Spend a summer studying and traveling through 3 fabulous European cities with the AIFS Abroad Western European Cinema study and travel program! You’ll spend 9 nights in London, 6 nights in Paris, and 5 nights in Rome. Europe is both the place where cinema began and a world leader in the film industry in the 21st century. You will examine the development of film and approaches to filmmaking across Western Europe as you earn 3 credits through Fairfield University. This course is taught in English. World Class Programs offers high school students the opportunity to study abroad in Florence, Italy. Our summer program is designed for teens from all academic backgrounds who are excited about immersing themselves in Italian culture and lifestyle. This pre-college program offers various course study options, including Art History, Fine Arts, Philosophy, Photography, Architecture, Italian language, and Tuscan Cuisine. Students can choose a major course for daily focus (Monday to Friday) in the mornings for three hours. Then, they attend elective classes, each lasting two hours, three times a week in the afternoons. On weekends, they go on day trips around Italy to explore cultural differences from city to city. Locations vary yearly; previous participants have visited Cinque Terre, Siena, Pisa, and Venice!

The Fall 2026 program in Rome, Italy, is a unique opportunity to explore the world’s greatest capital through the prism of art, photography, and film. During this semester-length program, you will explore Rome. Learn international film history, theory, and aesthetics and study film directors as well as photography throughout the program with Professor Michael Stinson. In addition, study Art History with a local instructor. The Eternal City of Rome is one of the original centers of cinema and host to the legendary film studios of Cinecittá. The weeks leading up to the holiday season are a wonderful time to be in Rome – the weather is crisp, holiday markets are open, and vendors sell roasted chestnuts on the street corners. When not busy studying film, you’ll explore all that Rome has to offer and learn to capture stunning images of your trip against a backdrop of over two thousand years of art and architecture.

Study abroad with the New York Film Academy (NYFA) in Florence, where we have provided intensive, hands-on programs since 2003. We currently offer Filmmaking and Acting for Film courses, lasting from 1 week (4, 6, 8 weeks) to a semester. NYFA Florence's facilities are located in the neighborhood of Santa Croce, whose curved streets are the remnants of the amphitheater built 2,000 years ago! Wander through historic sites and charming places within the city's limits on either side of the river Arno. Florence's vibrant atmosphere and artistic achievements make it an ideal setting for aspiring film and acting students to experience a new culture while honing their craft. Although intensive, our programs don’t require previous experience.
