Language Programs in Japan

Well well good and crazy times with these fellas! The school staff was super nice and the classes were smooth sailing except of one teacher who was overly obsessed with Kanjis. I know I’m here to learn Japanese but he took it to another level. Anyways I’m thankful for dealing with me during the intense Q&A sessions on Kanji and grammar headaches. All went well and yes the underground party scene in Kyoto is crazy. Recommend checking out Kawaharamachi where the night never sleeps.

When talking about studying in Japan, for me the biggest concern was finding a trustworthy and legitimate language school. As I have studied in the past with Meiji Academy I was all set for this experience. But I have to say that it was a Meiji vibe but ten times more large and in a traditional Kyoto coverage which I loved!! The school facilities are high-class with a whole school building, a large student lounge, a study library and a level community engagement I haven’t seen so far. Despite the wonderful temples and rich history. Kyoto can sometimes feel lonely. That’s why I completely felt the need and glad I chose to study again with this school. I stayed in a sharehouse they organized which was great but unfortunately a bit far away…30mins is not what I was expecting. My friend said the apartments are much closer to the school and well equipped but it comes with a price tag. Nevertheless I would do it all over again if I had the choice!

Kyoto is fascinating through and through all facets of Japanese culture and traditions. I think I made the right choice to experience the “real Japan” by choosing this location and the Meiji staff helped making my stay pleasant throughout. The classes were fun and entertaining while the intensity and grammar practice were well balanced. One thing that stood out to me the most is the variety and detail to organizing superior events and cultural exchanges. The local Japanese students were also an enrichment for the community at school. Loved it!

Grüezi an das liebe Meiji Team! 4 Wochen in Kyoto mit Meiji Akademie waren einfach nur spitze. Das Team ist sehr engagiert und hat mir meinen Aufenthalt hier war von Anfang an sehr gut organisiert. Es gab sogar einen Mitarbeiter der deutsch sprechen konnte was sehr half. Besonders haben mir die vielen kulturellen Aktivitäten und Exkursionen gefallen. Von japanischer Töpfereikunst, Katanaschwertern und traditioneller Matchazeremonie war das Angebot sehr vielseitig. Der Unterricht war strukturiert und interaktiv mit vielen Gruppenübungen. Besonders haben mir der kulturelle Sprachaustausch mit japanischen Studenten von lokalen Unis gefallen. Merci vilmal und bis bald. Euer Ben

Meiji's Kyoto campus was simply one of the best schools I've been so far. I've studied in the past at their Hokkaido campus and it was a lot of fun. But Kyoto is a complete another level! The school is huge with a dedicated study library and huge student lounge. The best thing are the unique traditional crafts and arts workshops. The classes were as always great but I could tell that the teaching style is much more advanced due to the very experienced teachers I had. Local language exchanges with a variety of university student circles were also an often engagement. Highly recommend checking it out!!

First time Japan, first time Bildungszeit and first time REAL Sushi! I think this sums up my first day in Japan when I arrived. And yes, not Tokyo or Osaka. I wanted to see the real Japan and found it here in Sapporo. The city felt like back home in Europe but at the same time so surreal and new things to discover. The food here is so fresh and the variety of things to try was overwhelming. The school did a great job organizing events and other activities for the students. Sometimes it felt a bit overwhelming with all the new things to memorize and Japanese take a bit of time to properly sack in but I successfully survived my two weeks here:) Hope to come back again and definitely recommend everybody to do their paid work leave in Japan too!

Simply a great and fulfilling time I had in Japan. My work life exposed me to a lot of Japanese studies and cultural events I wholeheartedly enjoyed. The horse family they organized for me was so nice and they made sure to take me to a few family trips on the weekend. The time passed by so quickly that I was really sad once my study abroad time was over. I wish the whole Meiji team all the best and hope to see all my new friends sometime soon in the future.

Mein Bildungsurlaub in Hokkaido oder genauer gesagt in Sapporo war wirklich wunderschön. Die Organisation der Schule war hervorragend und besonders die ganzen Aktivitäten waren eines der besten die ich seit langem erlebt habe. Der Unterricht war gut strukturiert aber konnte auch teils recht intensiv sein. Man muss hier wirklich den Kontext beachten, dass die Struktur vom Bildungsurlaubsprogramm sehr voll gepackt ist mit Pflichteinheiten die man einhalten muss. Hier kann man dafür wenig die Schule verantwortlich setzen, aber mein persönlicher Rat ist, hängt am besten noch eine Extrawoche Urlaub dran. Hokkaido hat einfach viel zu bieten! Meiji Team ihr werdet mich nicht so schnell los und wir sehen uns im Wintern wieder 😝 Grüße aus dem sonnigen Frankfurt!

I had the honor of joining LTL as one of the first students at their newly opened Osaka school, and from day one, I felt right at home. The teachers and staff are warm, welcoming, and genuinely engaged with their students. I’d studied Japanese for several months back home before arriving, but I learned more in just two weeks at LTL (4 hours of group classes plus 2 hours of individual lessons daily) than I had in all that time. I also appreciated that they rotate teachers rather than assigning just one — it kept things exciting, since I got to learn from different teaching styles and perspectives. Learning doesn’t stop when class ends. LTL organizes plenty of excursions and get-togethers to practice Japanese with locals — festival outings, dinners, a beach trip, origami, calligraphy, and more. Classes group students of the same proficiency level but from a range of backgrounds and ages, which made studying even more enjoyable since I was learning about other cultures alongside the language. Accommodation-wise, I stayed in a private apartment, while some classmates opted for a host family — both seemed to work out well, and everyone I spoke to was happy with their choice

My time in Sapporo was great! Thanks to the teachers and fellow students that helped make this experience wonderful. I wish I could have stayed longer but after two weeks it was time for me to say sayonara.

I had a very packed and intense week with my Bildungszeit in Hokkaido but won’t regret even a second of it. The events were much fun and it was great to meet local Japanese at some of them. For next time two weeks is definitely less of a rush.

Studies been a bit overwhelming but I have to admit my Japanese became rusty. My two weeks in Sapporo flew by so quickly that I almost forgot that it all just ended. I love my instructors and also the very structured course. Highly recommend.

I did two weeks of educational leave in Sapporo with these guys and had a great overall experience. The flight and travel was a bit exhausted but once I arrived in my female sharehouse everything changed. I loved my teachers and the positive vibe during classes. The best was no homework, only if you asked for it. The extracurricular activities and weekend trips were top notch. Hihgly recommend

Mein Aufenthalt in Hokkaido war einfach nur spitze und das ist nichts zuletzt zu verdanken wegen Meiji. Die Lehrer waren sehr erfahren und Geduld haben den Fragen der Studenten. Die anderen Studentenbetreuer waren auch sehr freundlich und hilfsbereit. Vor allen Dingen haben wir die Aktivitäten sehr gefallen. Ich war einmal bei einer echten Katana Schwertprüfung und auch unser Ausflug nach Mount Moiwa war super spannend. Hokkaido hat einfach so viel zu bieten und so viel zu entdecken dass eine Woche Bildungszeit nicht ausgereicht hat. Es ist auf jeden Fall ein Geheimtipp und noch sehr unentdeckt nicht für andere Orte wie Tokio oder Kyoto wo die meisten Touristen hingehen. Wenn du das echte Japan erleben möchtest kann ich auf jeden Fall Hokkaido aber bring viel Zeit mit da ist sehr viel zu entdecken gibt😁

Ich kann LTL in Tokio (Akihabara) uneingeschränkt empfehlen! Schade, dass ich „nur“ 5 Sterne vergeben kann! Die Lehrerinnen, die ich in meinem 2-wöchigen – wirklich sehr intensivem - Bildungsurlaub kennen gelernt habe, sind sehr engagiert + professionel und schaffen eine motivierende Lernatmosphäre. Der Unterricht war abwechslungsreich, praxisnah und perfekt auf die Bedürfnisse der Students abgestimmt. Ein besonderes Dankeschön geht an meine unvermüdlichen Lehrerinnen Naho, Kayo, Miyu, Yuko, Kumiko und Emiko (der Dank geht auch an alle, die ich hier möglicherweise vergessen habe!), die mir insbesondere im nachmittäglichen Einzelunterricht mit unendlicher Geduld nicht nur ihre Sprache, sondern auch viel über den japanischen Alltag und ihre Kultur mitgegeben haben. Hervor zu heben ist auch die freundliche und kompetente Unterstützung durch das gesamte LTL-Team, das bei organisatorischen Fragen und außerschulischen Aktivitäten immer supernett und hilfsbereit war. Ein besonderes Highlight war für mich auch mein Homestay. Meine Gastmutter, Nobu, war unglaublich herzlich und hat mich vom ersten Tag an willkommen geheißen. Für mich als Japanisch-Anfängerin war es von großem Vorteil, dass Nobu sehr gut englisch spricht. Durch das Zusammenleben in der Familie konnte ich nicht nur meine Sprachkenntnisse im Alltag verbessern, sondern auch die japanische Kultur und den Familienalltag auf eine authentische Weise kennenlernen. Die Familie war stets hilfsbereit, offen für Gespräche und hat meinen Aufenthalt zu einer unvergesslichen Erfahrung gemacht. Beim nächsten Mal will ich unbedingt wieder bei Nobu und ihren Kindern wohnen! Ich hatte sogar ein für japanische Verhältnisse riesiges und dennoch gemütliches Zimmer und würde generell eine Gastfamilie immer einem engen, lauten Boardinghouse vorziehen! … auch, wenn das mit einem längeren Weg zur Sprachschule verbunden ist. Insgesamt konnte ich sprachlich und persönlich sehr viel mitnehmen. Eine hervorragende Erfahrung, die meine Erwartungen übertroffen hat. Wer in Tokio eine hochwertige Sprachschule sucht, ist hier genau richtig! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐+ Viele Grüße aus Deutschland!

Meine Zeit in Hokkaido war der reinste Hammer! Das Programm der Meiji Akademie war von Anfang bis Ende gut durchgeplant. Fast schon ein bisschen zu viel was die Aktivitäten anging.😝 Mir hat besonders das Karatetraining und das traditionelle Färben der Handtücher super viel Spaß gemacht. Ich hatte auch die Chance ein traditionelles Yukawa bei einem der Events zu tragen! Einfach nur der Hammer. Ach ja und japanisch hab ich auch noch ein bisschen was gelernt in den zwei Wochen😁 Bussi an euch alle und man sieht wie immer zweimal im Leben😉

Insgesamt war es eine interessante und lehrreiche Zeit auch wenn nicht alles perfekt lief. Der Unterricht war sehr hilfreich, war aber stellenweise schon sehr intensiv. Zur Verteidigung der Schule muss man noch dazu sagen, dass die Bildungszeit schon recht herausfordernd ist was die erforderliche Studenzahl angeht. Besonders gefallen haben mir die Ausflüge und der Einblick in die japanische Kultur durch die Teezeremonie und auch die traditionelle Blumendekoration namens "Ikebana". Manchmal war die Organisation etwas unklar, da es fast täglich Events gab (was an sich super ist!). Daher hat dies gelegentlich zu etwas Verwirrung geführt. Trotzdem hatte ich eine super Zeit und habe vielle nette Leute kennengelernt. Mein Japanisch hat sich immens verbessert und ich hatte auch die Möglichkeit mein Kanjiwissen aufzupäppeln. Die Umgebung in Sapporo ist sehr grün und das Schoppen in Tanukikoji hat besonders viel Spaß gemacht. Rückblickend war es eine gute Erfahrung die immer wieder gern gemacht hätte.

Die Erfahrung war unglaublich bereichernd und hat mir nicht nur sprachlich sondern auch persönlich viel gebracht. Die Kombination aus interaktiven Japanischunterricht und kulturellen Aktivitäten war spitze. Ich habe schnell Anschluss gefunden und mich von Anfang an willkommen gefühlt. Die Lehrkräfte waren engagiert und haben den Unterricht lebendig gestaltet. Außerhalb des Klassenzimmers konnte ich viel über Hokkaido lernen und habe mich auch mit Locals angefreundet. Hokkaido selbst ist wunderschön und definitiv eine Reise wert. Diese zwei Wochen haben meine Erwartungen übertroffen und ich komme auf jeden Fall nach Sapporo zurück!

Joa das hat schon Spaß gemacht. Diese Schule hat ein gutes Programm und war recht gut organisiert. Ich habe mir eine private Wohnung organisieren lassen über die Schule und das ging auch sehr gut. Alle Kochutensilien, Decke, Staubsauger und so weiter waren alles da nur leider gab’s keine Handtücher die müsste man sich selber organisieren. Aber einen Föhn hatte ich auch. Neben der sehr zentral gelegenen Unterkunft kann man noch dazu sagen dass Japanischunterricht sehr viel Spaß gemacht hat. Es war teils recht intensiv aber das konnte man leider nicht umgehen da die Bildungzeit rechts strikte Anforderungen hat. Meine 30 Stunden pro Woche habe ich erfüllt deswegen war alles gut aber es hat mich natürlich auch gefreut dass ich nicht die ganze Zeit im Klassenzimmer saß sondern durch die vielen kulturellen Aktivitäten auch ein bisschen frische Luft bekommen habe. Gerade der Katanaschwertkampf, die Meditation im buddhistischen Tempel und die Teezeremonie haben mir sehr viel Spaß gemacht. Ich kann’s auf jeden Fall jedem empfehlen der gerne seine Bildungszeit im Ausland machen möchte gerade in Japan.
