Join this challenging internship and get the chance to collaborate with experts in the field of biomedical engineering. You will be assigned to a group under the Department of Mechanical and Mechatronic Engineering of Stellenbosch University. They are also closely associated with the Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Department of Industrial Engineering, and Faculty of Health Sciences. While interning with their team, you will gain exposure to their work across multiple disciplines within healthcare and engineering. You will build up skills in the research and development of cutting-edge technologies and devices for healthcare facilities. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to work together with a renowned professor. You will also obtain vast experience in a broad range of biomedical applications and technologies. To say that my time in Cape Town was nothing short of amazing would be an understatement. There is so much to see and explore and you truly end up becoming immersed with the local culture in one way or the other. The people are friendly and warm and that was reflected most for me by my lovely and gracious host family during my internship placement. With regards to the nonprofit sector, the Cape Town area provides many opportunities and is a fantastic place for interns with an interest in humanitarian, environmental or animal welfare based work.
