Volunteer in Ghana with World Endeavors

Everything worked out great with my experience except for the fact that when i got there my program hadn't been organized at all and there were a bounch of misfortuned consequences because of that. But yes, I would still recommend World Endeavors to a friend or colleague.

The opportunity to volunteer abroad opens my eyes to a ton. I was able to understand how others live, I gained knowledge of the Ghana culture and courage to travel alone.

I learned about the different outlook on life, an appreciation for the simple things that I take for granted. I am so glad I got to experience their culture. It was an eye opening experience that makes me itch for more!

I enjoyed spending time with the kids in Ghana and bonding with them on a daily basis. The town I stayed in was very welcoming and the people made me feel at home right away.The effects of my contribution was the most enriching part of this experience. As an African-American male volunteer in Ghana, I could tell the kids really looked up to me as a big brother. The time and effort spent was priceless because the greatest gift I was able to give them was hope.This experience has motivated me to act on the opportunities I do have while inspiring me to continue helping those less fortunate.World Endeavors also made sure to arrange a very good living arrangement with three other volunteers. We each had our own room and got a long very well. I gained genuine friendship and love from a close-nit community. As a result, I will always have a home away from home in Ghana.

I learned a lot about the differences between hospitals and healthcare in the U.S. compared to that of Ghana. I appreciate even the smallest of things, and have a better perspective on life and what is really important.

Be willing to explore the area around you.I really enjoyed teaching abroad and will want to do it in the future. I now have a new perspective on the world around me.

It is the most amazing thing I have ever done in my life. I gained a whole new world view and appreciation of life and how much a smile or a helping hand can change the world.

I was in Ghana for a volunteer program of World Endeavors. From that experience, I gained a new view of life, I gained knowledge of a new culture, and I learned how to live simply. I plan to travel back to Ghana.

From volunteering in Ghana, I took away a perspective on life at home, a broader understanding of the world, and an even bigger desire to see more of the world

Meeting and working with the locals was the highlight of my time in Ghana. My experience has inspired me to pursue a graduate degree/career in International Law and Humanitarian Law.

I earned a new perspective on life and the medical field through volunteering in Ghana. My daily duties consisted of helping the nurses with their task, as well as going on rounds with the main doctors in the hospital.This experience has done wonders for my future plans. I want to go back to Ghana and work in some hospital but the experience I was able to receive while volunteering was amazing. I was able to do thing lots of undergraduate med students could only dream about.

The kids at my workplace were happy to have someone to play with, and wanted to learn more in the evenings, so I taught them about science and the values of staying in school. It was such a great experience and I want to volunteer again later in life.

I was a tutor at the orphanage that I lived at. I felt that I contributed to my host organization by actually getting through to a few kids while tutoring which made me feel really special. This volunteer experience taught me how to approach different situations...such as being more open to how all people live and interact differently. As for my accommodation, I was very pleased with my room and where I was living. It was awesome to be able to walk out the back door and be able to play with the children. They are what made the trip so worthwhile. I now look at the world much differently than I had before.

While in Ghana, I was exposed to so many components of the local culture, and they taught me so much about the importance of life experiences. I also gained friends for life.

Being a volunteer left me with a worldly perspective that greatly enhanced my appreciation of the life that I live in America. I feel so blessed and lucky for everything that I have in my life. It was also a wonderful training experience for my future in education.

Going through the program in Ghana with World Endeavor, I learned to appreciate even the smallest conveniences in life. Also, life is not about material items. When a person has joy, spirituality, family, and health, then they have life.

During my time volunteering in Ghana with World Endeavors and meeting a number of people, I gained a view of the world that I will always remember. I stepped outside of my comfort zone, and it was scary at first but I ended up loving it.

Through my volunteer experience in Ghana, I learned to have a greater appreciation for what I have here in America and a better understanding of how other people live.

The people at the school and village have been extremely friendly and helpful. Meeting the other volunteers and getting to know them has been great.

My time in Ghana was amazing. not only was I able to gain experience in a new place, but I was taken in by a loving family that ensured my growth and development in more than one aspect. My time in Ghana with Mr. Boateng and his family helped me to want to learn more about ways I could give back, but also ways that I could learn about the needs of cultures and people other than my own. In addition my advisor from The World Endeavors program ensured that I was fully prepared before, during and after my experience, and helped ease any anxiety I was feeling about being in a new place for the first time.
