My Finance Internship Experience
August 17, 2026by: Hannah Weber - SwitzerlandProgram: Paid Internships in China: Finance, Investment & Banking
As a finance graduate from Zurich, I wanted hands-on experience in global markets. GAC placed me with an investment firm in Shanghai's financial district. I worked on real client portfolios, helped with market research, and sat in on strategy meetings. My mentor taught me how Chinese financial systems work — completely different from Europe. The team handled my visa, found me a great apartment near the office, and organized weekend trips. Three months later, I landed a job in international banking. Worth every franc.

16 year old has best time in Beijing
August 14, 2026by: Nora Olsen - NorwayMy 16-year-old daughter spent 4 weeks in Beijing with GAC's summer camp. She was nervous at first, but her homestay family made her feel at home immediately. She learned real Mandarin and made friends from all over the world. The weekend trips to the Great Wall and Summer Palace were unforgettable. She came back more confident and independent. Already planning to go back next year. Thank you GAC!

Ni Hao
August 12, 2026by: Clara Van Buren - BelgiumI studied Mandarin at Peking University for 4 months through GAC. I arrived knowing only "ni hao." My homestay family was amazing – they only spoke Chinese, so I had to practice every single day. My teacher was patient and made classes fun. By month three, I could order food, take the subway, and have real conversations with locals. The GAC team organized weekend trips to the Summer Palace and the Great Wall. I came back to Belgium with confidence and a second family in Beijing. Highly recommend.

I will do it again
August 10, 2026by: Mads Andersen - DenmarkProgram: GAC Gap Year Learn Chinese & Internship in China Program
After finishing school in Denmark, I wanted something meaningful before university. GAC's gap year program in Beijing was perfect. I interned at a consulting firm in the mornings and studied Mandarin at BLCU in the afternoons. The team arranged everything – my internship, classes, shared apartment, and even weekend trips to the Great Wall and Xi'an. I came back with real work experience, improved Chinese, and a clear direction for my future. Best decision I ever made. If I get to do it again, I will certainly go with GAC's program.

As an engineering graduate from Milan, I wanted hands-on experience in manufacturing. GAC placed me with a tech company in Shenzhen where I worked on real production projects. My colleagues were incredibly supportive, and my mentor taught me how Chinese factories operate at scale. The team handled my visa, found me a modern apartment, and checked in regularly. Three months later, I returned to Italy with practical skills and a job offer. Highly recommend for any engineering student. I came back knowing what would be next step in my career.

July 29, 2026by: Sofia Petros - GreeceMy 15-year-old daughter spent 5 weeks in Shanghai with GAC's high school program. I was nervous at first, but the team kept us updated regularly. 6 weeks at Fudan University
July 23, 2026by: Hanna Wu - CanadaI spent 6 weeks studying Mandarin at Fudan University in Shanghai. My homestay family was wonderful — they took me to local markets and taught me to cook Shanghai-style dishes. My teacher focused on practical conversation, not just textbook grammar. By the end, I could comfortably order food, take taxis, and even bargain at the fabric market. The GAC coordinators organized visits to the Bund, Yu Garden, and a day trip to Hangzhou. This experience gave me confidence and a love for Chinese culture. Highly recommend.

Just like any other young person out there just out of university, the next step before actual formal employment is to take part in an internship to improve your job prospects and gain knowledge. I found myself with a particular interest in China and started researching what options were available, but ultimately the end result was to improve myself so that I could get the experience and move on further to some even better employment. Besides, I also needed a really fresh experience from the jobs that I have done back in Australia.

I started learning Chinese back when I was a junior in high school and actually went to China to do a language study abroad language program, which was affiliated with my high school back in the U.S. From then, my trip to China really sparked my interest for an international future working career. So, last year I decided that I would go to China again and gain some much needed work experience, and an insight into China, given the fact that it is part of my university major. I applied for an international program as really a continuation from what I had already experienced during the time when I was in high school and first traveled to China.
