High School Volunteer and Adventure Experience in Nepal

Leave your comfort zone and come and experience true cultural immersion in Pokhara. This region is a melting pot of multiple religions, languages, musical influence, and foods, giving you a wonderful opportunity to expand your worldview. You will be living in a traditional Nepali village, attending daily local language lessons, and delving deeper into the local customs and traditions—all while giving back to the community on a variety of construction projects. This program is specifically designed for volunteers between the ages of 15 -17 years old. Younger volunteers will be under supervision, with training by world-class leaders in their field, chosen for their mix of relevant experience and ability to mentor and inspire young people.

Projects Abroad in Nepal

Projects Abroad Nepal has projects in Teaching, Care, Himalayan Mountain Conservation & Environment, and Medicine & Healthcare. As one of the world's poorest countries, volunteers are desperately needed in Nepal to help out in its schools and hospitals. Our office is based in the bustling city of Kathmandu - a city full of jostling crowds, rickety ox carts, and noisy auto-rickshaws. Most of our volunteer placements are located here too, although some are located in more rural areas of the Kathmandu valley. We also have some medical projects based in the lowlands area of Chitwan. Volunteers in Nepal live with host families. Some families welcome up to four volunteers into their home, and you'll usually share a room with one other volunteer. A couple of families even take up to twelve volunteers and these homes offer an experience more similar to living in a hostel. Nepal is a small yet stunning land of snow-capped mountains, majestic old temples, and the colorful city of Kathmandu. The home of Mount Everest draped along the backbone of the Himalayas, Nepal entices all kinds of people and they don't go home disappointed.

So i went on this trip, sceptical, fearful etc. It's a big step for any 16-17 year old to take, but it was so worth it. I mean i am visiting their website 3 months after my trip, looking at potential programs I am thinking of doing. They are caring, safe but also human. By this I mean you don't feel belittled by them because you are young... they give you the chance to take that first step into adulthood. Secondly, if you are the type of teenager to go volunteer in Asia in your holidays, do not doubt you will meet people with the same kind of mindset as you. I now have a network of friends across the globe, that's pretty awesome! They are brilliant, reliable and kind. 5/5. Thanks GVI!
