In this program, you will get to live in tropical Sigatoka. Furthermore, you will teach, motivate, and build confidence among several young kids who are so eager to learn and improve their skills in the classroom. By the end of the program, they may be able to have a real conversation in English and they’ll have you to thank. Volunteer tasks may include fostering a safe and educational environment, teaching fundamental English to kids 4-7 years old, creating lesson plans and activities, and developing skills such as reading, writing, and speaking English. Volunteer on this teaching project and dive into a truly unique, raw, and exclusive local Fijian experience! The island lies in the outer regions of the Mamanuca Islands, approximately an hour away via a fast ferry from the mainland. It is a volcanic island with a steep, grass-covered interior, rocky coastline, and long sandy beaches. While on the program, you have full access to one of the few traditional Fijian island villages left in this region. The placement is centered around a local public school where approximately 100 students, from kindergarten to grade 6, come to learn each day. This is a challenging role, wherein you truly make a positive impact and likely gain an appreciation for the simple things in life. As a volunteer, you work with the local teachers and coordinators to design fun, interactive lessons and provide alternative teaching methods and intercultural learning.
