Internship cancelled because of safety reasons and AIP was not available for any contact
In January of this year, I had intended to embark on an internship in Peru. My interactions with AIP, the organization facilitating the internship, had been satisfactory thus far. However, with only a month before my departure, I sought clarity on my internship placement, but was informed that a certain level of proficiency in Spanish was required. This requirement had not been communicated during prior meetings, causing me some frustration. A week before my scheduled departure, the political situation in Peru became volatile with the imposition of night curfews and tourists finding themselves stranded. Despite attempts to contact AIP to discuss safety concerns, they were unresponsive. As I had not been assigned an official placement and it was not possible to secure a safer alternative, I was forced to cancel the internship. Despite the terms and conditions stipulating that deposits would be refunded in cases where official placements were not secured, AIP has refused to return my deposit. Additionally, their communication has been elusive, making it difficult to resolve this matter.
