magical. I can't wait to go back!

Studying abroad with Toucan Abroad in Costa Rica was the best experience I’ve ever had. I got to meet so many different people and experience things I had never done before. I was adventurous and outgoing and honestly a completely new person. We got experience shadowing PTs in different clinical settings and since it wasn’t in the US, we got to actually interact with the patients. I learned so much and had a great time doing it as well. On top of gaining shadowing hours, we also did so many amazing things on our weekend trips. I went ziplining, rode ATVs through a storm in the jungle, went on a party boat in the ocean, went surfing, and so many other awesome experiences. I will never forget my time with Toucan Abroad and I am so grateful that I got to do it. I am still talking to our study abroad group today and we are hoping to have a reunion soon.

I really loved studying abroad in London. I was able to be the student blogger so I had lots of time to reflect on my trip and I fell in love with London everyday. The housing was good and so was the location. The activities were all very enriching but the classes could use a little more structure. I would totally recommend this program to every student.

Such a good start into Mandarin. Classes with Ray were intense but fun, and he's incredibly patient. You learn stuff you really need day to day. My private lessons with Yawen took us to museums, which was a great way to practice talking even as a total beginner. On top of that there are lots of free activities like calligraphy or mahjong, plus lunches with the class where you learn all the food words. The team is young and lovely. Would 100% come back, just for longer next time.

Being here for 6 weeks has allowed me to see much of Tokyo and experience real culture. Also being here for so long allows for days to rest so you don't have to be out all day like you would be if you was here on holiday. SEKAIA events that have been held have allowed me to meet people that have made me enjoy my time here even more than I thought I would as I can experience new things with new people. Also being able to have an internship in Tokyo on my resume will be great for my career and set me apart from others when trying to get a job, and it provides some idea into a working environment in the career I chose. Q: What was the most nerve-racking moment and how did you overcome it? A: The most nerve-racking moment would be at the very start and that is moving to the other side of the world and living alone for the first time, especially in a country where I don't speak the language or know my way around. The way I overcame this would be by just doing it as I knew this would be the experience of a life time for me and would help me figure out and learn new things about myself. I was scared but I have wanted to do this for a while and if I didn't do it then I knew I would regret it. Pros - New culture - New scenery and different experiences - Memories for a life time What other participants should know - Can be lonely at times if you don't meet anyone - Can be expensive as there are a lot of things to buy - Sometimes miss home and things that are familiar

Bali is one of those places that is simply, utterly, and undeniably special. From its breathtaking natural beauty and inviting culture to its delicious food and the warmth of its people, this destination is truly magical. I was beyond nervous to go on this adventure because although I had been to Bali before and knew how much I loved the island, I was going to be spending my days with people that I had never met before. Within the first 24 hours of my journey beginning all of those worries of potentially not fitting in with my fellow peers or feeling anxious about what was to come had vanished. Everyone immediately was beyond thrilled to walk across rice fields to get to yoga class, be greeted with warm encounters from locals, and be able to have such a blessed beautiful day. I knew this experience was going to be something special. We spent our days learning about one another and immersing ourselves in Balinese culture, moving our bodies, experiencing the indescribable excitement of surfing, and embracing every opportunity to connect, laugh, dance, and sing together. What made this program so extraordinary was that it became so much more than just a study abroad experience. I gained incredible friendships, meaningful connections, new perspectives, and knowledge that I will carry with me long after returning home. More unexpectedly, I learned so much about myself. I stepped outside of my comfort zone, grew in ways I never anticipated, and left with a greater appreciation for connection, culture, and the beauty of saying yes to new experiences. Every individual who took part in this program brought something unique and special to the experience. What began as a group of strangers quickly became a community, and by the end, we genuinely felt like a family. It is rare to find yourself surrounded by so many people who are equally excited to explore, learn, grow, and embrace life together. If there is one thing I could say to anyone considering the Bali Summer Program, it would be this: Just go. Say yes to the experience, the friendships, the unexpected moments, and the opportunity to discover more of the world and yourself. You will never regret it

At first I was very nervous about being in a country and culture that was completely different from my own. But the Rome AIFS team were amazing and the freedom I was given allowed me to grow so much as a person. I had never been by myself in another country before and now all I want to do is get back out there. I had to be accountable for myself in my school work and personal life. But the AIFS team were always there if I had any questions or concerns. The first week was an adjustment period but after that Rome felt like home and was quickly able to get navigate the city alone without any maps. I also got to travel to other countries and meet so many amazing people. I think this program was more then worth it and encourage others to take the leap into it.

I never thought that studying abroad was going to be for me. As a student on scholarship and graduating a year early, studying abroad for a whole semester was out of the question. Yet, I also didn't want to sacrifice possible internship opportunities during the summer that would have helped me get a job. This program was perfect for me as I got all of the benefits of studying abroad without having to sacrifice anything. Additionally, the program was super flexible with their excursions, which was perfect for a busy student like me. I got to have the support of their team while also getting to feel like I was an adult professional in a foreign country. I couldn't have asked for a better group and a better time abroad and thank you AIFS Berlin for making it all happen.

My three-month experience in Kosovo, where I had the opportunity to intern at the Office of the President, was truly unforgettable, both professionally and personally. During my internship, I had the chance to work alongside incredible people in a stimulating and welcoming environment. I was particularly lucky to share this experience with another Isla intern. Together, we had the opportunity to contribute to projects and discussions on topics that are especially close to my heart, particularly gender equality. One of the highlights of my internship was taking part in a large-scale Women, Peace and Security Forum, which was an inspiring and enriching experience. These professional opportunities allowed me to deepen my knowledge, develop new skills and gain valuable insights into issues I am passionate about. I left the internship having learned so much, with a stronger understanding of my field and a very rewarding professional experience. Beyond the professional aspect, this programme offered so much more. We regularly took part in cultural activities and excursions, which allowed us to discover Pristina, explore different parts of Kosovo and learn more about the country’s history, culture and traditions. These moments were just as meaningful as the internship itself and created memories I will cherish for a long time. Finally, I cannot emphasise enough how wonderful the people behind this experience were. The programme organisers were incredibly kind, supportive and attentive throughout our stay. Their dedication, thoughtfulness and enthusiasm made us feel welcome from the very beginning and helped make this experience so special. I am truly grateful for this opportunity and would wholeheartedly encourage anyone considering this programme to take part. It is an experience that goes far beyond an internship!

My eight weeks in Prishtina, Kosovo, through ISLA were an experience I will never forget. I arrived excited to gain professional experience and learn about a new culture, but I left with so much more than I expected. During my internship at the Kosovo Women's Network, I had the opportunity to contribute to research and archival projects focused on women's rights, climate policy, and gender equality. I developed valuable skills in research, writing, and archival organization while learning from an organization doing meaningful work to support women across Kosovo. Beyond my internship, what made my experience so special was the opportunity to actually live in Prishtina and become part of everyday life there. From spending afternoons at cafés and exploring the city to cooking with my landlord, Dije, and making llokuma, some of my favorite memories came from the simplest everyday moments. My housemates, friendships, and the people I met along the way made Kosovo feel increasingly like home. ISLA gave me the opportunity to grow both personally and professionally while immersing myself in a culture and community I might never otherwise have experienced. I would wholeheartedly recommend this program to anyone looking for more than a traditional study abroad experience. Eight weeks went by far too quickly, and Kosovo will always hold a special place in my heart. It truly became a second home.

Program: Customized Internships & Spanish Immersion at the Beach

I had a wonderful experience with Linguistic Horizons this summer (2026). I was matched with a company for an internship, where I did business administration and marketing for a surf school/shop. I worked there Monday through Friday four hours per day, and then also had classes Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday nights. I was matched with a class and professor based on my Spanish level. The program also included unbelievable excursions to other places in Galicia, my favorite being the Fragas do Eume national park. Nicole, the program director, is extremely kind and organized! Unfortunately I fell very ill to food poisoning during the summer, and she was able to help me get care at the local urgent care hospital very easily. She was always doing whatever she could to make sure we were making the most out of our experience, whether that was taking us out for food or suggesting local hotspots to try. La Coruña is an amazing city filled with gracious people. I was able to gain valuable internship experience, improve my Spanish level tenfold, and gain an unbelievable life experience. I fully suggest this program to anyone wanting to have an abroad experience, whether you want an internship or classes or both. Not only was it an amazing experience, but also one that I am now able to talk about in interviews and on my resume as I currently job search. There is also always something to do in Coruña, with everything from free public concerts to food festivals. Go to La Coruña with Linguistic Horizons, you won't regret it!

In the summer of 2025 I traveled to Tokyo on a study abroad program through the same company. We studied communications in foreign environments and group communication. Although I know some Japanese already it is not enough to hold complex conversations so there were many situations we had to think on our feet and find tools to help us navigate Tokyo. It was an amazing learning experience and opportunity.
