Program Overview

Belize: Caribbean Reefs & Mayan Culture is an 8‑day teen travel program for high‑school students aged 14–18. Participants explore the jungles, Caribbean reefs, and Mayan cultural heritage of Belize, complete approximately 22 hours of community service, and participate in marine ecology, rainforest adventures, and cultural immersion.

Your adventure begins on the shores of Caye Caulker, where you’ll snorkel the world-renowned Meso-American Barrier Reef—home to sea turtles, nurse sharks, rays, and brilliantly colored coral. Then, trade sandy beaches for lush jungle as you head inland to uncover the secrets of Belize’s thriving ecosystems.

Track wild animals with expert guides, band tropical birds like a real ornithologist, and immerse yourself in local culture through farm tours, cooking workshops, and spirited Kriol drumming around the fire. Along the way, you’ll meet conservation leaders and learn how communities across Belize are working to protect their environment.

My son had a blast

My son went to Belize with Rustic Pathways summer 2025. He said he had a great time and enjoyed experiencing new things. He said Snorkeling was a favorite. As a parent I felt well informed and I enjoyed the fact they uploaded pictures for us to see

Rustic Pathways won a 2024 Travel Weekly Magellan Gold Award for Outstanding Health & Safety Innovations.

Rustic Pathways teen travel programs cost $1,995 to $13,680 for 2026, depending on destination and length. The average program costs $4,495 for 2 to 3 weeks.

The price covers lodging, all meals, in-country transport, domestic flights, activities, entrance fees, gratuities, and 24/7 Program Leader supervision.

The price does not include travel insurance, the one-time non-refundable enrollment fee, international airfare, or spending money.

Does Rustic Pathways offer scholarships or financial aid?

Yes. Rustic Pathways has awarded $3.6 million in scholarships and financial aid from company funds.

The Rustic Pathways Foundation is a separate legal entity and 501(c)(3) nonprofit. The Rustic Pathways Foundation awards its own Education Through Travel Scholarship to students from underserved backgrounds.
