Homestay & Volunteering in the USA

Experience impactful volunteering in one of the various sectors through our USA homestay program. Immerse yourself in American life, contribute to local communities, and gain invaluable cross-cultural understanding. You will live with an American host family while volunteering 25-35 hours/week with non-profits. Our host families are mostly middle-class households providing internet, transportation, free time activities, and a welcoming environment across 18 states. For your volunteer work, you can choose from diverse fields like museums, healthcare, youth centers, community radios, and more. You may also do two volunteer placements. You do not need any prior experience, and at the end of the program, you’ll receive a participation certificate. Your placement with a family and volunteer job is assigned based on your preferred volunteer activity, a detailed questionnaire, a personality test, and a self-introduction letter. For your safety, we are partnering with Cultural Homestay International, which has 40+ years of experience, ensuring participant safety. Furthermore, all host families undergo thorough screening, including interviews, home inspections, and background checks.

GHRI Back-to-School Eye Screening for Kids

As the new school year approaches, the Global Health Reform Initiative (GHRI) is making sure children step into class with more than just new books and uniforms—they’ll also have the gift of clear vision. This September, GHRI will host a Back-to-School Free Eye Screening Program for school children in underserved communities. The program will provide: Free eye screenings to detect vision problems early. Distribution of glasses to children who need them. Eye health education for children, parents, and teachers. Good vision is vital for learning. A child who cannot see clearly will struggle to read, write, and keep up in class. By offering these services before school starts, GHRI ensures that more children begin the academic year ready to learn and succeed. But this impact can’t happen alone. GHRI invites volunteers from all walks of life, welcomes donations of glasses or funds, and seeks partnerships with individuals and organizations who share our mission of making healthcare accessible for all. Join us this September—let’s give every child the chance to see, learn, and dream clearly.

Great experience volunteering in HuaHin

I had a great time in Thailand volunteering through IVHQ. Their pre departure checklists and videos were really helpful, and gave me confidence. The handover to the local team was seamless, with pickups and transport working really well. During the placement, the accommodation was great, with a good range of extra activities to get involved in during our downtime. In my third week, I transferred to a private room, as my boyfriend joined, and this again was seamless, with local pickups and drop offs only a whatsapp away. And the placement itself was sooo rewarding! I did construction and renovation which was sometimes tough in the heat, but well worth it to see the gratitude on the faces of the pupils and teachers at the kindergarten.
