In the water project, our team will construct a water system, in which a freshwater source will be connected via gravity-driven aqueduct to the homes of every family. In the sanitation project, families in need of bathrooms will have ventilated improved pit latrines built adjacent to their homes. We are looking for dynamic, adventurous volunteers to help deliver water in the Southern DR region! This is a great opportunity to experience what the culture has to offer while giving back to local communities. We have committed to the delivery of 2000 gallons of free water for the next 12 months and are looking for assistance to ensure it goes as needed. Your journey starts with taking one of our ATVs or motor scooters into the mountains to deliver clean water and to offer immediate food assistance (optional). If interested, you also have the opportunity to offer eye exams in a small community or be a part of a restoration project for a deserving family. Your trip ends with a relaxation day at our pool or an adventure day of hiking, parasailing, or white water rafting near the mountains. Established in 2014, CAYE works in the Northern Region and parts of the Central Region to empower young people, women, and small-scale farmers to improve their livelihoods and contribute to national development. CAYE focuses on youth empowerment, agriculture, environment and climate change, health, and education. The organization supports smart agriculture and value chain development to increase food security, create jobs, and raise incomes. It also promotes climate change awareness, environmental protection, and sustainable natural resource management. In health, CAYE improves access to essential services and promotes safe water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH). In education, the organization supports early childhood development and helps youth and women access quality learning and skills training opportunities. CAYE supports over 260 youth through training, mentorship, VSL, cooperative development, and community projects.
