I loved my time at Sussex!
July 22, 2026Karin-Jael Stenelo - SwedenProvider: University of Sussex
My year abroad at Sussex was amazing, I liked Brighton more than I expected and made some (hopefully lifelong) great friends. I absolutely loved the amount of societies you could join and living at Stanmer Court was useful for going into Brighton, or to beautiful Lewes. I assumed that a lot would happen in the northern part or campus, but more things happened by the southern part so it worked out well for me. The big exception being mostly free food around holidays and the international student events or whatever which would be at the Student Centre. The education level felt like about the same as my home university Lund University. I guess less options because they're all full several year courses or programmes and my home university has year long, semester long or shorter as well.
My Time at the University of Sussex
July 22, 2026Lucy Whyman - United StatesProvider: University of Sussex
I studied abroad at the University of Sussex for the spring term 2026, and I had an amazing time. The highlights of my experience include the proximity to Brighton and London-always plenty of things to see/do, connecting with other study abroad students at the university, and the train station that connects to Gatwick airport. The courses are interesting, but the coursework is not too heavy. Housing is convenient to bus stops and classes. The university is right on the edge of the South Downs, a beautiful place for a walk or stroll. I would recommend Sussex highly!
It was a great experience overall!

Ashoka University has provided me with a stimulating academic environment and valuable learning opportunities. I appreciate the diverse community, diverse choice of courses and faculties available and the opportunity to participate in an international exchange programme. Overall, it has been a meaningful experience.

I had an amazing time in Costa Rica. It is a beautiful country and Maximo Nivel enabled me to see all of it at its peak. I also racked up community service hours while having a great time with my friends. Would recommend to anyone.
Healing in Ancient Greece is CYA's Hidden Gem!

About the professor: Katia is wonderful. She was the most patient, understanding, and knowledgeable professor I've had. You'll learn so many fun facts with each lesson, and finish the class day feeling so enriched! I really hope she never stops teaching this class. She was so caring and made my time abroad better than I expected it to be. About the course: Don't let the syllabus scare you, it doesn't really match the experience you'll have, aside from the locations visited and the two assignments you'll complete. Your experience is what you make of it! I also recommend this course to any student willing to learn about medicine in antiquity. My class was mainly pre-med students, or aspiring Classicists like myself. We learned about (and visited) the many different archaeological sites that were significant to this subject matter (the Acropolis, the Sanctuary of Artemis at Brauron, and the Asklepieion at Kos, to name a few) along with what constituted "ancient healing". Lastly, its a lot of standing and walking, but insanely rewarding nonetheless. Museum access is completely free with the activation of your ICOMOS card, which is provided to you by CYA and is valid until December 31st of the year it was issued to you. If you love historic sites like me, this may be the highlight of your trip. In Kos, you will also taste lots of honey and briefly visit the greatly-anticipated Asklepieion! You also get housing and your flight ticket accommodated for, and free meals from CYA Monday through Friday! This was the highlight of my summer.
Unforgettable

An experience that allowed me to meet incredible people, greatly improve my English, and let go of the fear of new opportunities—embracing them with the utmost positivity. It was also a time to be away from home while finding people who made it feel like home, and a chance for new moments of discovery, trying new things, and taking on new challenges.
Best thing I could've done

Insane experience and could not recommend more. You make a bunch of international friends, experience education in another country, and can hop on a train to get to another country. I found the modules at Sussex engaging and relevant to my future job. The course load was manageable (much less work than my home uni) and allowed for constant travelling (uni is fairly close to gatwick airport). Sussex is a very international student friendly place, in all of my classes there was a bunch of exchange students. All of the clubs and sports teams had activites and pubcrawls, which really gets you involved in the pubbing culture.

Amazing

I had a wonderful 2 weeks at the summer camp. I enjoyed discovering new cultures through the host families. The volunteer part was also rewarding seeing communities and helping them in Quépos and San Jose. The activities didn’t leave any time for boredom. I loved exploring Costa Rica’s beautiful nature with a bunch of visits. We did surfing, cooking classes, scuba diving and a lot more great activities! The group was also the perfect size with between 20-14 campers and was great for a warm atmosphere. I made friends I definitely have to visit. The staff was also professional and friendly. Would recommend to any teenager who likes travelling and meeting people! Loved it.

Program: Accredited TEFL Certification in Mexico, with Job Placement
I feel prepared to teach after having taken this course. The trainers met my expectations. The backup services and administration were excellent. The deciding factors in choosing ITTO were the in-person classes and location. My opinion of Guadalajara is that I love it. My message as someone who has taken the course is that it’s cool.

Completely exceeded my expectations – I asked for it, and I received opportunities for extra practice – A million thanks!

I feel prepared to teach better. Completely exceeded my expectations – I asked for it, and I received opportunities for extra practice – A million thanks! The trainers met my expectations. Excellent. My opinion of Guadalajara is: where do I start? Safe, super people, gorgeous architecture, great weather, not polluted, etc. The deciding factors in choosing ITTO were location + affordable. ITTO staff are wonderful. Office staff are personable, professional, and funny! Faculty is top-notch. Thank you!
