Indonesia - Education and Community Work in Bali

Travel to the beautiful island of Bali and work directly with an impoverished community. You will be assisting in the development of local villages through various work projects. Volunteers have the chance to pick from a selection of projects such as construction work and health care education. This is an amazing project to volunteer in because you will witness the transformation of communities as your work progresses. As a rural and secluded community, Ubud has difficulty accessing assistance and support in developing their neighborhoods. From teaching English to young children, to construction work in the local villages, to educating about health and hygiene, this project aims to help Ubud build a strong infrastructure and improve their education and healthcare systems. This project is divided into several categories, all designed to provide security to the members of this impoverished community.

Nutrition & Healthcare Education in Ubud, Bali

The placement is in local schools, where you will teach hygiene and basic healthcare practices. Qualified healthcare professionals may be able to help set up and conduct health camps, including dental checkups and general assessments in schools. However, please check with us first. Nutritionists and naturopaths can implement classes on healthy eating, the healthy plate concept, exercise, and the importance of a diet rich in fruits and vegetables and low in processed sugar. The program also involves basic first aid and personal hygiene education, such as washing hands, brushing teeth, and general cleanliness. This may seem trivial to those raised in Western societies; however, these services greatly assist in preventing many avoidable health problems and easily communicable diseases in developing communities. You will spend 1-2 hours each morning preparing lessons and about 2-3 hours in the afternoon teaching at a local elementary, high school, or university.

More Than I Ever Imagined – A Life-Changing Medical Mission Experience

January 15, 2026by: Jessica Navejar - United States

My medical mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala with International Volunteer HQ (IVHQ) was more than I ever imagined. From start to finish, the program was incredibly well organized, safe, and meaningful. I felt supported every step of the way, which allowed me to fully focus on learning, serving, and connecting with the community. As an LPN, I had the opportunity to work in a clinic setting where I assisted with assessments, participated in daily activities, and spent quality time with elderly patients. Working with the elders was especially impactful — not only providing care, but listening to them, learning from them, and simply being present. It was an experience that strengthened both my clinical skills and my compassion as a nurse. The host family experience was equally amazing. They were warm, welcoming, and truly made me feel at home. The food was incredible, and I appreciated learning more about Guatemalan culture through daily life with them. It added such depth to the overall experience. The tours and cultural experiences offered through the program were absolutely out of this world. Exploring Antigua and the surrounding areas was unforgettable and helped me better understand the country, its history, and its people. This trip pushed me personally and professionally in the best way possible. I gained hands-on experience, cultural awareness, and memories that will stay with me forever. I am beyond grateful to IVHQ for creating such a meaningful and well-run program. I would highly recommend this experience to anyone looking to grow, serve, and make a real difference.
