Volunteer with Globe Aware - Changing China

IMPORTANT NOTE: Globe Aware doesn't have upcoming volunteer vacations in China due to the ongoing coronavirus outbreak, along with related travel bans and closures. Join a volunteer vacation program abroad and discover the stark contrast between China’s poverty and soaring consumerism as well as between ancient traditions and the rush to modernization. You will meet “migrant” people from the countryside who are marginalized in cities and children with no access to health care or public education. This program is based on the outskirts of Beijing where you’ll work in a nonprofit middle school for migrant children. Projects and priorities vary each week, and these include painting classrooms, improving bathroom facilities, and building furniture. You will also teach English pronunciation and other essential skills. Volunteers stay at a modest hotel situated minutes away from the project site. Each room has private bathrooms with modern amenities. You will have meals with the group at local eateries.

Great experience volunteering in HuaHin

I had a great time in Thailand volunteering through IVHQ. Their pre departure checklists and videos were really helpful, and gave me confidence. The handover to the local team was seamless, with pickups and transport working really well. During the placement, the accommodation was great, with a good range of extra activities to get involved in during our downtime. In my third week, I transferred to a private room, as my boyfriend joined, and this again was seamless, with local pickups and drop offs only a whatsapp away. And the placement itself was sooo rewarding! I did construction and renovation which was sometimes tough in the heat, but well worth it to see the gratitude on the faces of the pupils and teachers at the kindergarten.
