Explore the Argentine cuisine, inspired by Italian and Spanish cooking, through the Mente Argentina Cooking Program. During the course one will be able to develop techniques and skills that are authentic to the Argentinean cooking. Course are designed for all levels cooks, whether you are a beginner or advanced, who want to widen their knowledge of Argentinean skills and cuisine. During the course students will learn how to prepare typical South American and Argentinean dishes with modern preparation, presentation techniques and advanced flavor combinations. The regular one month long cooking program focuses on how to prepare, not only classic dishes, but also light dishes, red meat entries, cakes and desserts. The two week intensive cooking program focus on the basic techniques of South American cuisine, divided into six interactive classes. Our Florence program is one of Abbey Road's most popular study abroad programs for nearly twenty years running. Our students benefit from the residential living experience in the heart of Florence and 24/7 support from our program staff of professional artists, chefs, photographers, and art historians. From daily classes in Italian Language, Photography, Studio Art, Tuscan Cuisine, and Art History to activities ranging from museum visits to Top Chef, we challenge our students daily to try new interests, expand their horizons, and make the most of this exceptional summer opportunity. We give our students fresh, high-quality food from local markets. Our culinary staff members shop for our students, they conduct Tuscan cuisine workshops where students learn to make some of the Florentine delicacies. We cook together one or two nights per week, on some nights we go out for group dinners at trendy local restaurants. Some nights we have catered meals. Are you interested in learning Spanish? Study at our school/hostel in the heart of Old Havana, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and take morning language lessons from Monday to Friday. In the afternoons, enjoy dance classes and cultural excursions. We also have weekend trips to the beach and a two-night/three-day road trip to Viñales. This is a busy program and offers the possibility of immersion into Cuban life—past and present—and the opportunity to understand what makes this amazing country so special. Our programs are for participants 18+, but we also welcome minors accompanied by an adult. Accommodation is in our licensed Casa Particulare, where you’ll share a dorm room with other students. You could also stay in a private room with an en suite bathroom for an extra fee. Couples, friends, and family who book a program together are automatically upgraded to a private room.
