STEM & Art in Germany, Austria, and the Netherlands

Experience the perfect blend of Art and Science in three of the most important countries for the subjects. Learn about the fundamentals of studio art and explore all the sciences (biology, chemistry, computer science, earth sciences, geography, mathematics, physics, etc.) and their interdependence. For STEM, you will be able to engage with the class content through project-based activities and career exploration modules that will be carried out at different industrial sites, universities, and cities including Berlin, Munich, Dresden, Vienna, and Amsterdam. Interact with a variety of scientific experts and complete laboratory activities out in the field. The itinerary will also include many opportunities to meet artists and learn about a variety of art mediums in conjunction with the basic principles and elements of visual art. The Berlin Project 2026

Guided by accomplished journalists and professors, students in our Berlin program step into the role of foreign correspondents, reporting from Europe’s cultural capital. Over the course of three weeks, they explore topics ranging from art and architecture to migration, sustainability, and politics, while producing stories across various media platforms, including writing, photography, video, and social media. Berlin, a city shaped by both vibrant counterculture and complex history, offers a dynamic backdrop. Students learn essential skills, including interviewing (with or without interpreters), identifying stories in unfamiliar settings, and editing features. Each day begins with classes or breakfast meetings before heading into the city to interview locals and experts, writers, filmmakers, diplomats, and journalists. Student work is showcased on Medium and social platforms through Berlin Beyond Borders, creating portfolio pieces that strengthen career credentials for internships and jobs in media and communications.

CanSat: Hands-On Satellite Design

A CanSat is a small satellite in the shape of a commercial beverage can that performs several measuring tasks. In this course, a CanSat is designed, built, and tested in the field during a rocket launch. Therefore, it tackles the basics of topics related to the exciting area of space technologies and trains practical skills for developing a CanSat. Practical exercises supplement the theoretical units. During an excursion to a site in Berlin, where space-related companies and institutions are located, participants gain insight into facilities used to develop satellites. The course starts with introductory lectures about the most important topics related to space technologies. In parallel, practical training in developing specific engineering skills in mechanics, electronics, and programming is given, necessary to conduct the hands-on project. During project work units, parts of a CanSat will be designed with supervision in smaller groups. During a launch campaign, the CanSat will be tested under actual conditions.

Amazing Experience In Paris

January 29, 2026by: Audrey Colen - United States

Program: Study Abroad and Discover the World with AIFS!

9

When I decided I wanted to go abroad, I was nervous about a lot of things. First off, I was scared that when I went abroad I would have to settle for a location I did not want to be in because I needed my credits to transfer over. Luckily AIFS had a program in a wonderful city with a bunch of classes that would transfer back to my home university super well. When I chose this program, I was overjoyed but nervous about living in a homestay. When I got there I was happily surprised to find that my host family was amazing and provided me with an experience I would not have been able to have if I had been in a dorm/apt. The people that I met in the program were some of the coolest people I have ever known and am happy to call them my friends to this day. If you are looking for a great program in Paris where you have the freedom to meet new people, travel, and find yourself in a new place, I would 100% recommend this to you!
