Volunteer in Fiji with World Endeavors

World Endeavors offers exciting programs that allow participants to experience Fiji while contributing to the community in a meaningful way. Volunteers can choose from a variety of immersive, unique and rewarding community engagement projects like Island Project Construction, Health Check-up Camps, and Youth Sports Coaching! Fiji is an archipelago of 333 sun-kissed, picture-perfect islands tucked away in the South Pacific, close to Australia and New Zealand. It’s famed for its rugged landscape of blue lagoons and palm-lined beaches, and eco-activities ranging from mountain climbing and surfing to soft-coral diving and zip-lining. Its major islands, Viti Levu and Vanua Levu, contain the lion’s share of the population, meaning much of the country is uncrowded. Volunteer projects are available in Suva, the capital city of Fiji, and Sigatoka, known as Fiji's adventure capital.

Women & Children Commune in Fiji

This volunteer program offers much-needed care and support for a community comprising almost 400 women from disadvantaged backgrounds. Home to predominantly single mums, their children, and some extended family members, the place will greatly benefit from an extra set of hands. The project needs volunteers with diverse skills and from all backgrounds. Take on a unique role, different from that of other volunteers. But, ultimately, you offer an extra set of hands to help lessen the burden of day-to-day operations around the commune. This way, the residents can utilize their time to determine how to earn income and bring themselves and their families out of poverty. As a volunteer, you're expected to bring a positive can-do attitude and a willingness to help the less fortunate. Your time in the commune typically involves between 4 and 6 hours of assistance from Monday to Friday. Upon orientation, you’ll be assigned a coordinator to help you integrate into the community so you feel welcomed and at home. We also have a kindergarten at the commune, where volunteers wishing to assist children can work.

My experience on The Gold Program Ghana was more than I could have expected. The staff and people at the volunteer compound were professional, considerate and fun. The grade 3 class I taught at was welcoming and friendly. The kids and staff at the school have provided me no end of memories.
