Asia Internship Program

For my second co-op, I completed my internship through a program called the Asia Internship Program (AIP). I shared my goals and interests with the program, and they helped match me with a host company in Seoul, South Korea. During my stay in Korea, AIP assisted with arranging my housing accommodation, and the staff were responsive to any questions or concerns I had throughout my experience. I felt very supported and comfortable throughout the program, which meant a lot to me, especially since it was my first time in Asia. For my internship, I had the opportunity to contribute to projects related to brand management, marketing, and market research. Now that I have concluded my internship, I can confidently say that this experience was invaluable to me as I was included in real professional conversations which made me feel that my ideas and perspectives were valued. If you’re looking for a real internship experience with the support of a great program I would do it with AIP! ☺️

I had a great experience with AIP! They were very helpful, professional, and supportive throughout the whole process of finding my company placement in Asia and after as well. The communication was smooth, and they made the process much easier and less stressful. Thanks to AIP, I was able to find an amazing opportunity that matched what I was looking for. It definitely depends on the company you get but they found a great one for me with many other interns which made my stay a lot more fun. I would definitely recommend AIP to anyone looking for an international internship or professional experience abroad!

I underwent a two month Internship as a software development intern at a Startup in Osaka, Japan. I really liked the company as I was able to do my part of the project independently, while also coordinating the overall progress with the other interns. My boss was very open to the ideas and opinions of all interns. He had a vague vision of what he wanted at the end, but the process of getting there was entirely left to us interns and I was also able to add some of my own ideas to the project. I also had a lot of time to explore Japan on the weekends, I traveld around in the Kansai region and even went to Tokio. I enjoyed getting to know Japans culture and food, while also gaining work experience.

I spent 1.5 months doing an internship at a hospital in Kathmandu. It was a truly valuable and unforgettable experience. I gained practical knowledge, met wonderful people, and had the opportunity to explore amazing places. It was much more than just an internship — it was a chance to learn, grow, experience a new culture, and step outside my comfort zone. I felt very well taken care of throughout the program, and whenever I had questions or problems, there was always someone ready to help. I highly recommend this program!

AIP provided excellent support throughout my internship experience in Hong Kong. From the beginning, the process was organized, clear, and much less stressful because the team was available to answer questions and provide guidance. Moving to another country for an internship can feel overwhelming, especially when you are balancing travel arrangements, housing, workplace expectations, and adapting to a new city, but AIP made the transition much easier. The communication was one of the strongest parts of the experience. I always felt that I had a clear point of contact if I needed help or had a question. The team was responsive, professional, and supportive throughout the program. They helped make sure I understood what to expect before arriving and continued to provide support while I was in Hong Kong. That gave me confidence and allowed me to focus more on learning from the internship itself. The placement gave me a valuable opportunity to experience a professional workplace in an international environment. I was able to develop practical skills, improve my confidence, and gain a better understanding of how professional work is done outside of the classroom. Living and working in Hong Kong was also a meaningful part of the experience. It pushed me to become more independent, adapt to a different environment, and learn how to navigate daily life in a fast-paced global city. I also appreciated that the program was not only about completing an internship. It gave me the chance to grow personally as well as professionally. I learned how to communicate in a workplace, manage responsibilities, work with different people, and become more comfortable in unfamiliar situations. Those are skills that will be useful in future internships, university, and my career. Overall, I am very grateful for the opportunity and for the support AIP provided throughout the process. The experience was well organized, worthwhile, and memorable. I would recommend AIP to students who are looking for an overseas internship and want the support of a team that is helpful, professional, and committed to making the experience run smoothly

I spent 2 months abroad in Taipei, Taiwan through AIP, and it was a really positive experience! I had some issues with my original internship placement, but my team was incredibly responsive! I really appreciate Jeff, Roro, and Nisha’s support and help throughout the process. With their help and flexibility, I was placed with another company very quickly. The transition process was fast and smooth, and I couldn't be more happy with my internship. Moreover, my living accommodations through AIP were excellent. I was close to transportation and the neighborhood was very peaceful. I'm extremely grateful to the AIP team for their help.

My internship abroad was an experience I will always remember. Living and working in Bangkok gave me the opportunity to step outside my comfort zone, experience a different environment, and learn how to adapt to a new workplace and culture. During my internship, I gained valuable hands-on experience in IT and had the chance to work on different tasks and projects, which helped me improve both my technical and problem-solving skills. I also learned a lot from the people I worked with and enjoyed getting to know a new team. Outside of work, living abroad helped me become more independent and confident. There were definitely some challenges along the way, but they made the experience even more meaningful. Overall, I am very grateful for this opportunity and the memories, skills, and friendships I gained throughout my time abroad.

My experience with AIP has been great! I received support from the AIP representatives throughout my internship. The company I worked for was very accommodating and offered me a role where I could contribute very meaningfully! I couldn't have asked for better coworkers, they supported me along with Nisha, my AIP coordinator.

I had a great time here in Taiwan with the internship from AIP. Everyone was very kind and the food was good here. I learned a lot from my host company and would highly recommend this program to my peers 10/10 experience for sure.

I'm very thankful for AIP's assistance in securing my internship in Seoul, South Korea (8 weeks). What really makes AIP wonderful is the on ground support they provided. I was able to get in touch with my support persons 24/7 when I had an emergency! Having the extra support when finding and completing and internship abroad was invaluable!

My stay in Japan for three months over the summer was super fun. I was able to learn a lot from my internship while also being able to explore Japan for all that it has to offer. My apartment was in convenient places located near Shibuya and Shinjuku.

AIP made my summer internship in South Korea fun and supportive! I was able to safely explore Korea while knowing if I ever needed anything they'd be one text away for help. They were so eager to get know us and allowed me to feel comfortable while doing something outside my comfort zone. I learned so much and I'm so grateful to have had this experience with AIP.

I did my internship in Japan during the summer. It was a bit difficult to find a company related to my area, but AIP made it possible and helped me find a good place. I had a really good experience and learned a lot from working in a different environment and living in another country. I would definitely recommend a program like this if you have the chance. I spent six months in Bangkok through an internship organized by AIP, and I am very grateful for the experience. The internship gave me the opportunity to gain valuable professional experience, broaden my perspective, and develop new skills in an international environment. It definitely opened new opportunities and was a very rewarding experience. AIP made the whole process much easier by organizing the internship placement and arranging accommodation before my arrival. The apartment was in a great location, making it easy to get to work and explore the city. Whenever I had questions or needed support, Nisha, Herlyn and Kate from the community management team were always kind and happy to help. Overall, I had a very positive experience. Having AIP take care of the practical arrangements allowed me to focus on making the most of my internship and my time in Bangkok.

I am especially grateful to my coordinator, Nisha, who was absolutely wonderful throughout the process. My experience with Asia Internship Program was amazing from start to finish. I had very specific requirements for my internship, including finding an unpaid position that was longer than 8 weeks and focused on nonprofit or legal work rather than English teaching. While the placement process took some time, Jeff Oo was incredibly professional and reassuring throughout the process. He was honest about updates, never gave false hope, and made sure he was finding opportunities that were truly the right fit for me rather than rushing the process. Once I arrived in Taiwan, Nisha Shahi and Roro Lee were also incredibly supportive. Nisha helped arrange my transportation to and from the airport, answered my questions quickly when I was settling into my accommodation, and regularly checked in to make sure I was doing well. Their support made moving to a new country feel much less overwhelming. The internship itself exceeded my expectations, and I felt welcomed and comfortable as a queer Black student. I’m incredibly grateful for the care, professionalism, and effort the AIP team put into making this experience successful. I would highly recommend Asia Internship Program to any student looking for an international internship experience!
