I'm a current intern placed in Cusco, Peru through IVHQ, doing marketing and communications with a local organization. The process from application to arrival was clear and well organized, and the support has been genuinely responsive. The placement itself has been the highlight: meaningful work, a great host organization, and an experience that's pushed my Spanish from conversational to fluent. What I enjoyed most about the Human Rights & NGO Support internship in South Africa was the people and the overall experience of being in a new environment. I appreciated working with supportive colleagues and being around others from different backgrounds, which made the experience more meaningful. This internship helped me grow personally by making me more open-minded and independent. Professionally, I gained experience in communication, teamwork, and working on real projects. The internship also helped confirm my interest in international development and gave me a better understanding of how the field works.
