Study German Language, European Studies, and Sustainability in Lüneburg, Germany through the program offered by the University Studies Abroad Consortium. The program is ideal for students who want to learn German and focus on European Studies, especially Germany’s role in the European Union. The Lüneburg program offers courses from three academic areas: German Language, Sustainability, and European Studies. The program’s intensive language approach lets students complete up to two years’ worth of university language studies in one semester. Students can also take additional courses in Political Science, Intercultural Communication, Literature, Culture, History, and Economics. These courses are taught in English or German and contribute to a well-rounded curriculum. Due to the global health status worldwide, USAC is making programmatic changes to summer, fall, and yearlong programs, and some options might not be available. Imagine studying the European and global challenges that Germany faces then walking along the remnants of the Berlin Wall, a stark reminder of the city’s turbulent past. Or wandering through the Turkish Market while learning about migration in Germany. Our International Affairs & Security Studies Program provides just this. Courses in this program take advantage of Berlin’s position as Germany’s capital and Germany’s position as a leading state in the European Union. The English-taught courses compare and contrast the pros and cons of the European Union’s open borders, of strategies to combat terrorism, and of the challenges and benefits that migration brings.

Hochschule Furtwangen University (HFU), in collaboration with the ICD Academy for Cultural Diplomacy, offers a program structured according to the traditional university format. The two academic years are divided into four semesters: students complete the first two semesters at the Center for Cultural Diplomacy Studies (CCDS) and the final two semesters at Furtwangen University. - Semester 1 consists of three mandatory modules & two facultative courses - Semester 2 consists of the Professional Development Training program & 2 facultative courses - Semester 3 consists of mandatory modules, including Academic Research & Writing - Semester 4 involves writing a final thesis on a related topic (subject to review & mentor approval) and submitting it at the end of the semester All courses are taught in English so proficiency in German isn’t necessary. If you’re a non-native English speaker, you must be able to submit proof of at least a CEFR B2 level. A BA degree is also required, though you’re eligible to join the pre-enrollment process as a current undergraduate as long as you have good standing.
