Taste of Chile
June 11, 2026by: Attila Gardony - HungaryDear Reader, I am Attila from Hungary who got a big help from Adelante Abroad. I went to Chile to accomplish my winery internship. This was not my first, nor my second studies abroad, but this was the most convenient one if we are talking about communication, organization, paperworks tasks and so on overall. They always helped me and they were kind all the time. And the winery Casas del Bosque, much more than I expected. Thank you!

Great Way to Practice Your Spanish
September 30, 2024by: Corey G.It was a great experience, however I do think it is geared towards people with little to no work experience and did not meet all my expectations of learning something new in a new work environment. The best part was being able to practice my Spanish with my host family.
Great Internship
September 23, 2024by: Birdie B.CIEE provided me with a great internship site, a clean and nice apartment in a good neighborhood, and gave me roommates who shared similar interests. The staff was extremely kind and helped me whenever I needed, and were good about checking in with me about my experiences
I met some of the most incredible people, that I can call friends for the rest of my life!
May 11, 2024by: Yosajandy Bouslog - United StatesProgram: International Internship Programs with Adelante Abroad
I enjoyed my time in Barcelona very much. I was ecstatic to get there and start. When I first started it wasn't exactly what I was expecting. Nonetheless, I enjoyed every minute of it. I have made some dear friends. I can say I will be back in Barcelona. I would recommend Adelante. Without them, none of this would have been possible. Spain in general is beautiful, but Barcelona has to be my favorite. It has everything. From mountains, oceans, beaches, forests, etc. They have the cold, breezy weather and the hot, humid weather.
The staff and program as a whole was a worthwhile opportunity
December 12, 2022by: Miles G.I think there's problems here and there with cleanliness of dorms and location choices, but overall I had a very positive experience. The staff and program as a whole I felt was a very worthwhile opportunity.
Internship in Chile
August 16, 2022by: Khong Xiong - United StatesThe internship abroad working for a non-profit organization in Valparaiso, Chile was an incredible experience. The Director, Pamela, was responsive and helpful if you have any questions regarding your concerns while you are abroad, changes to your homestay, and travel suggestions. However, I did not like taking the Spanish courses in Chile, coming in as a graduate Spanish major, because I thought it was not worth my time, for example, learning the greetings and grammar. If you're a beginner, I would recommend this. The professors were great, but I would have changed this if I had the chance to start over and started early with the internship. On the other hand, I liked the part about learning Chilean Spanish, the names of their food, and their culture. I thought it was helpful compared to grammar in Spanish. Overall, I enjoyed my time in Chile. I loved my time there!
A great experience
June 21, 2022by: Ysairys J.My CIEE internship in Barcelona, Spain is a great experience not just academically but also personally. I have learned so much about myself during these months and building connections is so important in life.
The coolest internship experience I could have hoped for!
April 20, 2022by: Kirsten Erickson - United StatesInterning abroad with Adelante was the experience of a lifetime. I interned as a mechanical engineering student at a creative coworking lab called Makerspace where I got to collaborate on innovative projects using 3D printers, laser cutters, and other cool tools with my coworkers in the lab. I also had the wonderful experience of leading a workshop in Spanish on 3D design in SolidWorks. My coworkers were extremely welcoming and made a strong effort to help me navigate Chilean culture and traveling as well as spending time with me outside of work! COVID definitely had a negative impact on the experience, as it made travel difficult and made half of my time at the internship virtual. Also, there were very few participants in the program, so it was a struggle to find friends to do things with. Nonetheless, the experience was overall very rewarding, and I highly recommend this program.

Berlin for the win!
September 24, 2020by: Jacquie T. - United StatesThis program was amazing! The staff and faculty are always willing to help with anything. Whether it's about your internship placement or advice for fun adventures in the city, the staff is there for you. This program has great opportunities to grow as a student and a professional in your field. The field trips and activities in this program allowed us to take our learning outside and explore a new culture. I couldn't recommend this program enough!

Amazing experience with medical internship in Chile
December 11, 2019by: Zoe Sterckx-Ziegler - United StatesI lived in Viña del Mar for four months and I wish I would have chosen to stay a full six months! I absolutely loved living in Chile and I will probably move back at some point. I was a little nervous before starting my program, because I didn't know what to expect in terms of my living situation, who I'd be living with, or what my internship would entail. When I arrived to the house, however, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the house and the amenities. My roommates changed throughout my stay due to the length and start dates of their stays, but I got along exceptionally well with all of them. The house is in a great location, only a few blocks from the beach and a beautiful muelle (pier), and about a 30 second walk to a supermarket. I always felt very safe in Viña. The spanish classes I took at the beginning did help me brush up on my vocabulary and grammar, and learn some of Chilean slang as there is a lot of it! My the professor even took me out of the classroom to explore Viña and Valparaíso. Valparaíso is just a short metro/bus ride away and it's a beautiful place to spend the day walking through the different colorful cerros (hills). It also has a very lively nightlife, however to stay safe I would recommend going with Chilean people who know the area and nightclubs! I did the medical internship and was placed in a kinesiology (physical therapy) office in the center of Viña, and it was walking distance from my house. It was difficult at first, however within a few weeks I was effectively communicating with patients, leading several patient sessions, and carrying out physiotherapy. My internship helped me so much with my spanish and confidence in communicating, and my coworkers were always eager to teach me. Overall I loved Chile and the people are very kind and welcoming. Be ready to eat the best bread of your life! Additionally, I felt this experience was very good for my resume as I've already been accepted into my top choice for graduate school.
I have had a great experience
August 03, 2019by: Maeve G. - United StatesI have had a great experience, it is organized and comes at a good cost. The staff on-site is very supportive and helpful (as well as Brooke in Portland), but we had an emergency situation and the Portland higher-ups didn't handle it well, nor did anyone answer the emergency number provided to us.
Abroad In Chile
June 04, 2019by: Marin Nagle - United StatesI had a wonderful experience aboard in Chile. My Spanish most definitely improved, or I should say my Chilean Spanish since they use so much slang. I loved our teacher so much, in fact I am still in contact with her. My internship placement also was great, I was an assistant to a professor who had other architecture projects as well. Very nice, welcoming, patient, and open minded. I did start out in a host family but I was not a great fit for me. Adalante though was wonderful in responding quickly and positively in helping find a new housing situation which I was so impressed by. I do recommend if you do the Viña Del Mar program to go during the summer there (winter in the states). I went when it was there fall going into winter, so it got a little boring in Viña itself since it was cold and the low season. This just means we went to Santiago and Mendoza more. During the summer though there would be a lot more to do and you can actually go in the ocean. Overall an awesome experience, I met some wonderful people, learned a little bit about a new culture, improved my Spanish, and my architecture. I also suggest if you can, schedule your flights so you have time to explore Chile itself before or after your internship. It’s such a unique county with its ranging landscapes, and places like Patagonia deserve more than just a weekend trip!
Great Program
April 23, 2019by: Jokeyni L.It was a great program. I would really only recommend it for an internship because I think you get the most out of it that way. I was going to study abroad I'd rather do it at a local university where I'm studying. My only complaint is that the whole CIEE experience isn't tailored very well to internships, and a lot of things conflict with work. It feels like the intern students are an afterthought, which I understand because most people are studying here.

After my arrival in Israel I had a great day in Jerusalem with coordinator Yan. He showed me the city of Jerusalem in another way that impressed me very much. Then we went to Tel Aviv for the project. The manager of the bakery Assaf is a very open, kind and talented person. We had a lot of fun working. The working hours were very flexible, so I could arrange my free time and, for example, go to the Dead Sea or take a tour with Yan through Tel Aviv. In the bakery I helped to prepare the recipes, operated the dishwasher, baked cakes and much more...I think we were a very good team! Outside of the project, I met many other travellers in the young - people Abraham hostel in Tel Aviv. We went out together in the evening and had a great time! In summary, I am very grateful for this experience! Also thanks to the Go Eco team who made this possible for me!
Amazing experience!

Amazing experience! Working in Assaf's bakery you learn not just the vegan pastries, but a lot of other stuff, also you get to know yourself much better. Assaf is amazing human being and can easily become your friend for life! If you want to volunteer in Tel Aviv, Yan is your man, best tour guide. This guy will take care of you better then your own mother!
My vegan bakery internship

I have only positive reviews for this program. As a solo traveler heading to the Middle East for the first time could be quite daunting. Throughout my whole experience from the weeks leading up to my trip, to my entire stay…not once did I feel alone, clueless or stressed. Every matter was addressed and made clear to me. Life changing adventure filled with culture, appreciation for world issues and new friends.
Vegan while in Israel
February 14, 2017by: Tasha P. - United StatesProgram: GoEco - Top Rated & Award Winning Volunteer Programs Abroad
I went to Israel to volunteer at a food bank originally but after talking with my field guide he suggested that I go to the bakery instead and being that I'm actually vegan I agreed. It was the best decision I made other than actually deciding to come to Israel and I'm so glad I was flexible on this. This decision made my trip 1000 times better. First, I love to cook but baking can be a little intimidating for me so I got the chance to watch bakers in their element and to draw from their confidence. Everyone was so nice and welcoming. I felt right at home from the first day. They put me right to work and the next time I looked up it was time to go home. The highlight for me of each day was our lunch breaks. One of the chefs would make a delicious vegan lunch for us all to share and I loved that we all sat down together and just relaxed around good food for a moment and talked. It was Awesome! The chefs also suggested good vegan places to eat during my stay in Israel and one of the sweet chefs even took the time to take me around to a few of them. I not only got to volunteer but I also got to see the non-touristy side of Israel which was priceless. I very much enjoyed my time at the bakery and plan to go back again in the summer.
