Study Abroad in Greece with CYA (Semester/Academic Year)

CYA (College Year in Athens) has been offering study abroad programs in various academic disciplines for over 60 years. Athens, a European capital, is rich in history and a contemporary hub for art, international business, and relations and debate on economic, political, and migration issues. With supplemental activities varying from archaeological digs to on-site courses and from study travel to volunteer opportunities, students can actively engage with their course material. They live in apartments in downtown Athens. A homestay option is also available, where they're inspired to immerse themselves completely in a historic environment. The CYA curriculum consists of academically rigorous courses taught by expert faculty. Course offerings encompass a range of academic disciplines and are taught in English. Optional language courses are available (Modern & Ancient Greek, Latin). Each semester, classroom lectures are complemented by on-site courses and field studies of major historical and contemporary sites around Greece.

Odyssey in Athens is a study abroad program offered through Webster University Athens. Located in the center of Athens, in the historic section of the Plaka area—right below the Acropolis, this campus is a perfect location for formal study and study abroad. Students from all over the US with a wide variety of majors can participate and receive academic credit that transfers back to their home institution. All courses are taught in English by a highly qualified faculty from the US and abroad. Students can choose from a variety of courses and don’t need to interrupt their studies to come abroad. PAIDEIA Semester Study Abroad Program in Greece

Spend a semester studying abroad in Greece through PAIDEIA’s academic program. Students take a minimum of 4 and a maximum of 5 three-credit courses, all taught in English. The course menu includes History, Archeology, Business, Arts, Culture, Political Science, and Marine Science as well as complementary Modern Greek language lessons. Foreign language courses are also available: Russian, Armenian, Turkish, Arabic, and more. The Department of Balkan, Slavic, and Oriental Studies can arrange classes upon request. Courses are taught by regular professors at Aristotle University, the University of Macedonia, the University of Aegean, and the Hellenic Center for Marine Research of Greece. Transcripts are issued by affiliated Greek universities. Scholarships are available to qualified students as well as a $500 reduction against the tuition fees for students with a GPA of 3.7 or higher at the time of application. It is an ideal study abroad destination because it is located in one of the world's most renowned and safe cities. Its idyllic campus is the springboard for exploring Athens and the nearby Greek islands. ACG is the largest American college or university in Europe, and a truly international learning community. Students in almost every academic major can find courses to apply towards graduation in their home institution. All classes at the college are taught in English. Transferring credits is easy because the college is accredited by the New England Commission on Higher Education (NECHE) in the United States, and its degree programs are validated in the UK by the Open University.

I loved living in Greece and doing a Spring Semester with CYA; I will I could be there still! As an Ancient World Studies major, getting to experience the sites in person that I have read about/seen pictures of was so amazing. One of the classes I took was completely on-site, meaning we visited different parts of ancient Athens every class, which was great! I loved exploring Athens and connecting with Greek culture. I even took a marble carving class set up by CYA which was very cool. CYA also took us on many trips across Greece, so I got to see other parts of the country as well. There are so many great things to say about my stay in Greece, but I highly recommend studying there with CYA!
