High School Experiential Learning Programs

In order to truly explore the culture of a distant land, experiential learning programs will take you through city streets and dusty roads, from museums and monuments to folk traditions and grassroots projects benefiting local communities. Whether you are just starting to pick up a second language or well on your way to fluency, experiential programs will be a great opportunity to practice your conversation skills. The depth of cultural experience you’ll gain simply cannot be matched by staying home and reading a textbook!

A culturally-immersive experience abroad is sure to impress college admissions counselors and future employers alike, as well as provide some valuable insight about what you might like to major in. Writer’s block won’t be a problem when it comes to college admissions applications with some cultural experience under your belt either; you will be bursting with enthusiasm recalling the time you were inspired by the diversity of plant and animal species in the cloud forest of Costa Rica, when you were awestruck by the architectural marvel that is St Peter's Basilica, or even that time when you had an enlightening conversation with a local spoken with a blend of English and Mandarin that changed the way you see the world!

Before immersing myself into the TOCA study abroad program I had no prior experience studying abroad. It was incredible. Studying abroad with TOCA has allowed me to meet new people, experience a new culture and GROW. TOCA's immersion program is exactly how it sounds, immersive. I spent my days in Seville, Spain with a personal homestay family and classes to go to courtesy of Centro MundoLengua. My experience living with a homestay family was different, but awesome as they are the most welcoming, kind, and supportive people you can meet. My family spoke only Spanish so obviously there were some awkward moments, but thats where the magic happens. Day by day you are able to increase and expand your vocabulary in this foreign, yet welcoming place. This is only enhanced by through the entertaining tour guides. My main tour guide Paula was so welcoming and happy to show us around the many attractions and activities in Spain. These attractions were truly breathtaking and to this day I still remember the joy and awe I felt while experiencing them the first time. All of this is topped off with the wonderful teachings of Centro MundoLengua's Juan Alberto. Learning a new language can be daunting and even difficult at times, but learning through Centro MundoLengua and having Jaun Alberto as my teacher made learning Spanish fun, interactive, and easy to digest. Overall I rate TOCA a 10/10 and if you're thinking about studying abroad they are an amazing pick.

A once in a lifetime experience

Not only did I have an amazing time in Spain with TOCA, it shaped me as the person I am today. I made long lasting friends and memories I’ll never forget and I couldn’t have done it without TOCA and their incredible staff. I am forever grateful to this program.
