High School Outdoor Education Programs in France

Adventure through Europe with us and get a real backpacking experience as we navigate from Italy through Switzerland to Paris! Our approach is rooted in the classic backpacker strategy—get a rail pass, explore cities with various daily choices, and leave ourselves open to the spontaneous possibilities that every day brings. Our Older Teens trips are specially designed with older teens in mind. They are all about a hands-on approach to travel where we go beyond the casual tourist experience, take public transportation, and learn how life is in each place we visit. They provide a unique and carefully crafted itinerary that allows for more challenges and independence. We encourage teens on these trips to learn how to use a Eurail pass along with other handy travel skills so that they become confident and able to take on even more of the world in the future! This is one of our most popular Older Teens trips and combines a great mixture of classic European cities, mountain adventure, and Mediterranean beaches. Those looking to discover a nice mix of European cultures will love experiencing the best Italy, Switzerland, and France has to offer.

In Nice, you will live in a modern student apartment, in the beautiful Old Port neighborhood, in the very heart of town. Every student chooses two classes as their academic focus: a major and an elective. The French major class meets every morning Monday to Friday while electives meet three afternoons a week. Electives include French Conversation, Photography, Sports, and Studio Art. Abbey Road provides three meals a day of high-quality food through a variety of venues. We often cook together using traditional French recipes. On some nights we go out for group dinners. In any case, our students eat authentic, quality food, as opposed to fast food or tourist meals. Our teaching method emphasizes active, hands-on learning, cultural and language immersion. Most of our French classes include interacting with locals, practicing French, and small group French conversation workshops. The program also offers a great variety of cultural, educational, athletic, and travel activities. You will visit some of the most beautiful destinations on the French Riviera: St. Jean, Beaulieu, Monaco, Eze, Antibes, Cannes, and many others.

On this semester abroad, you study as you travel! Along the way, you will enjoy delicious cuisine and uncover the inner layers of many cultures. Our journey takes us through Western Europe, with each destination acting as the perfect academic backdrop to explore the reasons we act, govern, and live in today's world. This semester will open your eyes when you see works of art in the Louvre, climb the peaks of the Swiss Alps, walk through the markets of Florence, and visit the Berlin Wall. This semester will send you home with the experiences of a lifetime, and a deeper understanding of who you are. This "city of lights" is filled with so many opportunities to visit famous monuments and landmarks, royal palaces, the lavish parks, endless wide avenues, ancient fortresses, world famous galleries – there is so much to see and do in the French capital. Discover Paris this summer and study with international students from around the world. Located in Issy les Moulineaux (bordering the 15th Arrondissement) in a modern campus close to the Exhibition Park of Porte de Versailles, the school is near the Corentin Celton underground station. This is a highly supervised vacation and teens will not be permitted to roam the city on their own.
