Having goals for any part of the school year is important! Having goals for teaching abroad is somehow even more important! Take these as a starting point or pull inspiration from the ideas below.

• Pick an academic skill or technique that you’d like to improve. Push yourself to take the extra time to hone, expand, or learn more about each.
• Push yourself to try new things or grow personally outside of being a teacher. Do this one on a comfortable basis though if it’s your first time abroad or in a new place.
• Connect with others! Students, other academics, locals, and more can help you grow as a person and an educator.

There are plenty of benefits to teaching abroad in Western Europe. Here are some of the top reasons.

• Cultural and language immersion. If you’ve learned a language, or have admired one, and the people who speak it, this is a perfect opportunity to dive right into it. Make sure you have appropriate language skills to make it!
• Diverse professional development. Having more experience within any field, but especially teaching makes you a stronger professional.
• Personal growth. Although growing as an educator is always an important part of the career, growing personally is just as important. The only way to grow as a professional is by having unique experiences that challenge you at multiple levels and teaching abroad will do that.
