The MAIS program at DCU offers a broad, interdisciplinary study of all things intercultural. Many of the core courses are theory based. You have a choice of electives in departments ranging from Film Studies and Literature to Politics and Linguistics. At times, because of the nature of this interdisciplinary field, the course requirements feel scattered and not the most cohesive. The final semester is spent honing in on your research topic and brainstorming with your thesis advisor, before research and writing during the summer semester. Overall, this course is a great choice if your primary objective for grad school is academics based, but probably not the best choice if you are looking for practical work experience in the intercultural field. Perhaps an internship component of this program would solve that problem...
