Join us on an unforgettable journey into the heart of Mongolia’s nomadic culture. Located just outside Ulaanbaatar, this program offers volunteers the unique chance to live with traditional herder families and experience their daily way of life. Volunteers take part in seasonal activities such as herding animals, milking cows, goats, or mares, and preparing dairy products like yogurt, cheese, and dried curds. Depending on the season, you may help with moving livestock, gathering hay for winter, or welcoming newborn animals in spring. You’ll also share in family chores such as collecting water, preparing meals, or teaching basic English to children. Accommodation is provided in a traditional Mongolian dwelling, called a ger, with simple but authentic living conditions. In Ulaanbaatar, volunteers stay in a homestay with modern amenities. Meals are included throughout the program. This is more than just volunteering—it’s cultural immersion. By living and working alongside nomadic families, you’ll gain a deeper understanding of Mongolia’s traditions while making a meaningful contribution to preserving one of the world’s last remaining nomadic cultures.
