Volunteers For Peace (a Vermont-based nonprofit) can place you on a team of international volunteers who contribute to a meaningful community service project designed, planned, and hosted by local partners. We offer the most affordable projects and the best way to meet people from all over the world. Work project types vary by country but may include environmental and wildlife conservation, historic preservation, educational and language learning, archaeology, organic farming, and arts and festivals. We also have social services projects, which could involve working with children, the elderly, or refugees. United Planet works with refugee support centers in Chișinău, the capital city of Moldova. Both skilled and unskilled volunteers and interns are needed. Participants work in refugee support centers that provide temporary housing or daytime services, along with a diverse range of services to Ukrainian refugees. Support is needed with relocation, administrative, and hands-on physical work. Healthcare volunteers and trauma psychologists can also contribute greatly. English language skills are sufficient. Speakers of Russian or Ukrainian also have the opportunity to work with government-run shelters. Volunteer duties are assigned based on the highest priority at the time of deployment. Projects requiring support include: - Overnight Nonprofit Shelter and Support Center - Refugee Day Support Center - Refugee and Asylum Seeker Center - Government-run Refugee Shelter Volunteers receive ongoing guidance from United Planet’s Country Coordinator and Partner in Moldova. They also have an assigned Supervisor at the project site. They participate in an orientation and overview of the city before diving into their tasks and stay in a shared apartment with internet.
