Participate in an internship on a Japanese farm in exchange for complimentary accommodation and meals. These placements are available on Sado Island and in Okinawa. The farms on Sado Island are primarily small, family-run operations focused on growing rice, fruits, and vegetables. In Okinawa, farms cultivate a variety of regional and seasonal products, including (sweet) potatoes, tropical fruits, vegetables, and spices. Tasks involve intensive work, especially during planting and harvesting seasons, but vary depending on the season. Furthermore, you require the correct visa. Many nationalities can enter Japan visa-exempt for up to 90 days under a Temporary Visitor Status. Citizens of the UAE are visa-exempt for 30 days. The Global English/Español Training Programme is Peace Boat's English and Spanish school. On our voyages, this programme is run by international teams of passionate volunteer teachers who inspire our students to use language to make connections with people from all over the world. Peace Boat's language training programme, GET, is now accepting applications for English and Spanish language teachers for the 124th Global Voyage until April 17th, 2026, close of business JST. Although Japanese students learn English in primary school, the education system places more emphasis on reading and writing than on speaking. So if locals don’t engage in English conversation with you, it’s not a sign of a lack of education—it usually means they haven’t had the chance to practice speaking. Without regular use, many Japanese people feel uncomfortable speaking English. This program gives locals a chance to practice conversational English in a relaxed, informal setting. You’ll be based at a community house, where participants usually stop by in the afternoons and early evenings. Local students may come to study, work, or just hang out, offering a great chance for cultural exchange. You can ask them about life in Japan and answer their questions about your own country. Depending on the season and weather, you’ll spend around 2 to 3 hours daily in conversation. You may also need up to 1–2 hours a day for lesson planning. Activities take place at the community house and other locations in and around Otaki. Occasionally, the local primary school may invite you to help with pronunciation through songs, games, or other fun activities.

CAYE is a registered youth charitable organization in Mzuzu, Malawi. Established in 2014, CAYE works in the Northern Region and parts of the Central Region to empower young people, women, and small-scale farmers to improve their livelihoods and contribute to national development. CAYE focuses on youth empowerment, agriculture, environment and climate change, health, and education. The organization supports smart agriculture and value chain development to increase food security, create jobs, and raise incomes. It also promotes climate change awareness, environmental protection, and sustainable natural resource management. In health, CAYE improves access to essential services and promotes safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). In education, the organization supports early childhood development and helps youth and women access quality learning and skills training opportunities. CAYE supports over 260 youth through training, mentorship, VSL, cooperative development, and community projects. Through partnerships with government departments, local organizations, and community groups, CAYE is building a productive youth population and a progressive community in Malawi.
