The Marketing & Communications internship in Sydney gave me the real life experience which I can tie closely to my studies, and this has helped me understand different topics more easily. The internship also gave me the practical experience I needed to help boost my CV (resume) for my later career, and better prepare me for my future. I enjoyed meeting many people from different cultures a lot. My host family accommodation was amazing; I couldn’t have asked for better.

My Marketing & Communications internship in Tokyo (Japan) was one of my most rewarding experiences for my professional and academic journey. What I enjoyed the most was the opportunity to fully immerse myself in a new culture that I became deeply fond of while working alongside professionals who supported me in my career aspirations by giving me the independence and challenge to develop and lead work initiatives. This experience also allowed me to observe Japanese culture and develop an appreciation and understanding for their work ethic and respect that I will continue to implement in my future projects and in my personal life. Most importantly, this internship helped me confirm my love for traveling and my future career in international marketing.

I'm a current intern placed in Cusco, Peru through IVHQ, doing marketing and communications with a local organization. The process from application to arrival was clear and well organized, and the support has been genuinely responsive. When I've reached out, I've had the best experience with REAL people replying fast and actually being helpful. The placement itself has been the highlight: meaningful work, a great host organization, and an experience that's pushed my Spanish from conversational to fluent. If you're a student considering an internship abroad in Latin America, this is a legitimate and well run way to do it.

I truly wish I had spent the full 12 weeks in Ireland rather than only four. However, within that short time, I tried to fully immerse myself into the experience as much as possible. One of the things I appreciated most was that my internship was genuinely hands-on rather than simply shadowing someone the entire time. I was trusted with real responsibilities, projects, and problem-solving opportunities that allowed me to grow professionally and personally in ways I honestly did not expect. Before arriving, I had fears and uncertainties about whether I would be capable enough, experienced enough, or even if my age would affect how I fit into the program. Those fears quickly faded once I became immersed in the experience itself. This internship challenged me to adapt to unfamiliar environments, problem-solve independently, communicate within a new culture, and gain confidence in my own abilities. I was able to work on projects involving social media, marketing strategy, Google Ads troubleshooting, tourism promotion, and organizational systems while also learning more about Irish culture, history, and daily life. Personally, the experience had an even greater impact on me than I expected. Living abroad helped me become more independent, adaptable, confident, and willing to step outside of my comfort zone. It also deeply inspired me creatively as a writer and future author by exposing me to new places, stories, perspectives, and experiences. I am incredibly grateful that I took the leap and participated in the program despite my initial fears and uncertainties. It became one of the most impactful experiences of my life so far. If I were to offer one area of constructive feedback, it would be encouraging more visible student testimonials, experiences, and promotional content surrounding the program itself. Before applying, it was sometimes difficult to find detailed firsthand experiences or examples from previous participants, which initially made the program feel harder to fully research and trust from the outside looking in. Because of that, I think encouraging more students to share their internship experiences publicly through testimonials, videos, social media content, or alumni stories could greatly help future participants feel more confident and reassured during the decision-making process. Now having completed the program myself, I absolutely would recommend it to others and plan to share my own experience as well. I am genuinely grateful that I took the leap despite my initial hesitation, because it became one of the most impactful and transformative experiences of my life so far.

Overall great experience. The local team was friendly and I had a good experience at my work placement, too. I appreciated the perspective from living in another culture. I grew in caring about the people behind my design work. Being intentional about the messages I communicate and the people I reach is something I will take that back to my future career.

My Business Development internship in Japan was an incredibly rewarding experience. I enjoyed working alongside people from different backgrounds, experiencing Japanese culture, and contributing to meaningful projects that supported the organisation. The internship strengthened my communication, adaptability, and problem-solving skills while giving me valuable cross-cultural experience that will benefit both my personal growth and future career.

I really enjoyed Remote Marketing & Communications internship (hosted out of Japan) as the internship tasks that I did is meaningful to the host organization and me. This internship helped shape me into a better person, in terms of knowledge and skills. It was one of the best decisions I have ever made.

The Media & Film Production internship was an excellent experience from start to finish. Through the tasks I have performed and the effort I have put forth, I feel more empowered to succeed in my chosen career field. My homestay family was awesome. My coworkers were engaging and interested in learning more about me, and in teaching me more about Australian culture as well as their own. I came for an internship and made new friends along the way.

I was very happy to be given such a unique internship placement that aligned with my interests and goals in the remote Marketing & Communications internship (hosted out of Japan). My internship coordinators were very thorough and made sure I understood what was expected of me. The people at my internship placement are very kind, helpful, and supportive. I was able to help with tasks I would have otherwise not been able to get experience with on my own.

From the beginning of my internship, I was given all the details and information I needed to ensure I was fit for this internship and confident throughout. I was given help as and when needed by Veronica from the smallest details to connecting me with other students. Travelling to the Middle East was an entirely new and transformative experience for me. Having never travelled alone, this represented a significant step in my personal development. The most valuable aspect of my internship was the opportunity to engage with people across Amman. Another unforgettable moment was visiting Petra, one of the wonders of the world. The breathtaking views and historical magnificence and I had never seen anything like this before. One of the most significant skills I developed was communication. Prior to this internship, I felt hesitant about interacting with new people and sharing accommodation with strangers. However, as the weeks progressed, these concerns transformed into strengths, and I built numerous friendships that have lasted beyond my return. At my placement I gained substantial practical knowledge and skills crucial to my career path. The work environment was dynamic and motivating, filled with highly skilled professionals from whom I learned a great deal. I encountered several challenges, particularly at the beginning, including feelings of homesickness and anxiety about living with unfamiliar people. However, through open communication and building relationships, I gradually became more comfortable and confident. Overall, this internship has been an essential component of my academic and professional journey. It has equipped me with invaluable knowledge, practical skills, and personal growth that I am confident will benefit me as I continue to build my career and navigate future challenges.

It was a great experience, however I do think it is geared towards people with little to no work experience and did not meet all my expectations of learning something new in a new work environment. The best part was being able to practice my Spanish with my host family.

CIEE provided me with a great internship site, a clean and nice apartment in a good neighborhood, and gave me roommates who shared similar interests. The staff was extremely kind and helped me whenever I needed, and were good about checking in with me about my experiences

I think there's problems here and there with cleanliness of dorms and location choices, but overall I had a very positive experience. The staff and program as a whole I felt was a very worthwhile opportunity.

My CIEE internship in Barcelona, Spain is a great experience not just academically but also personally. I have learned so much about myself during these months and building connections is so important in life.

This program was amazing! The staff and faculty are always willing to help with anything. Whether it's about your internship placement or advice for fun adventures in the city, the staff is there for you. This program has great opportunities to grow as a student and a professional in your field. The field trips and activities in this program allowed us to take our learning outside and explore a new culture. I couldn't recommend this program enough!

CIEE is very well-staffed and they do everything they can to make sure you have the best experience possible. Everyone is friendly, the rules and guidelines are laid out for you, and the excursions CIEE plans are a blast!!

I have had a great experience, it is organized and comes at a good cost. The staff on-site is very supportive and helpful (as well as Brooke in Portland), but we had an emergency situation and the Portland higher-ups didn't handle it well, nor did anyone answer the emergency number provided to us.

It was a great program. I would really only recommend it for an internship because I think you get the most out of it that way. I was going to study abroad I'd rather do it at a local university where I'm studying. My only complaint is that the whole CIEE experience isn't tailored very well to internships, and a lot of things conflict with work. It feels like the intern students are an afterthought, which I understand because most people are studying here.
