The ancient temples of Banteay Chhmar are one of the most significant yet least understood archeological complexes. The temples date back to the Angkor period, which ended in the late 14th century. Sadly, the Banteay Chhmar complex was severely looted throughout the 1990s because of its remote location and proximity to the Thai border. Now considered one of the most endangered sites in the world, the complex is in desperate need of renovation. Journey to an ancient temple complex to help with historical and cultural restoration. Your efforts won't only bring a much-needed boost to the local economy, but also hope to the local community!

Volunteer abroad in a project that provides an education center for Cambodian children from the surrounding poor communities. With the help of local tradesmen and volunteers, our partner has constructed a school attended by more than 300 kids. With the increasing number of students, the school is in continuous need of new buildings, toilets, pathways, and other facilities. Your placement starts with a one-week orientation dedicated to learning about the pace of life, customs, and traditions in Cambodia. You will visit temples and take part in a Q&A session with local monks to learn about Buddhism. You will also take basic ‘survival’ language classes and learn traditional cooking techniques. In the next few weeks, depending on the length of your stay, you will engage in light construction work for 4–5 hours a day. Your tasks may include building sanitation facilities, renovating playgrounds, and painting. This project doesn’t require specific construction skills as you will learn on-the-go. If you have an artistic talent, you’ll have the opportunity to decorate walls with murals.

The Globalteer Cambodia Community Project is located in the town of Siem Reap, near the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Wat. The program works with carefully selected independent partner projects in and around the city. Globalteer works with projects that provide free supplementary education programs, vocational training, and access to free healthcare and nutrition. We also work with projects that develop sustainable agricultural programs for their communities as well as with a specialist clean drinking water project that drills wells for some of the poorest villagers in the region and installs highly effective water filters to prevent the spread of often serious and sometimes fatal water-borne diseases. The program focuses on the poor and vulnerable, helping them and their families to establish long-term solutions to their needs through education, healthcare, nutrition, and income generation.

Inspire, Educate & Empower Communities Across the World Are you passionate about education and cross-cultural exchange? Do you dream of making a positive impact while traveling the world? With Volunteering Journeys’ English Teaching Programs Abroad, you can inspire young minds, build confidence, and open opportunities for children and adults across Peru, India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, and the Maldives. Whether you’re a student on a gap year, a certified teacher, or simply a fluent English speaker looking to make a difference, teaching abroad is one of the most rewarding ways to contribute to global education while immersing yourself in fascinating cultures. In many developing regions, English proficiency opens the door to education, employment, and better economic opportunities. However, limited resources and teacher shortages often leave students without access to quality English education. By joining Volunteering Journeys’ teaching programs, you’ll help bridge this gap. You’ll work in local schools, community centers, or after-school programs — improving English literacy, conversational confidence, and cultural awareness.

World Endeavors offers exciting programs that allow participants to experience Cambodia while contributing to the community in a meaningful way. Volunteers can choose from a variety of immersive, unique, and rewarding community engagement projects, including Temple Conservation, Mangrove Conservation, or teaching children from impoverished backgrounds at a remote school. Once known as the Khmer Empire, Cambodia is perhaps best known for its monumental temples, especially Angkor Wat. It is a country of incredible beauty, scattered with these temples, fertile rice fields, and a rich and interesting history. Following its independence from France, Cambodia experienced years of civil war, turmoil, and political corruption, as well as suffering from its involvement in the Vietnam War. Despite this dark history, Cambodia is an extraordinary country and has prevailed due to what has been described as the unbreakable spirit of the Cambodian people.

Join us for the adventure of a lifetime! Volunteers For Peace (a Vermont-based nonprofit) can place you on a team of international volunteers who contribute to a meaningful community service project designed, planned, and hosted by local partners. We offer the most affordable projects and the best way to meet people from all over the world. Work project types vary by country but may include environmental and wildlife conservation, historic preservation, educational and language learning, archaeology, organic farming, and arts and festivals. We also have social services projects, which could involve working with children, the elderly, or refugees. Projects are designed to combine service with recreational activities and cultural exchange – whether by visiting local beaches, learning local dances, meeting local officials, or volunteering with residents at the place you’re visiting. Each project is unique, but all bring people together for the most meaningful travel experience imaginable. Please note that VFP can only place US Citizens. This is due to our agreements with our international partners.

Do more than experience Cambodia in this Globe Aware volunteer program abroad. Make a real, lasting impact on the lives of children and people from village communities by participating in a range of projects. These include repairing homes in indigent areas, assembling wheelchairs, and interacting with students in a local school. Cambodia is one of Southeast Asia’s most fascinating countries. Siem Reap and the Angkor Wat temple complex are among the country’s top tourist draws; however, most Cambodians don’t benefit from the blossoming tourism industry. A large percentage of people still live in poverty and children are in need of attention. With your participation in this volunteer program, you’ll have the opportunity to make a difference in any way you can. The Volunteer Vacation program of Globe Aware is based in Siem Reap. You’ll live in a simple hotel setting together with other participants. Accommodation amenities include running hot water, electricity, and flushing toilets.

We have a community development project in rural Cambodia where circular economy initiatives support a free education center for impoverished youth. We offer free classes to the community, as well as help them gain access to higher education and resources. Our school is supported by the production of recycled products & bamboo straws, an organic skincare line developed from our permaculture farm, and wellness retreats. We seek volunteers and interns to help us develop our educational curriculum for students, assist teachers, work on our organic farm, develop strategies for selling our programs, create sustainable systems in our eco-pool and eco-building projects, and work on sustainable leadership with our Environmental Initiatives Level Four class. There are many aspects of our program where we could use more hands. We like to develop a personalized mission for all volunteers and interns to maximize impact and create a clear mission that utilizes individuals' skills.
