High School Language & Cultural Immersion in China for Teens

summer in Beijing with GAC's high school program was unforgettable. As a 16-year-old traveling alone, I felt incredibly safe and supported by the friendly coordinators. My host family was wonderful, patiently helping me practice Mandarin every day. We had engaging language classes in the morning and spent afternoons exploring iconic sites like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City with new friends from around the world. I returned home not only with better Chinese but with more independence, confidence, and lifelong memories

The high school program in Beijing was my first time abroad alone. Between fun language classes, exploring historic sites with new friends, and the warmth of my host family, I gained confidence and independence I never knew I had. It was the perfect blend of learning and adventure.

Going to China with GoAbroadChina was my first trip outside my country as a high school student. At first, I felt nervous and shy, but I quickly made friends and started to feel comfortable. In the mornings, we had Chinese language classes, and in the afternoons, we joined fun cultural activities. I learned to write Chinese characters and even gave calligraphy a try—it was really cool! We visited amazing places like the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, which felt like walking through history. I stayed with a local family who welcomed me like one of their own. They were kind and always happy to share their culture and daily life with me. After the trip, I felt more confident and open to new things. My Chinese speaking got way better in just a short time. This program was the perfect mix of learning, adventure, and fun.
