I highly recommend this program! I greatly enjoyed experiencing the culture in Santiago de Compostela, and my Spanish comprehension improved significantly. The homestay family was excellent and very welcoming. The course focused on medical Spanish as well as culture and grammar. I enjoyed the hands-on activities at the hospital.

June 28, 2025by: Kayla AyalaProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
I did the healthcare program in Santiago de Compostela. Through this program I learned so much Spanish, immersed myself in the culture, and gained valuable knowledge about the hospitals. I faced no challenges and strongly advise future students to find something to do every day and make the best of it.

I highly recommend this program with Arcos Learning Abroad. It offers a lot, including the benefit of improved language skills. A tip for future participants: practice speaking Spanish in real life before coming to Spain. Be prepared to adjust to a different daily schedule.
Incredible experience
May 28, 2025by: Carmen MassayProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
The directors were amazing and provided an incredible experience. The homestay was wonderful; my host mom is an amazing person. The program was very good with hands-on components through the cultural activities. I learned many valuable lessons and highly suggest this program! Tip: Pack light.
I got to connect with myself and see beautiful things
July 29, 2024by: Luna GonimaProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
The Spanish professors were phenomenal and the placement test was perfect in finding the level I needed. I loved my host mom and miss her so much! I was dealing with the passing of a close family member before I left for this trip and I think this helped me not wallow in grief since I had to keep up and get up every morning. I got to see a lot of beautiful things and connect with myself on this trip. I greatly appreciate the opportunity to do that.
Many experiences in only 4 weeks
July 29, 2024by: Georgia SeminetProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
Our guide did a good job and he is very knowledgeable. Four weeks isn't a lot of time, but we packed in many experiences in the time that we had. As a faculty leader, I really enjoyed seeing the students in a different light, outside a classroom, appreciating their uniqueness and seeing how they dealt with new cultural experiences.
I would go again if I could!
July 29, 2024by: Sabreen JadaProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
I thoroughly enjoyed being able to be fully immersed in Spanish culture, and having the opportunity to learn from professors at Universidad de Santiago. Overall, I had a enriching experience that I would go on again if given the option. I enjoyed my homestay, which was full Spanish immersion (no English). I would advise future students to make the most of the program.
Personal growth and language learning
July 29, 2024by: Gerad SandateProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
The program allowed me to learn Spanish while also being able to explore the country. I was able to learn a language in a country that primarily speaks the language while also being able to grow on a personal level. What an amazing director! Remember to pack light.
I am more confident now, and grateful for the opportunity
July 29, 2024by: Victoria MullerProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
I really liked the Arcos director. If you asked him things he always had an answer. I am exited to go back one day and see him again! My host mother was the sweetest. I made a lot of friends. I’m more confident now and very thankful for all the opportunities.
Innovative and attractive program for students
July 29, 2024by: Kelley Coblentz BautchProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
Our Arcos director was a knowledgeable guide who had the stamina to lead a large group. As a faculty leader, I am so happy the students could study Spanish. Being in Spain was wonderful and this was a unique opportunity. I think the program was very innovative and attractive to a variety of students.
I didn't want to come back home!
July 29, 2024by: Clarice ClaiborneProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
The Spanish professors were welcoming and open, and the school day was structured well. My advice is to pack lighter than you think you need to. The hardest part is not wanting to go back home when it’s all done. The greatest benefits were immersing myself in another culture and learning a new language.
Learned a lot
July 29, 2024by: William BurdProgram: Arcos Learning Abroad in Santiago de Compostela, Spain
The full immersion where the professor only spoke in Spanish really improved my listening comprehension, and feeling comfortable speaking in class really pushed my speaking ability. My professor had a lot of energy and tolerance for our novice level and I learned a lot from her.
