Experience living in Ghana as you assist understaffed schools with taking care of the students and teaching them English. This project will allow you to learn more about life in Ghana and the impact that foreign aid has on the community, as you integrate into the school system and work alongside the teachers. During your time at the boarding school (you will be living in a separate location) you will lead educational games and interact with the children, help them learn English and help with some repair work around the school grounds. All this whilst living a stone throws away from stunning beaches!

Support athletic development among Ghanaian children and youth in this sports coaching program. This volunteer project aims to introduce new sports to local kids from a community outside Accra and help advance their game in the sport they already love. It also hopes to find the next generation of talents to compete in international teams. You will coach sessions at local schools, after-school clubs, and academies. As a volunteer coach, your responsibilities depend on your training and experience. You could organize events and sessions, and encourage mass participation or share your knowledge of a specific sport. You could also help different clubs in organizing matches between teams. You might be required to teach more than once in a day and help in matches during the evening and weekends when necessary. The project welcomes all sports coaching skills—football, basketball, tennis, rugby, swimming, and more. Participants with UEFA, FA Level One, and other qualifications are encouraged to join. Applications are accepted all year round and placements run from 2–12 weeks.

As a volunteer in our school project, you will teach children aged 3–15 at Yikene Primary School in Bolga. Volunteers may choose from English Language, Arithmetic, or ICT—our most popular subjects. You will work under the supervision of a trained teacher, with class sizes ranging from 20 to 35 students. We encourage volunteers to bring creativity to make lessons lively and engaging. Through this project, you will learn how to relate with school children, manage a class, understand how lessons are conducted in Ghana, and carry out class assessments. Volunteers who arrive during the school term will experience regular class sessions, while those who join during vacation will support our extra classes held during the summer programme. We provide guidance to help volunteers adapt, especially those facing language barriers or challenges in class control. By the end of your placement, you will have imparted valuable knowledge and built meaningful one-on-one connections with the children. Roles: Prepare lesson notes, conduct exercises and assignments, set class rules, ensure discipline, and manage classroom challenges.

Most community centers in Africa offer a safe haven for children—providing shelter, education, a meal, and a break from life on the streets. St. Miracle Works Educational Foundation partners with organizations across Ghana to support and care for children in need. Many of these youth have faced neglect or trauma and lack the compassion and love of a stable family. Volunteers play a vital role in offering training that helps young people become self-reliant or self-employed through education, support, and counseling. Teaching core subjects like English and Math, and promoting the value of education, are key focus areas. This project also tackles social and physical challenges affecting youth, such as gender issues, reproductive health, drug abuse, and HIV/AIDS awareness. Volunteers help lead discussions on these topics, offering guidance and encouragement. No prior experience is needed—just a caring heart and a desire to support disadvantaged children. The project focuses on prevention, rehabilitation, and outreach to give children a second chance through safety, education, and hope.

Help Our Generation Voluntary Organisation and its partner organization in Ghana provide support, care, and life skills to children who are in dire need. Volunteers work with street children and help raise their quality of life through teaching and promoting personal hygiene, among other activities. Although the country is rich in natural resources, Ghana has an ever-growing disparity between rich and poor, which has resulted in a significant portion of the population living in poverty. Things tend to significantly get worse for children, whose poor health and sanitation have contributed to child homelessness, high infant mortality, and low life expectancy rates. There is no special qualification for this project. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old and have an open mind and flexible attitude for working in a different environment. They must be energetic and enthusiastic about the various lives of Ghanaian children.
