This immersive internship takes place in a small town in the Ecuadorian Amazon, where Indigenous midwives continue ancestral practices blending herbal medicine, spiritual guidance, and community care. Hosted by a women-run healing center, interns engage with holistic approaches to reproductive health, pregnancy, birth, and postpartum care rooted in Indigenous knowledge. Interns participate in daily activities such as cultivating medicinal plants, preparing herbal remedies, participating in pre- and postnatal care, and supporting health center operations and community tourism initiatives.
