Program participants will have the opportunity to make a lasting contribution to the people of Buenos Aires through their work on one of the many available projects. These include Childcare & Orphanage Assistance, Environmental Conservation, Sports Coaching, and Wildlife Conservation. During their spare time, volunteers will be able to explore and experience all that the city has to offer. Argentina’s capital is considered South America’s most European city, but oozes with Latin flair. Cosmopolitan Buenos Aires features 19th-century buildings and artistic neighborhoods. Volunteers must be 18 years of age or older, though exceptions to this age requirement may be made on a case-by-case basis. They must also be hardworking, flexible, and open to truly immersing themselves in the culture.

Spend a semester or academic year in the charismatic, sophisticated city of Buenos Aires, Argentina, with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 22 credits through either a Latin America Studies Program, an Immersion Program, or a Certificate in Latin America Studies Program at the University of Belgrano. Courses are taught in English and Spanish. You can opt to take a 4-week Intensive Spanish Language course before the start of the semester to help you get a head start in adjusting to the new language and culture and to prepare for the placement exam for the semester. Volunteering in Buenos Aires will add a new perspective to your study abroad experience as you give back to the local community. Improve Spanish fluency while volunteering in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Participants will be grouped based on their current level of Spanish and will spend 20 hours of lessons per week. With only a maximum of five students per class, the program enables the students to be in a calm and relaxed environment where they can gain knowledge in the areas of listening, grammar, oral and written comprehension. After the study program, students will be placed in a volunteering position located 15-20 minutes from the institute in Buenos Aires for a minimum of four weeks. Voluntario Global, founded in 2006, has been developing programs to empower social organizations, improve education, and train youth for over 10 years. In 2014, we started our new project in the Milpa Community. This community center, located in Pacheco, Buenos Aires, helps young people from the surrounding area learn gardening and landscaping, framed in agroecology, which is understood as a science, social movement, and practice. Our primary goal is to empower local people with the skills to find employment, gain confidence, and thrive in a community-oriented way of living. At the Milpa Community Center, we strive for local development and aim to achieve sustainability in its three dimensions: environmental, social, and economic. We believe that by creating more community experiences, we empower people, especially youth, to be conscious and reflective about their future and choose a communitarian and cooperative life over an individualistic and self-seeking one. The project is 1.30 hours away from the city, with the option to stay in on-site accommodation. We can arrange accommodation in the city on your days off, or you can choose to stay in the city.
