Work with at-risk children in Antigua, Guatemala on this volunteer program. Placements include working in orphanages, rural schools, community centers, and street children programs. Projects focus on providing boys and girls with shelter, food, and education. Various educational, recreational, and health projects are ongoing to support these unfortunate children. Volunteers help keep children off the street and provide them with a happy, productive childhood. Depending on individual skills and interests, volunteers act as mentors, help with homework, organize sports and arts and crafts, and teach English. However, care and support are the most important things for these disadvantaged kids. This program is available all year round, with start dates every Monday. It’s designed to take place for as short as 1 week and up to 1 year. NOTE: This program qualifies for 3-4 university credits via our School of Record. Volunteers must be over 18 years of age or accompanied by a parent or guardian. We require background checks and proof of medical insurance.

Volunteer for the Visayans (VFV) provides a wide range of program choices for people wanting to Volunteer Abroad in the Philippines through our local community partners and our very own community centers. VFV endeavors to improve the quality of life of the community by providing responsive, efficient, and high-quality community service through our programs and projects that promote self-efficiency, well-being, and prosperity of individuals, families, and communities throughout the Visayas Region. VFV has initiated programs to address issues in social welfare, education, public health, and community development in rural areas surrounding Tacloban City. The design of our programs allows prospective participants of varied skills and professions to get involved with various projects. Travel to Zambia, where you will provide children and youth with much-needed sports coaching. Put your skills and passion to good use while answering the need for skilled trainers. As a volunteer, you will coach kids of different age groups and help develop essential skills – including communication and teamwork. You will also teach physical education, which includes fitness and healthy habits. Other than these, you will assist local communities in their initiatives – education, gender empowerment, and many more. You won’t just spend your entire stay working; there will be time to enjoy and relax as well. Immerse in rich cultural heritage through tours and local village visits. This project is an adventure club for 12-14 year old children focused primarily on extramural surfing and swimming lessons. The adventure club provides children with a valuable opportunity to take part in a range of outdoor activities from surfing and swimming to hiking and even sandboarding. An orientation in Cape Town is provided before the start of the project. There are anywhere from 5 to 20 children participating in the club every week. Volunteers are able to take free surf lessons during the school day and then help teach and lead groups of children after school. There are also opportunities to assist in community development or to help teach computer skills in schools during the day. Activities include teaching kids to swim, skate and surf, helping on hikes and running fun days and sports programs. so far over 300 children have learned to swim and over 80 have learned to surf!

The Real Uganda's volunteers assist our partners with a variety of classroom activities. Because local education is largely by rote, we want volunteers to feed these hungry little brains! Volunteers create interactive learning experiences and provide children with a loving and creative environment. Volunteers choose the age and topics to teach. Lesson plans are created based on student interest and national curriculum. Arts and crafts, sport, team building, and public health are popular. The aim is to encourage team work, fun, creativity, literacy, and general knowledge. This is a challenging and rewarding program for volunteers experienced in organizing children, such as camp counselors, day care workers, and people who generally love kids. Bring your games, songs, and enthusiasm to the village! Other activities such as women empowerment and community gardening may be on offer by the host organization. Volunteers should dig in and try everything. The exchange of ideas and culture is highly valued in Uganda. School terms vary annually but generally fall within these dates: • Feb 1 to Apr 30 • May 1 to Aug 15 • Sept 15 to Nov 30

Discover the exciting world of polocrosse on an authentic Zimbabwean equestrian smallholding. This intimate programme is ideal for those passionate about transforming lives of ex-racehorses, wanting to develop their horsemanship skills, and learn about the exciting sport of polocrosse. Work with Andy Taylor and his family to retrain racehorses for polocrosse, polo, and showjumping. Learn the basics of polocrosse, participate in games and tournaments, and explore the local area on horseback. Enjoy a 3-night horseback wildlife camping safari and assist in rehabilitating disabled children through horse interaction, visit local wildlife rehabilitation centres. Weekends feature sociable braais and the chance to experience life in Zimbabwe. Intermediate and above riding abilities accepted.

Volunteer with orphans at Olokii village in Arusha in this childcare project. You will work with a couple of orphanages that cater to infants and teens up to 18 years old. Your role mostly involves assisting everyone, including with the schoolwork and English learning of older children. Many of them come from a disadvantaged township community so your support will be greatly appreciated, especially by the kids. Tanzania is an amazing country with plenty of sightseeing and travel opportunities. Explore beaches, lakes, and mountains. Check out wildlife animals in safaris and national parks. Immerse yourself in the cultural diversity and hospitality of the locals. You don't need any qualifications to join this project. Volunteers across all nationalities from 15 to 65 years or older are welcomed with open arms. You don't need to speak the local language either. Work hours may vary, but you will normally help out from 8 am to 5 pm on weekdays.

Join an inspiring sports focused charity for a greatly varied internship. You'll be part of a small but fast-growing nonprofit organization that uses basketball as a tool to bring upliftment to the lives of kids in and around Accra, the capital of Ghana. The organization's mission is to offer professional coaching to talented youth. On top of this, the team works with kids in a number of communities in an effort to to boost their confidence, offers health education, and equip them with relevant life skills. As an intern, you will be joining this nonprofit at their training center just outside of Accra. Your role will be focused around marketing, fundraising, and communications. Depending on your skills, experience, and interests, you can expect to do fundraising research, write grant applications, help build key partnerships, and coordinate fundraising events. You might also help develop and implement marketing and fundraising strategies, and assist with monitoring and evaluation systems. This internship is an excellent opportunity to enjoy a multifaceted work experience in a thriving nonprofit organization.
