Spend the summer in the modern and historic city of Berlin with AIFS Abroad! You’ll earn up to 6 credits per session (12 credits total) through various courses at Humboldt-Universität. Courses are taught in English or German—no previous German language study is required. You will live in a university apartment with a shared kitchen and bathroom. Near the subway, commuting to campus will be easier from your apartment. A meal card to subsidize the cost of lunches on campus is included in your program fee. In Berlin, enjoy cultural and social activities such as: • Museum tours • Cultural and historical site visits • A boat trip • Day trip to Potsdam • Day trip to the Baltic Sea (Session 1 only) • Day trip to Dresden (Session 2 only) Optional excursions include a 3-day trip to Warsaw, Poland (session 1), and a 3-day trip to Prague, Czech Republic (session 2).

With IES Abroad Berlin, students can take their German language skills to the next level. IES offers them the opportunity to take classes at our partner university, Humboldt-Universitat zu Berlin. Programs are available in the fall, spring, and entire academic year. Some students can participate in internships in and around the city to broaden their international work experience. The Freie Universität Berlin International Summer and Winter University (FUBiS) is an intensive academic program through which students can earn credits that may be counted towards their degrees at their home institutions. FUBiS sessions run for three to six weeks and take place both in summer and winter. Students can choose between subject courses (mostly taught in English) and German language and culture courses. The 50+ subject courses are offered within the fields of Architecture, Art History, Politics, Law, History, Media Studies, Economics, Sustainability, Literature, Philosophy, Entrepreneurship, and Music. German language and culture courses are available for up to five different proficiency levels (A1 to C1). Field trips are an integral part of all our courses. In addition, FUBiS offers excursions such as to the Berlin Reichstag building and a river boat tour through downtown Berlin or day trips to Potsdam and Leipzig.

The GLS Campus Berlin is a green oasis in the very center of Berlin - and the only language school in Germany with a 14000 square meter campus, including accommodation on site. The facilities on campus are second to none in Europe: 60 classrooms, 50 student apartments, 70 hotel rooms, a restaurant serving German food and a cafeteria. The most spectacular building on campus is a Berlin landmark under monument protection. The location is absolutely central, within walking distance to Berlin attractions like Museum Island. Two trams stop in front of the campus. German courses start every Monday on all levels. If you plan to study at a German university, GLS will get you ready for it: GLS is an official testing center for TestDaF, the language entrance exam for university studies in Germany.
