Prague: An Experience Full of Life-Long Memories
September 08, 2026Grace Mossad - United StatesProvider: CEA
Program: CEA CAPA Education Abroad in Prague, Czech Republic
Living in Prague for 2 months during the summer of 2026 was an unforgettable and life changing experience. I was given the opportunity to live in a major European city, housed in an apartment building alongside locals just minutes outside of the city center. I took two courses through CEA Education Abroad, one technical and one humanities course, both counting towards my chemical engineering major at the University of Michigan. Not only was I able to see the most impeccable works of art, architecture, and music I have ever encountered, I was able to do so with new friends that I made, and I am confident that those friendships will last a lifetime. I was also able to explore 9 additional countries thanks to CEA CAPA's travel-friendly schedule, and those travels made a huge positive impact on my view of the world. I gained a global perspective that I could only have learned through first-hand experience, and I made memories that will be with me forever.

Poor communication and completely disorganized

Great experience but not because of AFS. Communication was terrible throughout the entire process. Completely disorganized- I arrived a week AFTER school had started. Significant program fee for zero support from the company. I would strongly recommend the experience, but don't use AFS.
Once in a Lifetime Study Abroad
September 08, 2026Rafid Quayum - United StatesProvider: SIT Study Abroad
Program: SIT Study Abroad: Argentina: People, Environment, & Climate
Truly a once-in-a- lifetime opportunity to study abroad in both Southern Patagonia and Antarctica. When else will you be able to travel to Antarctica through the lens of being an exchange student? You truly are integrated into the Spanish-speaking community in Ushuaia with both your host families and your program cohort, and your Spanish-speaking ability increases tenfold. The program director, Maria, is very supportive and wants all of her students to succeed, and will support you through any hardships you may face. The only downside was pre-program departure- the steps are very unclear regarding the need for a Visa, and getting on my flight, I had to purchase another flight outside of the program, leaving Argentina in 90 days (just to prove that I wouldn't overstay the tourist period, not that I would actually be taking this flight to leave the country), which the program said should not be necessary but then I still had to do. I then had trouble getting the ticket refunded, but SIT ended up covering the cost of this extra flight for the headache of it all. Also, homestay families are not created equal- some are definitely more accommodating than others, but Maria and the program staff are all there to help you through any obstacles, and if there is a problem, they are more than willing to step in to resolve it. Overall, even despite the few hiccups, this program is an experience that I will never forget and am so lucky to have had. The nature and hiking around Ushuaia are unmatched, the community is very welcoming, and the educational resources/research in the area are exceptional.
Extraordinary
September 08, 2026Natalia Perez - MexicoProvider: International Volunteer HQ [IVHQ]
My experience volunteering in Tanzania with IVHQ has been absolutely incredible and has exceeded my expectations in many ways. From the very beginning, everything was very well organized, which made the whole experience much easier and more enjoyable. The staff were always available to help, answer our questions, and make sure that we felt comfortable and supported throughout our stay. Their organization and dedication made a big difference and allowed us to focus on the most important part of the experience: helping and connecting with the local community. One of the things I enjoyed the most was meeting so many amazing people. Everyone we met was incredibly welcoming, kind, and friendly, and they made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Being able to interact with local people and learn about their culture, traditions, and daily lives was one of the most valuable parts of the trip. It was a great opportunity to step outside of my comfort zone, experience a completely different environment, and see things from a new perspective. During our volunteering experience, we were able to do a lot of meaningful work. It was very rewarding to see that our time, effort, and energy could contribute in a positive way. Even though some tasks were challenging, they were always worthwhile because we could see the importance of what we were doing. Working together with other volunteers also made the experience even better. We supported each other, shared responsibilities, and created great memories along the way. Another aspect that made this experience so special was the feeling of being part of something bigger than ourselves. Volunteering gave me the opportunity not only to help others but also to learn from them. I realized that even small actions can make a difference, and that sometimes the most important thing we can offer is our time, enthusiasm, and willingness to help. The experience also taught me to appreciate things that I sometimes take for granted in everyday life. Overall, my time volunteering in Tanzania with IVHQ has been one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had. I am very grateful for the opportunity to meet incredible people, experience a new culture, and take part in work that felt meaningful and impactful. I have learned a lot, grown as a person, and created memories that I will never forget. I would definitely recommend this experience to anyone who is looking for an opportunity to make a difference while also challenging themselves, discovering a new place, and creating genuine connections with people from different backgrounds. I am leaving Tanzania with a very full heart, a greater appreciation for the world around me, and many unforgettable memories that I will carry with me for a long time.
TEFL.org is very thorough in reviewing one's answers.
September 08, 2026Maureen Abadom - NigeriaProvider: The TEFL Org
The tutor kept sending feedbacks and me to rewriting my answers . He also asked me different questions from the ones that are on the system . They did all these to ensure that I wasn't using AI for my answers and I understood the questions very well.initally, I wasn't happy with the back and forth;but later, I realised that the back and forth process made me to understand the course very well more than I was studying
Best travel experience yet

I lived in the community Nueve de Junio, Sacha Waysa, for one month. It was such an amazing experience, I got to really connect with the people in my community, learn a lot from their experiences, travel around Napo and meet others, and make a lasting connection with everyone I met. I hope to go back at least one more time in the next year (maybe during the fruit season) because of how close I got with my host family. I learned a lot about the land and Ecuador in general which was great, and Im glad Im still in contact with my hosts because I miss them already.

Program: Teaching Internship (with TEFL Certificate) in Asia & Europe
I believe this programme is a great opportunity for anyone who feels lost, uncertain, or unsure about their career path. Many people reach a point where they are questioning their future, looking for direction, or trying to gain experience that will help them make informed decisions. This programme provides a unique opportunity to step outside of your comfort zone, challenge yourself, and gain valuable practical experience while contributing to a meaningful project. One of the most rewarding aspects of the programme is that it allows participants to make a positive impact while also benefiting personally and professionally. In exchange for your time, effort, and commitment, you receive funding, practical experience, and the opportunity to develop a wide range of transferable skills. These skills include communication, teamwork, adaptability, problem-solving, and confidence, all of which are highly valued in any career. For me, the experience was much more than simply teaching English. It gave me the opportunity to interact with people from different backgrounds, learn about a new culture, and gain a better understanding of how education and teaching are approached in another country. Building relationships with local children, teachers, and fellow participants was incredibly rewarding and helped me develop both my interpersonal skills and cultural awareness. I think it is important for anyone considering this programme to understand its purpose and expectations before joining. While the programme offers many benefits, participants should not view it solely as a way to travel or receive funding. The real value comes from being actively engaged, contributing positively to the project, and embracing the learning opportunities that arise throughout the experience. Having realistic expectations and a willingness to contribute will help ensure a more meaningful and rewarding experience. It is also important to keep an open mind throughout the programme. Things may not always go exactly as planned, and there may be challenges along the way. However, these challenges often become some of the most valuable learning experiences. Being flexible, adaptable, and willing to learn from different situations can help participants grow both personally and professionally. I would encourage future participants to take the opportunity to share their own experiences and knowledge while remaining open to learning from others. Every interaction offers a chance to gain a new perspective, better understand different cultures, and develop greater confidence in your own abilities. The programme creates an environment where mutual learning and personal growth can thrive. Overall, I would highly recommend this programme to anyone who is looking for direction, meaningful experience, or an opportunity to challenge themselves. It not only provides practical skills and valuable experience but also encourages personal development, cultural understanding, and self-confidence. If you approach the programme with the right mindset, a positive attitude, and an openness to learn, it can be a truly enriching and life-changing experience.

I had a wonderful experience here in China 😁 the family were very nice and understanding. This experience really makes me want to come back to China some day. I learned more about the culture and the language, which was one of my reasons for coming to China. I had a very fun time with Lucas and greatly enjoyed everyone's company. I learned how some foods are made and hope to replicate them at home [Joyful] I really like Guangzhou. It's a beautiful city with amazing food and architecture. Thank you so much for this experience, it means so much to me. I am very very grateful for everything I've managed to enjoy here and hope to get another chance like this in the future. Thank you very much

Paris was a grand time!
September 07, 2026Siyona Naidu - United StatesProvider: CEA
Studying abroad is one of the best decisions I could have made. I found it to be a great learning experience and a taste of independent life. I enjoyed the freedom of getting to visit any place in the city, as well as neighboring cities and countries. I traveled to 3 other countries and went on both CEA-sponsored trips. I had a blast in the academic center and made a lot of great friends. I liked the instructors that I had for my Thermodynamics and Architecture classes. They were not trying to trick us or fail us, and they did a lot to incorporate the city of Paris into the class content. I took the train and metro everywhere! I didn't realize how convenient it was to get around. I was used to NYC subways, but Paris metros were so much better. The transportation system everywhere (even in Switzerland and Germany) was very easy to figure out. Pros: the great food ease of transport not really a language barrier Cons: cost of souvenirs transportation doesn't run after 1 am

Choosing what to study wasn’t an easy decision at first. The online learning experience at New Anglia University really helped make things clearer. The classes are interactive, engaging, and give you the opportunity to be involved rather than simply watching and listening. That experience made the subjects much more interesting and helped build a genuine interest in medicine. It gave me the confidence to commit to this path, and I’m now looking forward to continuing my studies and working towards becoming a doctor.

My experience with Korea GapYear was truly amazing. Honestly, if it wasn’t for my school schedule, I would have loved to stay much longer in Korea. I have always dreamed of building a family in the future, and I have always loved spending time with children. I also had a strong desire to live abroad and experience life in a different country, so this was something very special for me. From the beginning, Korea GapYear helped me so much and match me with a host family that was a perfect for me. I was really lucky to meet such a wonderful family. They cared about me, supported me, and made me feel comfortable and welcomed. My parents were initially worried about me traveling alone to another country, but after seeing how happy and safe I was with my host family, they felt much more relieved. I truly found another family far away from home. Living in Seoul was such a fun and unforgettable experience. I enjoyed exploring the city, experiencing Korean culture, and studying Korean in my free time. I loved having a balance between time with my host family and children, learning about daily life in Korea, and having time to enjoy the city at my own pace. This experience gave me so many beautiful memories and helped me grow as a person. I never felt alone because i had my family and Korea GapYear supporting throughout the process and helped me feel safe in a completely new environment. Korea GapYear made my first experience in Korea comfortable, exciting, and unforgettable. This was my family, and I already know that I will definitely come back to Korea again someday. Thank you Korea GapYear for giving me such a wonderful chapter of my life! Read More What was your funniest moment? The most unfamiliar Korean food I tried was probably Dak-ball 닭발 (chicken feet)! 😄 I know the name “chicken feet” might not sound very appealing, but it is honestly SO delicious! I highly recommend trying it, especially the boneless type. There are also different versions like rosé ! Another interesting thing is that are known to be rich in collagen, so many people say they are good for your skin. Maybe this is one of the hidden beauty secrets of Koreans? 😉

More Than Work: Finding My Place in Cape Town

Program: Business Internships in Cape Town
My experience in Cape Town has been one of the most rewarding and memorable parts of my university journey. Coming from Zambia and studying in the UK, interning in South Africa gave me the opportunity to experience a different professional and cultural environment while still being somewhere that felt familiar in certain ways. During my internship with a business advisory organization, I gained valuable exposure to areas such as business valuations, market research, sales processes, and international expansion. I especially enjoyed mapping out the company’s sales process, as it challenged me to understand how the business operates and communicate that clearly from an outsider’s perspective. Beyond the technical skills, I learned how to adapt to a new professional culture, communicate with people from different backgrounds, and become more comfortable outside of my usual environment. Living independently also helped me become more confident, adaptable, and responsible. Through VAC, I met people from around the world, formed new friendships, and experienced so much of Cape Town, from hiking and exploring the city to jet skiing, ATV riding, and abseiling. Looking back, the greatest value of my time in Cape Town was the combination of professional development and personal growth. The experience pushed me outside my comfort zone, broadened my perspective on international work, and gave me a clearer understanding of the kind of professional environment I want to build my career in. I’m leaving Cape Town with new skills, new connections, incredible memories, and a much broader perspective on both work and life.
