This project is an adventure club for 12-14 year old children focused primarily on extramural surfing and swimming lessons. The adventure club provides children with a valuable opportunity to take part in a range of outdoor activities from surfing and swimming to hiking and even sandboarding. An orientation in Cape Town is provided before the start of the project. There are anywhere from 5 to 20 children participating in the club every week. Volunteers are able to take free surf lessons during the school day and then help teach and lead groups of children after school. There are also opportunities to assist in community development or to help teach computer skills in schools during the day. Activities include teaching kids to swim, skate and surf, helping on hikes and running fun days and sports programs. so far over 300 children have learned to swim and over 80 have learned to surf!

The Kruger to Coast Adventure Tour will take you through some of the best highlights in southern Africa in terms of wildlife, culture and beaches. Begin your journey in The Kingdom of Eswatini (fromerly called Swaziland) where you will receive an orientation to the country and programme overall, and a tour of a local village. During the second and third week of the programme you will get involved in grassroots community projects here and make an active contribution to the lives of orphaned and vulnerable children. But first, head off on a five-day camping safari through the world-renowned Kruger National Park to spot big game. Become a part of the day-to-day life at the Hoedspruit Endangered Species Centre (HESC). HESC offers the opportunity to gain firsthand experience in the Centre's work. Wildlife Conservation Experience (WCE) is a 21-day program divided into 3 main sections: conservation, participation, and sightseeing. Conservation: The program focuses largely on conservation, wherein students acquire in-depth knowledge through several activities. These include targeted informal lectures, external courses from professional organizations, and physical work at the Centre. Participation: WCE participants get involved in the everyday care of many animal species at the Centre – cleaning, feeding, and assisting with or observing any veterinary activities occurring during their stay. They gain specific and personal knowledge of HESC's animals and operations/work. Sightseeing: The program enables participants to put theory into practice through direct observation in the wild or at other Centres specializing in research and conservation in areas different from HESC.

Make a difference to the wild animals of Africa on our Monkey Rehabilitation trip in South Africa. You don’t have to go far in South Africa to spot a vervet monkey. As their natural habitat shrinks and ours grows, they have adapted to life in ever-growing urban landscapes. While vervet monkeys are so cute (especially the young ones!), they’re just as smart. Wait until you see one opening a door or window to get to your food. This leads to conflict, causing many monkeys to be injured by disgruntled farmers or startled city dwellers. And then, there are the labs and people who think wild animals are pets. All this to say, there are plenty of monkeys in South Africa that need rehabilitation. And you can be a part of it! In this age, across the developed world, digital technology is fast becoming one of the main tools for learning. But in rural Africa, with its overcrowded classrooms, lack of teachers, and few resources, this is an impossible dream. Our partner learning center aims to address this widening gap between the haves and have-nots by giving children and young adults in South Africa access to the digital world and the knowledge of how to navigate it.
