As the "birthplace of democracy," students can walk in the footsteps of the world's greatest philosophers like Plato and Aristotle. With a recorded history of over 3,400 years, the history of Athens is almost incomparable to that of any other city in the world. While the remains of ancient Athens are still prevalent throughout the city these days, the city is as young and vibrant as ever. Students gain access to the countless museums, cafes and tavernas, local shops, and farmers' markets, not to mention the country's famous Greek islands. The Arts, Business, Liberal Arts & Sciences semester program and the Business & Liberal Arts Summer programs at The American College of Greece (ACG) offer a great variety of courses from three schools: the School of Arts & Sciences, the School of Fine & Performing Arts, and the School of Business. Popular subject areas include Business, Performing & Visual Arts, and Psychology. Courses are taught by ACG faculty at ACG, and students take courses with local and visiting international students. Program: Summer Study Abroad in Greece with CYA

The summer of 2025 was the best one yet. I spent a month studying abroad in Greece. Imagine getting college credit while traveling around Greece. My program was the EmpowerED program based in Volos and my apartment was waterfront. The class size was small and we were all super close by the end of the month. A unique aspect of this program is that it is based at a Greek university and we had Greek students in our class. This gave me a unique look into Greek culture as I got to explore local places and Greek traditions. The course was set up so that there is a lot of free time to travel and explore. There are also trips incorporated into the class. I visited Greek islands, historical sites, and lots of beaches. I can not recommend this program enough. So if you are even thinking about studying abroad with College Year in Athens, go ahead and do it.
