AIFS Abroad

Had an incredible time. Didn't know what to expect since this program was new to me, but I absolutely loved it and would totally recommend it to anyone looking to study abroad. Met amazing people and made friendships even though I knew no one going into this. Would 100% go through this program again.

My experience with AIFS Abroad was incredible! From start to finish, I felt supported every step of the way. Samia was absolutely amazing—she was so patient, kind, and always willing to help me navigate life in NYC. She truly made the experience unforgettable. My internship at Workville was equally fantastic, with an incredibly supportive team that helped me grow both personally and professionally. I couldn’t have asked for a better study abroad experience and would highly recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone considering studying abroad!

After being ghosted multiple times by the employer I was originally matched with, I was placed with C.R.E.T.A Rome, a ceramics studio and artist residency studio. I am a graphic design major and was tasked with designing two catalogues for the upcoming shows of one of the studio's owners, a magnificent ceramicist. I worked in person 20 hours a week and 10-15 hours remote per week and this has been a very rewarding experience. The placement was perfect and I'm very grateful.

I decided to study abroad with AIFS and it truly was the best decision of my life. The AIFS Abroad team was so incredibly helpful--jumping onto phone calls to answer every one of my many questions. I had never lived abroad before but AIFS walked me through each step. My university required that I book my flights through AIFS' travel package, which I found to be so incredibly helpful. I did not have to worry about how I was getting to the airport or what flight to get. AIFS did it for me. From making sure I knew how to use the Tube to immersing me in the culture from the first moment I got off the plane, AIFS Abroad welcomed me with open arms. I loved going to class in a different part of the city as well. Kensington is GORGEOUS and getting to experience the life of a Londoner who travels back and forth from home is an experience I'll never forget. From traveling to Europe to visiting so many museums, from seeing theatre productions to meeting new people, London opened my world up. AIFS Abroad encouraged me to try new things and to spend as much time as I could out and about in the culture of England--while also making sure I got my schoolwork done! I even met my partner while there. I kept a digital journal through Instagram of my travels called "Lost In London"(@katharinegutkoski & @ontherecord._). I truly cannot thank AIFS Abroad for everything. Going to England changed my life and I would choose AIFS Abroad again and again and again.

I recommend everyone study abroad! AIFS made the process seamless and easy. The experiences I had here exceeded my highest hopes. Greece was the perfect place for me and had many supports there. I’ll spend forever reminiscing on this incredible experience!

I am very lucky to have been a part of AIFS Spring Semester Abroad. I had a wonderful experience meeting new people, trying to food and exploring new places! Jenny and Renata are such charismatic people and they will do everything in their power to make sure you have a comfortable transition. They also are great mentors and all in all, a great time to be around. Prague was an amazing city and I really appreciated everything the program had to offer. I definitely recommend!

Everything about AIFS is organized so well! I loved all the planned trips and classes, sports, and volunteering you could do within the program. I think my favorite part about this program was the meal plan and my friends I met and became so close with. I also learned a lot about Italy and got to explore a lot of my interests in my classes. My only one issue was with the absence policy. I get that 3 absences is generous, but I didn't like how you couldn't get an excused absence with a doctor's note. Unfortunately I got sick a lot during the program because students would come to school sick as they had no other choice. This caused sickness to spread rapidly among students in the program. It was disappointing that when I was sick I couldn't rest even if I had gone to the doctor and provided a doctor's note. I feel like maybe it would even make sense to change it to 2 or 1 absence as long as students can get their absences excused with a doctor's note.

I was so worried about living abroad and my program was literally on the other side of the world. Somehow, someway, my company made me feel like I had been on the team the entire time. I was in office every day I could. The camaraderie between not just myself and my coworkers, but my boss as well. I don’t even think they were trying that hard. They are just fantastic people. Not to mention my company had regular events centered around interactions with each other. What a phenomenal group of people!

I always wanted to go back to France and truly understand the meaning of life in another country. The only time traveling to France is to visit family on my mother’s side. So being able to visit the country on my own, in a part of France I have never visited, was an eye opening experience. Living by myself encouraged me to learn how to cook many different platters that I wouldn’t normally have, and pushed me to go out and explore the city. I had great support from the AIFS and CUEF team. Miranda Rea was amazing and helped me through some difficult times. She was encouraging and supportive and without her I believe I’d have a difficult time crossing the finish line. Class was difficult yet fun. I’ve learned so many different grammar rules and learned that even though you make some mistakes, “just know everyone makes mistakes in French. Even the French!”, Professor Kristof would say that to me when I’d make a common mistake that most francophone people do. However, I did catch on pretty quickly since I’m bilingual in French and English. In all, I had a wonderful experience and would recommend this organization to whoever is looking for an exciting learning experience in a different country!

I wish I was there longer to explore more of Italy and Europe, but my program doesn't allow semesters abroad. Information regarding departure and arrival is informative, had a great apartment that was local. Fun opportunities for class trips and to be involved in with cooking classes and wine tastings. We traveled to Siena, and Milan which was an extra charge but not that expensive and a lot of fun. 2 week art class was good but long hours and busy. Very fulfilling trip.

I really enjoyed my 7 weeks abroad with AIFs. I made lifelong friends, navigated being in a medical emergency in a foreign country, and learned some amazing things about Italian history and culture. I took the Wine Marketing in Italy and Museum Art History courses. During the Wine Marketing course we went to Pollenzo which was amazing. The program did a wonderful job of creating excursions for us to participate in. All the staff are very kind and helpful.

My study abroad experience was truly amazing. I felt safe, fully immersed in the culture, and it was honestly one of the best times of my life. One of my favorite parts was how the school made me feel excited to go to class and genuinely connected to what I was learning. All the staff members were extremely kind and helpful. My favorite classes were Italian Food Studies with Mario Bracci and Wine Marketing with Dario Parenti. The content in both courses was engaging, and the professors were hands down the best I have ever experienced in my academic career. Professor Bracci exceeded expectations by giving us extensive food recommendations and taking us to various places for different food experiences, which made the class incredibly memorable. Professor Parenti also went above and beyond by taking us to different locations to try Tuscan wines and even allowing us to experience wines he helped create. His expertise clearly translated into the way he led his class and engaged with students. Overall, I had an incredible experience. The program-led trips to Venice and Rome were very well organized and a lot of fun, adding even more to an unforgettable semester.

AIFS made sure I had the best experience abroad while keeping me safe and supporting me through each step. The meal plan and housing options were unmatched as you are living in the city eating at local restaurants every day! AIFS really supported my traveling ventures on the weekends and did not restrict me from having independence with that. The trips they took us on to Rome and Venice were all included at amazing hotels and the tours through the city were priceless. Also the weekly activities they offered such as wine tours, pasta classes, picnics, and more were so amazing! The classes personally were not challenging enough but the professors really cared about our learning.

I had an incredible time studying abroad and doing an internship with AIFS in Prague during the autumn 2025 semester. The program directors are incredibly helpful and set up countless activities for students to take part in. Museums, jazz clubs, parks, city tours, and more. The internship AIFS set me up with (a media/journalism related internship) was an incredible experience, and I am still doing some freelance work for them, despite being back in the U.S. The professors and courses at Charles are interesting and engaging, but the workload is not too difficult, so you still have time to enjoy Prague. And, of course, the friendships I made will last a lifetime. Prague is truly one of the best cities in Europe. I yearn to return. Take a chance and study abroad in Prague with AIFS!

I was always on the fence of studying abroad until I started doing my research and found a program that actually interested me. As soon as I landed in Florence I knew it was the best decision I could have made for myself. The experience and friendships I made are something I will never forget. I was the only person from my state there and I thought I would be so nervous since everyone else knew each other, but it was so easy talking to everyone and making those connections.

I had a wonderful time on this trip! The opportunity to experience so many new cultures through art was great! Being in foreign countries with new people also created the perfect opportunity to create new friendships, especially since you're all in the same boat! Travel is a great way to build bonds. We also had plenty of time to explore on our own and enjoy the cities we were in!

Interning abroad in Paris was an unforgettable experience that I will never forget. The culture is filled with so much art, history, and romance. I will miss the simple things like getting a croissant on my way to work from a boulangerie, which is "bakery" in French. After work I would walk to the Canal Saint-Martin and meet up with my roommates to explore boutiques and cafes. At night, the city of Paris was so alive. Watching the Eiffel Tower sparkle on the hour once it got dark was so magical. I learned so much about international business and cultural etiquette. Paris is the perfect place to gain real-world experience while being fully immersed in yourself through a unique way of life. Paris was my dream come true!

I went abroad alone, which was very intimidating at first, considering I've never even been to Europe before! However The AIFS staff and students met me exactly where I was. I was immediately surrounded by new friends and an apartment that felt like home. This experience was the best thing I had ever done for myself. I was immersed into a entirely new culture that created the industry I want to pursue a career in. Physically exploring Italy forged a special connection between my personal experience and Italian history, that a textbook simply couldn't replicate. This semester showed my ability to explore, learn, be scared, take risks, and prove to myself that I can tackle the growing pains that come with adulting. I leave this experience with a gift too big for words!!!!!

I really enjoyed Prague. The city is amazing and has so many diverse experiences to offer. There is a vast selection of things to see including arts, good food, history, sports, nightlife, and nature. I felt that AIFS was really helpful and available with all the questions I had. I really liked the AIFS staff in Prague too (Jenny and Renata), they were both super fun to talk to and had lots of great insight to share. Prague is just genuinely one of the coolest cities I have been to. I also traveled a lot during my study abroad, and still found Prague to be my favorite or one of my favorite cities. Across all the different aspects of a city, it is just so consistent and have so much to see. I really enjoyed the AIFS group trip to Moravia as well. Some drawbacks I experienced now. There were many AIFS events to attend (which is a huge plus) but I found it pretty difficult to plan so far ahead with these and declare attendance. I understand it is difficult for AIFS to handle this issue but the restrictiveness was difficult as well because when you study abroad you are just trying to sort out your mind. It's very overwhelming to figure out the subset of things you actually want to allot your time towards, since there is just so much to do. The other thing I didn't love was how the dorms didn't provide food other than super simple breakfasts. And you don't really have any space for groceries and it seems like a waste of money to buy kitchen items (tools, spices, etc) for one semester. While it is fun to eat out and explore, it was pretty inconvenient to always have to do it. Lastly, integration w/ Charles University wasn't really there. I found that I made great friends with the other AIFS and other study abroad students staying at the dorms, but it was hard to have good experiences with local students or have a proper "campus life". Overall, I would still highly recommend Prague w/ AIFS. My study abroad semester was something I'll never forget, and I don't really have any regrets related to it.

This program was the only study abroad that was able to offer me the courses I needed to stay on track. Since ACG is an entire university, there is a full course, meal plan, beautiful campus, a large amount of students there who are not study abroad students but Greek locals, giving a true immersion experience. The quality of education at the school was challenging and impressive. It is so cool to learn about history and foundational concepts in the classroom and go visit them in a museum the next day. AIFS treated us so well from taking us out to delicious dinners, to amazing educational excursions. The staff at AIFS, Alice, was such a joy and pleasure and made sure to make herself available for any of our needs.

AIFS is simply the best. The organization was impeccable from the welcome cocktail party to the weekend trip to Florence. I felt taken care of every step of the way. All of the tours and other programming were fabulous. And the staff are just the best. They ensured I took Italian language classes that met me where I was at, figuring out how to enroll me in a whole other language school just for 3 weeks!!! My friends who were not taking language classes also had an incredible time. The balance between class and adventure / independent time was PERFECT. I made friends I still meet up with today, and enough happy memories that I have decided to go abroad again. I cannot recommend this trip enough. Do it scared, do it nervous, do it excited...it is TOTALLY worth it. You won't regret this.

I cannot emphasize the quality and experience of this program. Renata and Jenny are the best program advisors and truly were one of the most important parts of the program in my memory. I was hesitant about going abroad and looking back on that fear just makes me feel so grateful for the program's support and kindness throughout the entire semester.

it was the best thing i could have done for myself , as well as the support i had while i was there from(S a m i a 🩷), it was always a treat to see her every week and having her by my side at any time if we ever needed anything at all she made the biggest city feel so comforting knowing that we had someone like family!

Though my time in London was short, every moment felt so special. London will forever hold a piece of my heart and I can't thank AIFS enough for such a life changing experience. I am so grateful for all that I learned and experienced.

I studied abroad to learn the course content, strengthen my Spanish, and hopefully gain an understanding of another culture. I did get to learn from my courses and practice my Spanish, but I also learned so much more than I expected about the geography, environment, and culture. My program was only five weeks, but the knowledge and understanding that I gained will be with me for the rest of my life. The experiences and friendships that I gained were priceless I cannot speak highly enough of my "Mama Tica", LCI Veritas, my roommates, and most importantly, the AIFS staff that made it all possible. Ever sense I was a little girl I have always told people I wanted to be a fashion designer in Paris and I think if I would've known what the duomo was I would've said italy. Over my internship I worked with Ilaria Tollsi a fashion designer who opened her own atelier. with her I gained real life experience and got to feel what its like to work in my dream career field in a beautiful place. I dont think I would change my experience for anything. i think about florence every day.

The summer of 2025, when I studied abroad in Granada for one month, I also traveled around Europe a lot. And, I can say with complete confidence that Granada was my favorite place out of everywhere I went. AIFS had a lot to do with that. Noelia and Alberto were so kind, helpful, and accommodating. My positive experience in Granada had so much to do with them.

Studying in Berlin with AIFS at FUBest was one of the best decisions I made during my college career. The program made everything so easy, from booking my flight to providing opportunities for cultural immersion to travel opportunities. I made so many incredible memories and friends throughout the duration of the program. I loved it so much that I am planning on attending grad school in Berlin! I would recommend this program to literally anyone and everyone!

My semester in Valencia completely blew me away! The AIFS staff did such a wonderful job at welcoming us and making sure we had the best experience. This program will forever be one of my favorite things I've done ever.

If I could go back and relive last summer I would do it every year. I’ve never had an experience that I have missed as much as I constantly miss study abroad. The friendships and memories I made will literally be with me forever.

AIFS provided so many amazing experiences. We had group dinners, tours of different sites, as well as a swim cruise. It was truly an outstanding experience and I would highly recommend to anyone looking to study abroad.

I loved every minute of travelling and exploring the city of Paris, the program was really fun and I learned quite a bit. My professor was great and the locations we went to were awesome. Go abroad! It's worth it.

Living in Viña del Mar, Chile was wonderful! I got to travel throughout Latin America, learned a lot from my peers and professors, and greatly improved my Spanish. Study abroad changed my life for the better. Now I know what I want to do for a living and possible where I want to live. Chile (and Latin America in general) is a wonderful place to be if you want to experience a unique culture and meet TONS of diverse and interesting people. Not to mention the food is amazing! My host family was loving and very informative, and they made the transition to life in another country relatively smooth. Being with a family also improved my cultural awareness and language skills. I highly recommend staying with a family. AIFS made the process relatively smooth, though it was difficult to get in contact sometimes and all of the cultural excursions I choose the program for were cancelled without notice. I did get my money back, though, and used it to explore the country on my own.

I am so very grateful for my experience through AIFS. Although my internship placements were off to a rocky start, my studies abroad truly made up for it. From weekly activities, cooking classes, and local restaurants, AIFS has curated such a unique broad brush stroke into dipping your toe into long-term living in the heart of Florence. I could not be happier with my roomates and all of my friends made through the program and credit this opportunity for all of the locals and other fellow study abroad students through various programs to AIFS.

Truly one of the most amazing and transforming times of my life. I recommend this program to ANYONE looking to travel and learn more about themselves and the world. I will forever love Prague and will 100% be back soon!

I was able to intern abroad with AIFS in Prague in the summer of 2025. It was honestly one of the best experiences I have ever had. Renata and Jenny were our on the ground contacts and they were the best support system. They were always there when anyone had concerns or simple questions; they organized some of the best outings that helped interns and study abroad students connect as well. Being able to do this internship abroad opened up a lot of opportunities for me and I still find myself reminiscing about my time there. Prague is a beautiful city which offers so much culture and history. Likewise, Jenny and Renata gave many suggestions for apps and navigation tools that made it easier to navigate the city. It's an experience I treasure and one I won't soon forget!

There are not enough works to express how amazing this experience was for me because I ended up meeting my best friends during my last semester of college. We all signed up for different programs through AIFS, but since we lived in the same building, we were able to bond and dive deeper into the beauties of Barcelona together. We were able to travel to different countries and do fun excursions through AIFS like visit a winery, go hiking in Montserrat, take a cooking class and visit the city's landmarks. While we had to adapt to the cultural differences, living with other AIFS students and spending time with everyone in the program was truly a home away from home. These people were my foundation. We were able to be vulnerable with one another and discover not just a whole new culture together but learn things about ourselves that we never realized before. I will always remember when my friends and I wrote letters to one another to read on the flight home from Barcelona and I do not think I will ever cry as hard as I did than when I read those letters. We have gone from being just steps away from each other in our student residence to being separated by thousands of miles. Barcelona will always be our special place, and I am so thankful to AIFS for introducing me to my best friends.

My time with AIFS in Valencia was exactly what an adventure abroad should be! The other students I met were welcoming and eager to immerse in the culture, and the activities provided by the program were perfect in helping us do exactly that. I learned a lot and was well-provided for while there. Not to mention, Janan is the best coordinator ever. You won't regret choosing AIFS!

My j-term abroad was a life changing event. From the start, AIFS made things very clear, which was helpful for me as a planner. Getting to Paris, and then to the place I was staying, was incredibly easy and worry-free with AIFS booking the flights and the rides. Without having to worry about those thing, I got to spend more time studying up on the language and culture of Paris for my stay. Once I got there, I knew I would remember it forever. My professor was an absolute pleasure to learn from, knowing the ins and outs of the city and teaching us things beyond the course material, allowing us to grow as people as well as scholars. The free time available to us made it possible for everyone to explore what they they wished to. The gatherings hosted by the AIFS staff were very fun, and a nice way to connect with people who knew exactly what a study abroad trip entailed. I met my best friend on this trip, and we still talk every day a year and a half later! Between the course, the city, the guidance from AIFS, and the truly kind people in Paris, I had the best time. I 100% suggest everyone study abroad while they have the chance. It is a lot easier and realistic than you would think!

I fell in love with Valencia and the people there. My host family was spectacular and showed me the city and how to cook traditional foods from Valencia. The program was great and the trips that we went on as a group were so cool to see more towns and learn more about the culture.

I enjoyed every part of studying abroad in Seoul. AIFS made this experience special by having various group activities related to Korean culture. Thanks to the AIFS staff! I will always remember this time.

This program was amazing and exceeded my expectations. The staff were so friendly and welcoming. The weekend trips and activities were so well-planned and fun. Housing was some of the best I’ve seen compared to other programs my friends were apart of.

The housing was awful— our apartment came extremely dirty and there were constant issues with the plumbing. The shower didn’t drain and they refused to fix it or call a plumber. The activities were lacking; administrators and trip leaders were bad at overseeing and administering group excursions and were very insensitive when it came to Holocaust history in Berlin. The housing was so unpleasant — just so dirty and poorly maintained. I would not recommend this program.

I had an issue with placement. The “excellent” work opportunity was average at best. My host internship mentor was not even French and did not like for us to take lunch breaks. When I voiced my concerns, I was talked down to told I was only having differences because I was a young American and not used to the culture. Save your money and do not pay 10,000 dollars to do something you could do in America. If spending the money, I would advise for someone to take a study abroad course that is necessary for your major.

Over the summer of 2025, I studied abroad in Florence for 4 weeks. It was truly a life-changing experience. I was blessed to have my parents visit for a few days, as well as my Fiancè. I shared an apartment with 8 other girls, all of which I got along with. I made a lifelong friend and saw beautiful sights. It was truly unforgettable.

Its was such an amazing experience in one of the most beautiful places on earth. The people I met, things I learned, and food I tried was all truly unforgettable. Id go back in a heartbeat and suggest this experience to anyone considering it.

I truly had the best experience. Had random roommates where 2 of them became my lifelong best friends! I met so many amazing people & had so many cool travel experiences! Met people who lived in these countries and changed as a person. I truly grew and made my life better.

Choosing to spend a semester abroad was one of the best decisions of my life! It can seem daunting and scary sometimes, but it's so worth it! AIFS is unique in that it incorporates travel opportunities and excursions during the semester, which truly immerses you in the culture and helps you to feel more comfortable with traveling abroad. I really enjoyed my French language course, and my French skills increased exponentially. I felt like I was able to easily balance my classes and exploring, and my roommates and I traveled almost every weekend. Cannes is a fantastic location because of its stunning views and proximity to the airport. Our program director was incredibly helpful, knowledgable about the area, and always prioritized us having a positive abroad experience. I made lifelong friends and met so many people from across the globe. I learned so much about myself and different cultures, and my outlook on life changed for the better. If you have the opportunity to study abroad, 100% do it!

I enjoyed this program. I opted in to buying the flight through the program. I felt the instructions and process was easy. I enjoyed my living situation- it was almost an air bnb with four girls and two full bathrooms and a toilet in the laundry room. It was a longer walk to school than some and to get to the center of Florence but it was a nice living experience. I felt the class sometimes were almost too long. I took 5 class and on Mondays and Tuesday I was in class from 9 to almost 5. I did enjoy the class and some of the class offerings were interesting and you wouldn’t get that anywhere else. Overall it was a great experience, I felt the school was great at taking students to places like Venice and Rome and some classes had field trips. Very enjoyable experience

Grew up on food stamps, never thought I'd actually leave the U.S. and see someone else's world. It was amazing! Loved my classes and internship, especially Race, Diversity and Difference, hearing first hand accounts from those that have experienced racism, colorism, systemic issues was interesting, I've only learned of those problems from someone that can't experience it and they speak on it from a historical pov. Housing was fine, it was my first time living with people that wasn't family. The biggest issue is the fact that washing and drying costs $5 dollars each! I started hand washing as I'd rather that money go towards food. Expensive country but I wouldn't trade it for the world. But the apartment is buggin out for making us pay to wash our clothes, rent per week is crazy high. The program itself, was amazing, the activities were fun and any staff I interacted with were extremely helpful. Especially Andrea, any questions would be answered, she'd even ask questions to see how we were doing, I went to Byron Bay because of her. I think of Byron Bay everyday. I preferred to be alone, but I do wish I had asked to hang out with people from classes, not upset about not doing it but wishing I had. Hang out with people, get on the train and explore a new area, walk the beaches until the sun sets. Make memories, try new foods, be open to new things. Going abroad was a trial to see if I wanted to do more, might go to Italy Japan in the future. I do know that I want to do my masters, but now I'm unsure of where to go, Sweden or back to Sydney? I'll figure it when the time comes. Thank you AIFSAbroad.

AIFS truly made my experience abroad amazing! This was largely due to my on-site program director, Elaine. Through our program-wide weekly meetings and our excursions around Ireland, she made my experience infinitely better. I was able to get to different areas of the country that I likely would not have made it to otherwise. She was also able to give me advice about the other countries I was traveling to. It was also amazing to be able to live with other members of my program. This situation made it possible for us to become very close. Thank you Elaine and AIFS!

Study abraod changed my life for the better and I couldn't be more grateful for AIFS and the ability to go to Greece. I made some of my very best friends abroad and miss being there every day. Living situation was awesome, my roommates were great and I got to meet so many new, amazing people from all over. Study abroad gave me the wings I needed to fly.

While I have had the opportunity to study abroad in multiple countries, through multiple different programs, AIFS Salzburg is by far the best program/experience I have ever had the pleasure of being apart of. From on site personnel, to the immersive experiences, AIFS Salzburg has not only provided me with the best abroad experience, but given me the tools and resources to continue to grow and navigate the globe. I am forever grateful for having had the opportunity and privilege to be apart of such an amazing and inspiring experience.

AIFS Florence is genuinely one of the best study abroad programs in Florence. I was able to live in an apartment in the heart of the city, the food program was AMAZING and all the activities included the program was such a great perk. We got to eat at local restaurants and cafes everyday and go on field trips in the city daily. I was able to meet friends from all over the country I'm still best friends with and travel with them on weekends since there is no classes Fridays. The AIFS staff is so friendly and welcoming. They helped contact our landlord when our AC broke and had it fixed day of. Overall best summer of my life!

AIFS CR, helped me des over parts of myself I never would have imagined. Creating life long connections, memories that I’ll never be able to put into words, and a sense of belonging that I will carry with me. The team at AIFS CR made my experience that much better. If you’re in between programs or looking for some change I highly, highly recommend AIFS CR!

Everything about my trip with AIFS was perfect! I loved my city, my program leader, my friends, and apartment. The immersion activities were well-planned and helped us learn more about the culture of our city and country as well as familiarize ourselves early on with our new home. They also introduced me to my study abroad classmates who have become some of my absolute best friends and have already traveled to see multiple times in the past year! My friends were all jealous that I had these experiences because it made me feel at home right away. The classes offered were all very interesting and taught by teachers who were welcoming and excited to meet us. Everything about my experience was incredible, and I left feeling homesick for my study abroad community

I chose to go abroad with AIFS Abroad because they had a specific program that I really wanted to do. This was the Cannes Extended Spring Semester Study Abroad & Internship program. While abroad, I had great support from AIFS Abroad staff, in particular my program director, Aude Romens, who made herself available to help myself and other students with whatever we needed help with. She worked hands-on with us to guide us through program excursions to local cities (and countries) such as Nice, Monaco, and Grasse, as well as taking us on longer trips to Paris and Florence, Italy. For housing, I had my own room and had the best view ever, overlooking the Mediterranean Sea. I had the opportunity to have cool experiences in my classes, such as creating a short film for my film class and putting on a play, all in French! I made some of the greatest friends abroad, who I still talk to today. My program consisted of about 25 people, so the group became a very tight-knit group of people, which was great as we did all the activities and excursions together. This experience allowed me to grow my French language skills and also allowed me to participate in an internship during the Cannes Film Festival. I’d recommend AIFS Abroad to students who really want to make the most out of their experience abroad. They provide you with all the resources you need to not only survive but thrive abroad.

Truly I could not tell you what I would have changed about my experience with AIFS. The travel package was so nice, I can book a plane ticket easy peasy, but I was concerned about landing and trying to figure out the tube. They made it so I didn't have to worry about a thing. The accommodations were so nice, and well located. The first day they showed us the route to get from our accommodations to our classroom which I really appreciated. The staff were all so kind, helpful, and accommodating. The experiences they booked for us were so fun and a good balance of catered experiences and free time for you (and friends) to explore London on your own. The professor was amazing! He was incredibly knowledgeable and kind. I truly would not change a thing about my experience and I cannot recommend it enough! For this particular program, they took us to West End musicals, Oxford, Top Secret Comedy Club and out to a few dinners! During class we would walk around London to immerse ourselves in the city, we explored Kensington, the East End, Bond Street, Westminster, Big Ben, the Churchill War Rooms and more!

I decided to go abroad with AIFS because they made the idea of interning internationally feel possible and supported. I participated in the Spring Internship Program in Barcelona, Spain, and it ended up being one of the best experiences of my life. Being able to live abroad while gaining real work experience was something I’ll always be grateful for. The AIFS staff were incredible before, during, and even after the program. The Barcelona office was always there for us, whether we needed help or just reassurance, and the included cultural activities and trips were such a bonus. When I decided I wanted to go abroad, I was nervous about a lot of things. First off, I was scared that when I went abroad I would have to settle for a location I did not want to be in because I needed my credits to transfer over. Luckily AIFS had a program in a wonderful city with a bunch of classes that would transfer back to my home university super well. When I chose this program, I was overjoyed but nervous about living in a homestay. When I got there I was happily surprised to find that my host family was amazing and provided me with an experience I would not have been able to have if I had been in a dorm/apt. The people that I met in the program were some of the coolest people I have ever known and am happy to call them my friends to this day. If you are looking for a great program in Paris where you have the freedom to meet new people, travel, and find yourself in a new place, I would 100% recommend this to you!

I had an amazing experience studying abroad at the University of Limerick through AIFS. As a math major this was one of few programs that offered classes I needed for my degree. Taking classes alongside Irish students and other international students was a great way to make new friends. Also my classes gave me a view into similarities and difference between Irish and American culture in education and beyond.

I studied abroad in Salzburg, Austria this past summer 2025. In comparison to many other program providers, AIFS has a ton of amazing choices for shorter length programs like summer and January term. Summer term was a great option for me because my major requires several important classes during the term on campus. From before departure through my time in Salzburg our program coordinators and instructors were amazing! They were so helpful, easy to work with, and excited to help us build connections and experience Salzburg. My program offered dorm-style housing which was a great way to meet people in program as well as other international students. The Salzburg program had a ton of awesome excursions scheduled for us which ranged from a baking class to taking a weekend trip to Vienna! I improved my language skills by getting involved in a German speaking community, gained more confidence solo traveling, and developed my communication skills by building relationships with some great friends I made and some members of the Salzburg community. I would recommend this program to any students who are looking for a program that has a good balance of structure and free time. I would also recommend this specific program to students in humanities majors. I'm a History Major with a Minor in Art History so I especially enjoyed the Austrian Folk Art and Folk Customs class where we got to visit a bunch of amazing museums!

One of the most fulfilling experiences I have ever had. The placement was immaculate, and the excursions were wonderful. I thought AIFS staff did a great job of planning events while balancing letting students have their own time independently. The staff were all super kind.

I studied in Florence, Italy during Fall 2024. I chose AIFS Abroad for a number of reasons. Having face to face interactions with AIFS staff during the application process made the steps to getting abroad much more manageable. Having the opportunity to take courses that not only worked toward my graduation goals, but also sparked interest in new areas was a huge asset to my time abroad. Through my courses, and connections at AIFS, I was able to build lifelong connections, friendships, and met with professionals who are continuing to help me achieve my goals. Beyond the academics, the accommodations and opportunities presented through AIFS positively contributed to my time abroad. Living around the corner from the Duomo, and crossing the Ponte Vecchio everyday to get to class was a unique cultural experience. AIFS provided field trips to better immerse students in Florentine culture, and excursions outside of Florence to see beyond common tourist attractions. As a student through AIFS, we had a meal plan to use at local restaurants, access to cooking classes, museum tours, and many other opportunities at our finger tips to embrace our time abroad. Moving across the world can be daunting, however, the friendships and connections I built through AIFS are ones I will cherish for the rest of my life. Those who share abroad experiences together with have a unique type of bond. I had the opportunity to live with five other girls who were also studying through AIFS. I never could have imagined the experienced we had together. But, now I cannot imagine living a life without them by my side. I truly feel indebted to AIFS for introducing me to my lifelong best friends. The AIFS community is one-of-a-kind and one that I knew undoubtedly would support me through my time abroad, and continues to show up for me even a year after! Thinking back to who I was a year ago when I was leaving the US to go abroad, compared to who I am now, is inspiring. I had no clue how much I would grow as an individual. I became more confident, outspoken, independent, and driven than I could have ever imagined. The experiences I had abroad shaped me into the person I am today. I went abroad with AIFS in fall 2024 at Université Grenoble Alpes, and I was very attracted by the immersion and language-learning aspect that AIFS and the UGA program provided. I was placed in a wonderful homestay (with pets!), and I knew I could count on either my host or the AIFS resident director if I needed anything at all, from homework help to personal matters like homesickness. AIFS supported me--and my parents--during the entire registration and departure process. There were a lot of nerves going into the semester, but I was put at ease by how welcoming and helpful my host and resident director were, as well as the new friends I made at UGA. The AIFS resident director helped familiarize me with the city, and I got to experience so many aspects of French culture from cuisine to history to art while exploring Grenoble during the semester. My classes taught me a lot about French culture as well, including social and linguistic customs that you I never learned from a textbook. My French skills increased exponentially from the beginning of the semester to the end thanks to the immersive courses in UGA's CUEF program. Being abroad not only showed me how adaptable and confident I could become in my independence, but I also got to make friends from opposite ends of the world that I still stay in touch with today. I would recommend AIFS Abroad to any student looking to be challenged academically, is adventurous, and wants to go out of their comfort zone to explore the world and the culture and friendships it has to offer.

I chose to go abroad to Rome because it was my dream to experience the food, architecture, history, and culture up close. I chose to go abroad with AIFS because it offered the perfect timeline (J-term), it partnered with my home university, and it had the best combination of included housing, trips, food vouchers, and a super cool admin staff. I went to the Colosseum, Roman Forum, several wine tasting classes, and a cooking class through the program! I also went to Florence and Assisi. I chose to use the transportation package so I had an assigned travel buddy to go to the airport with me so I was never alone and I had transportation from the airport to the hotel where we met up with AIFS. My class on Italian Culture was super informative and I used the concepts I learned about Slow Food while abroad by finding high quality & fresh dining experiences (aka the BEST gelato ever). I had the benefit of going into the program with friends but I made great friends with my apartment-mates and the other girls from my school in my class. We'd gone to school together for years and somehow never crossed paths. I never would have imagined being confident enough to connect with strangers before studying abroad. I'm more sure of myself and I know that I can handle being in the real world by myself. I'd really recommend AIFS for anyone who wants to learn while abroad, but still focus on having the best, most authentic, and transformative experience ever.

I chose AIFS Abroad because of the wide variety of activities and experiences offered within the program. Studying abroad in Berlin through AIFS was a very smooth and accessible process. The online application portal was easy to navigate, and the enrollment team was consistently responsive and supportive. My enrollment manager was always available by phone or email and replied quickly to any questions I had. They also had personal experience living in Berlin and familiarity with the program’s housing, which made our conversations especially helpful and tailored to my situation. During my time in Berlin, our on-site program manager was exceptionally welcoming, engaging, and enthusiastic. My housing experience was excellent. I stayed in an AIFS-owned apartment in the heart of Charlottenburg, a vibrant and central neighborhood in Berlin. From my balcony on the 7th floor, I had an incredible view, and the location was surrounded by shops, restaurants, and cafes. AIFS also organized several group excursions in and around Berlin, providing deeper insight into the city’s rich history and cultural diversity. The included public transportation pass for the entire semester made exploring the city convenient and affordable. One of the most rewarding aspects of the program was the friendships I made. I met many of my closest friends during the first few days of AIFS activities, and we spent much of our time exploring Berlin and traveling together. We still keep in touch, and I’ve even had the chance to visit some of them at their home universities. It was inspiring to see how each of us experienced Berlin differently, blending our interests and passions to create a truly unique and memorable time abroad. Living in Berlin also allowed me to grow personally and academically. I joined local pickup soccer games, engaged in the city’s art and museum scene, improved my German language skills, and gained a deeper appreciation for international culture. I would highly recommend AIFS to anyone interested in stepping outside their comfort zone, immersing themselves in a new environment, and discovering more about themselves while exploring the world.

I studied abroad last spring with AIFS in Valencia, Spain. My friend encouraged me to go with her to Spain, and I absolutely loved it. The city, the food, the people, and my program director and assistant Janan and Ana made it an amazing experience. I was so lucky to have them lead our group. I made lifelong friends through this program and future travel buddies. I was so afraid I would be missing out on the college experience being away from my friends in Pullman. But then I realized that I would have missed out on so much more if I had not gone. If you are on the fence about studying abroad, look into AIFS programs and you will be in good hands.

From the people I met, to the places I visited, I had a beautiful time and feel I gained insight into how big the world is. This was my first time traveling without my family, and though I was not worried to travel, I could not have expected to feel at home thousands of miles from Philadelphia (my home). The AIFS staff was more than helpful and always looking to engage interns in immersive experiences. It was worth it 10x over.

My internship in Rome was not only a goal of mine achieved, but it also exceeded all expectations. I genuinely wish I could do it all over again, but without changing anything—maybe just eat more gelato. AIFS guided me to a company that published a travel magazine, something I've always wanted to do. On the first day meeting my boss, I knew I was in the right place. The best part was that I only had to prepare a resume, a cover letter, and complete an interview. The internship was guaranteed, so I didn't have the stress of applying and interviewing at ten different places. I am extremely grateful to AIFS and my time in Rome. The program staff was accommodating and made life less stressful than, let’s face it, it should have been. I would recommend anyone look into AIFS, as it will change your life.

I studied abroad in Madrid, Spain with AIFS in Spring 2024, and it was an amazing experience. The staff were supportive from the very beginning (before applying), always responsive and quick to help. When my roommates and I had an apartment issue, it was solved right away, and our director constantly checked in on us. Even months later, when I reached out to one of my directors, she remembered me, which shows how genuine the connections with staff really are. Some of my favorite moments were the cooking class, where we made paella and tortilla de patatas, and the friendships I built; I still talk to the people I met abroad every day. This program also helped me grow personally, especially in communication and problem-solving. When I was deciding where to study abroad, I knew right away I wanted to be in Spain. At first I thought about Madrid since it’s so well-known and beautiful, but I realized it wasn’t exactly the kind of environment I was looking for. I wanted to be somewhere coastal, a little smaller, and more relaxed. That’s when I learned about Valencia, and it honestly felt like the perfect fit. Valencia has such a welcoming atmosphere. It’s very community oriented, safe, and easy to get around. There are always festivities and activities happening, which makes it a really lively place without the overwhelming pace of a huge city. Studying at the Catholic University of Valencia was also a great experience the courses transferred back home smoothly, and the professors were very supportive. Another bonus is how well connected Valencia is. You can easily take the train to other Spanish cities or fly to different countries in Europe, which made traveling simple and affordable. Overall, my time in Valencia was so wonderful. I’d really recommend it if you’re looking for a study abroad experience that has culture, things to do, and the ocean close by, but with a more laid-back vibe!

I worked at an art workshop non-profit called For Everyone as a marketing intern, where I researched and implemented key performance indicators to measure the company's success. I spent 2 months living in a new environment, speaking a different language, and bearing real work responsibilities. It filled me with motivation, inspiration, anxiety (the good kind!), and hope for my future. I explored a lot more of the city than I was expecting thanks to the outings offered by the program, which I highly encourage future attendees to take part in. Spending time with and getting to know fellow interns, new coworkers, and strangers made me feel very welcome there. Don't be afraid to talk to new people! Expect a lot of work and a lot of free time (use it wisely though, my biggest regret is spending as much time as I did watching TV). I loved my time spent in Berlin and it made me realize that I want to go back and live there again permanently in the future. Also, the people working behind the scenes want nothing but the best for you, and they'll work hard to make your time the best it can be. I hope this program will be as fulfilling for you as it was for me!

My internship was with a restaurant/bar business called Orangerie in Neukölln. There I did data analysis for the company's finances. The internship itself was everything I could have hoped for; my coworkers were so friendly and inviting, and the work itself aligned exactly with my interests and strengths. The location was also absolutely beautiful and convenient to transport to from my apartment. If I get a chance to go to Berlin again, I will absolutely visit my friends at the Orangerie. Otherwise, I met many other people through my various hobbies I continued in Berlin (bouldering and running) as well as through the city's night life. I learned tons about Berlin culture, European culture, and about myself as I gained a broader perspective on my place in the world.

My internship experience was super specific to me and my career goals. Prior to my internship, the AIFS team asked me questions and specifics about my educational and travel goals! The specificity in work and activities I wanted to do made this experience so special to me! Not only boosting my resume but making life-long friends and being able to travel back to Paris, knowing it like my hometown! I grew so much through this program- finding my independent and outgoing side. I tried so many new things, like escargot (which was delicious and is now a favorite of mine) and jazz clubs! What made the experience super unique compared to other programs, it had planned vacations and day trips, along with cultural activities. I was able to have a true vacation planned out for me and already paid for when I got there. I was able to see things like Monet's garden and chateaux without the stress of planning travel and budgeting. While there were many planned activities on weekends, during the week, I got to do whatever I wanted, like a true Parisian. My day would start with a slow morning, some coffee from my favorite local cafe, and a short walk to my internship. I would work until about 3-4 pm, and then choose what to explore that day- Notre Dame, the Louvre. I had lots of freedom in deciding to see and do what I wanted to, but also enjoyed the planned trips, going to places I had never heard of, like Saint-Malo! I would recommend this for anyone willing to try new things and who wants to really integrate into the culture and life of France!

I never imagined that studying abroad could feel so personal, but joining a faculty-led AIFS program gave me the perfect balance of adventure and familiarity. I spent my Spring 2025 at Sogang University in Seoul, South Korea, and the experience was everything I hoped for including personalized learning, a small and open-minded cohort, and a city that constantly amazed me. The AIFS staff were incredible. My directors were always available, whether I needed help navigating cultural differences or just someone to talk to. My dorm was a peaceful retreat: a single room with a kitchenette and private bathroom, ideal for winding down after very full days. Excursions like Namsan Tower and our trip to Busan weren’t just scenic, they were the moments that bonded my cohort as a group. I left Korea with lifelong friendships and a deeper understanding of myself. I gained confidence, independence, and a renewed passion for learning thanks to two professors who truly inspired me. My advice? Study abroad your way. FOMO is real, but don’t burn yourself out trying to do everything. You made it there and that’s already something to be proud of. The experience of studying and interning in Cannes, France was life changing. The city of Cannes is beautiful, and Campus International de Cannes is less than a five-minute walk from the beach. On campus, there is also a terrace where students like to sit and chat, play games, and relax while looking at the view of the Mediterranean Sea. Apart from the views, the school's professors helped me improve all across the board. My grammatical and oral skills majorly improved. I now feel a lot more confident speaking to native speakers and having conversations about all sorts of topics. The immersion with the people in the city also helped with my progression. I would use concepts we learned in class with the everyday people I interacted with in the city, which was very helpful. Moreover, on campus we had our program coordinator who was a great support for anything we needed or for general advice about living in France. We went on excursions with her, which took us to every region of France, and allowed us to see parts of the country which are less explored by tourists. Just a couple of the places we visited include Avignon, The Verdon Gorge, and Moustiers-Sainte-Marie, all of which were amazing experiences. Additionally, I was able to intern at the Cannes Film Festival Immersive Competition. Here, I was able to work with French natives in guiding the festival attendees through VR experiences and network with a wide variety of film professionals. Cannes lights up during the festival; it is extremely cool to see the range of people it attracts to promote and appreciate the art of film. If you are looking to be immersed in the French culture and take part in the experience that is the Cannes Film Festival, this program would be great for you!

I chose AIFS because of their unique program that allowed me to take Business classes at a university in a large city. Because I go to a small liberal arts college, I was having difficulty finding courses I was actually interested in that were in cities that I knew I wanted to live in for 3 months. After searching for weeks, I stumbled across the Central European Studies in Prague at the Prague University of Economics and Business (VŠE). I found classes that fulfilled my marketing, finance, and international relations credit without needing to beg my advisors to accept them (this is basically unheard of in my business department). I had someone answering my questions before applying, before departure, and when I got there. My program had two people that lived in Prague and they provided everything from recommendations of coffee and food (including a coffee crawl throughout Prague), buying tickets for the ballet and theater, and simply having a couch for us to crash on between classes if we needed a familiar face. I lived in a dorm in central Prague that was connected to Charles University, another partnered university. My specific dorm had 4 single rooms with a shared bathroom and kitchenette. Living in a dorm, I had access to free washers and one dryer (basically unheard of in Europe), but everyone air-dried their clothes (which I still now do in the US). Because this dorm is meant for students, they also provided clean bedding every 2 weeks. I had access to excursions with AIFS as well as Charles University where I went on day trips to Pilsen and toured the Pilsner Urquell beer factory and toured a communist camp with a seasoned tour guide. This was one of the first times I was connected with students all across the country. My university abroad attracts Czech students and students on Eramus (European students studying at different universities in Europe). While I loved most of my classes, it took me a while to get used to the style of teaching (lectures, independent study) and I didn't take part in the clubs and other things as much as I could've (but I think that is because I was really satisfied with what I was doing independently and with AIFS). Not only did I make friends from the US that I would have never met, I now have friends that are from all over the world. Because of this program, I was able to travel to places I never thought of, such as driving ATVs in Morocco to learn how to taste wine at a 30-year old family-run winery. I learned how to travel and gained confidence and excitement to continue feeding my travel bug. I’d recommend AIFS Abroad for students looking for a program that provides help and assistance without sacrificing one’s own independence and adventures.

Housing was comfortable and in a good spot, and the excursions let me see parts of Korea I might have missed if I had gone on my own. I really appreciated the cultural activities too, since they gave me a deeper understanding of the country beyond just school. On top of that, I built some amazing friendships with other students in the program, which made the experience even better. Looking back, this program helped me grow more independent and confident, and it gave me skills that I know will carry into my career and life in general. I’d definitely recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone who wants both structure and adventure while studying abroad.

I studied abroad in Salamanca, Spain with the AIFS Early Start Program in Spring 2025. I chose this program because of the affordable price, the ease of getting a visa (AIFS even sends someone to the consulate on your behalf), the variety of upper-level course options, and the early start, which let me spend a month at the university before the official program began. That extra time really helped me immerse myself in the Spanish language and culture. The staff support was excellent from start to finish. Before the program, they provided clear information about scholarships, logistics, and the overall process. During my semester, my advisor was attentive and always available to help with anything I needed. I LOVED my housing situation! I stayed with a host family, which allowed me to practice Spanish daily and experience the culture in a much deeper way. AIFS also offered numerous included activities, such as a trip to Portugal, a cooking class, and a dance class, which made the experience even more memorable. The professors were kind, supportive, and explained everything clearly, ensuring we truly understood the material. Studying abroad with AIFS helped me realize how capable and independent I am, while also allowing me to build friendships with people from all over the world. I chose AIFS Abroad because I wanted a program where I felt supported every step of the way, and that’s exactly what I got. I studied in Barcelona, Spain during the Spring semester of 2024. From the moment I applied, the staff made everything so smooth, from helping me with housing to answering all my questions before I left. Once I got there, I felt like I always had someone to turn to, whether it was my AIFS roommate, the staff, or the resources they provided me. That support made adjusting to a new country a lot less overwhelming. Living in Barcelona was incredible. I stayed in a homestay, which immersed me in the culture even more, especially since one of my goals is to become fluent in Spanish. I took classes that connected to my interests and joined excursions that helped me experience the city beyond the classroom. Some of my best memories came from just hanging out with friends I made in the program, whether it was getting lost in the Gothic Quarter, trying tapas together after class, or going on our own weekend trip outside of the country. It felt like we built our own little community abroad. This experience changed me in ways I didn’t expect. It was truly transformative. I became more confident in myself, learned how to adapt in unfamiliar situations, and started seeing new possibilities for my future. I chose AIFS because I liked the amount of guidance they offered while abroad, compared to other companies my university partnered with. I chose the Dublin, Ireland program, and felt supported by staff when debating which internship would be the best fit for me. One of my favorite experiences was the Causey Farm trip, which was planned by AIFS. It was a great way to get close to my roommates (there were eight of us total), and it was a great way to experience Irish music, dance, food, and landscape. I became very close with my roommates after that trip, and am confident that I have made some lifelong friends in them. I'd recommend AIFS to anyone who wants to live or intern abroad, but is intimidated by the idea of doing it alone.

I was in the FU best program though the AIFS office. the AIFS office was well organized and laid out expectations of behaviors that were expected of you clearly and nevertheless they were incredibly friendly. The school itself has vastly improved my understanding of German and I now feel confident writing and speaking. the second is that I was able to make memory's that I hope will not be taken form me for some time.

Studying abroad has been one of the best decisions I have made for myself, and it wouldn't have been possible without AIFS. I studied abroad in San Jose, Costa Rica, during the summer of 2025, and I attended Universidad Veritas. There, I only took one class called "Intermediate level Spanish for health professions." My reasons for studying abroad were to practice my Spanish speaking skills, immerse myself in a new culture, and learn about the rich, beautiful country. I stayed with a host mother during my stay and went on weekend excursions to Monte Verde, La Fortuna, and Sarapiqui. I was able to cultivate new friendships and relationships with the students in my program, my host family, professors, and natives. Throughout my application process, departure, and duration of the program, I had staff members such as Karla Caballo, Jade Green, and Lucy Bisselle to assist me. I’d recommend AIFS Abroad to anyone looking for self-exploration and adventure.

I really enjoyed my time with The FU best program through the AIFS office. the office provided many activities to do if you didn't have your own plans and the education at the FU best will without a doubt improve your German language skills. I interned abroad in Galway, Ireland in the summer of 2024. I chose AIFS because I enjoyed all the services they provided me with. They contacted companies to get interviews for my internship, they arranged housing, and they provided lots of advising before and during my program. Before my program, they really helped me prepare for my interviews. I learned about my top five strengths and how I use them in the workplace. I also received lots of support during my program. AIFS provided us with a location coordinator. It was so helpful to have someone to answer any questions and help in any way possible. My housing was arranged by AIFS, which really took a lot of stress off my shoulders. I had my own room and bathroom and shared a kitchen/living area with two of the other interns in my program. AIFS also provided me with a few excursions. We had welcome and exit events, a trip to Inishmore, an Irish dance class, a trip to Connemara, and a chance to watch professional Irish dancers. In my program, there were about 20 interns. Having other interns provided me with a great community. We explored the city together, traveled together, and created great friendships. I absolutely loved my program!

To preface, I did not attend UPF, but I did attend UAB during the Spring semester. I decided to go with AIFS because of how well their program was organized and the level of support they offer to students. During my time studying abroad in Barcelona, the staff were incredibly supportive and always available to help with anything we needed. The program did a great job of fully immersing us in the local culture, which made the experience even more meaningful. I chose to stay in an apartment, and it exceeded my expectations. It was not only comfortable but also conveniently located near my school and lots of places to explore around the city. Through this program, I was able to connect with people I never would have met otherwise, and I’m genuinely grateful for everything AIFS made possible. My experience with AIFS Abroad during my internship in New York City was nothing short of incredible. My internship with AIFS was a dream come true. I had the privilege to work with Wing and Weft, an independent glove shop in the Garment District. It has been my dream to work in Times Square since I was a kid, so I was thrilled to be able to walk through the chaotic streets every day! I was able to strengthen my artistic, professional and social skills, along with being my authentic self each and every day.

I really enjoyed working at The Actors Theatre Workshop. I became really good friends with the other interns and we often hung out outside of work. However, what put a damper on my experience were my managers, they were often condescending towards myself and the other interns when giving instructions, and got mad at myself and the other interns for socializing. I really enjoyed my time with them and got amazing experience that I will value forever. They are a good company.

I 100% recommend the NYC summer internship program if you are looking to gain initial professional experience and meet new people from all over! I absolutely loved my internship placement at Towers & Associates P.C. The environment was welcoming, professional, and at times challenging (but in a great way to learn). My roomate and I I loved all the activities that were planned to immerse us into the city. And every weekend we had time to explore the things we wanted to on our own. I can’t recommend this enough if you want to gain confidence in both your future career and in building relationships with those around you. I have found a future home for myself in NYC. I will surely be returning, and when I do I will use all the connections I made with AIFS to expand upon my opportunities!

I had a great time in Sydney!! Our advisor, Andrea, made us all feel at home here and was extremely welcoming! I also felt my internship placement was a perfect fit. Throughout the program I was able to learn so much about my future career. Overall, I had a great experience in Sydney and I would recommend it to anyone who is interested!

Studying abroad in Berlin is one of the best decisions I have made. I fell in love with the city of Berlin, seeing how it changes from winter to spring, the opportunities it offers, it's combination of liveliness and peacefulness, and the amount of distinct areas you can discover and appreciate.

AIFS made my study abroad experience absolutely incredible; they were well organized and had a great team both during the application process and on site. I thought the excursions were well organized and scheduled thoughtfully to help us see and do the most, and everything ran smoothly. I loved having the office just down the street from the school, and I knew someone would be there for anything I needed. They made the entire process feel so much less stressful and I was really able to just relax and soak it all in because of how well they took care of everything. I would recommend AIFS for anyone planning to study abroad!

I really enjoyed my semester abroad in Berlin with AIFS! My German language skills improved greatly, and I was able to make amazing friends and community connections through volunteering. I would love to come back to Germany after this experience; it was incredibly hard to leave.

Going abroad through the AIFS Prague program was the best decision I have ever made! The staff was very helpful throughout the semester and any questions that needed answering were answered in a timely manner. The trips and activities that were offered were great too. The activities also helped build friendships early on with other people in the program which was very nice. I definitely recommend this program and Prague if you want the best abroad experience.

AIFS Costa Rica gave me the best study abroad experience I could ask for! The staff were super friendly and outgoing, making sure that we were taken care of and adjusting to our new environment. They offered many different excursions and activities that immersed students into the culture and community, as well as tips and tricks for navigating the country. AIFS made me feel at home in a foreign country, and I will cherish this experience for the rest of my life.

I originally had a 3-month internship from February to April, but I enjoyed it so much that I decided to extend it for another 3 months! Sydney is an incredible location—there’s so much to do here, and honestly, 3 months just isn’t enough time to take it all in. My internship has been amazing. I love the work environment I’m in, and living at Scape has made the experience even better. The housing is centrally located with easy access to everything I need. Scape also hosts fun activities for residents, which made it easy to meet other exchange students. I had so much fun attending these events—and they’re either free or super affordable! The people in Australia are incredibly kind and welcoming. I highly recommend studying or interning abroad here—it’s been one of the best experiences of my life!

I had a horrible experience with my host mom. Such a hostile environment. And then AIFS didn’t help throughout or after. I wish I would’ve avoided this program if it was going to be like this because it really did mask my overall experience.

I was able to make meaningful connections with multiple rappers, DJS, models, creatives, and comedians during my time here. I worked in the office mon-wed (varies depending on internship) so I spent the rest of the week exploring the city, hanging out with friends and taking photos of literally anything and everything.

Spending a summer interning in Lisbon with AIFS Abroad was easily one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. From start to finish, AIFS handled everything—securing my internship, setting up housing, preparing me for the experience with career readiness resources, and providing ongoing support while I was there. One of my absolute favorite parts of the program was the weekly Sunday field trips. AIFS took us on incredible excursions to Sintra’s fairytale castles, the stunning beaches of Cascais, and even a group surf trip! These weren’t just sightseeing trips—they were bonding experiences with the other interns, making every weekend an adventure. Having these built into the program meant I got to experience so much more of Portugal beyond just Lisbon, without the stress of planning everything on my own. Previously I lived in Stuttgart for 3 years, so I chose the Berlin program because I really wanted to back to Germany. This program was SO much fun, got to meet so many amazing people from all across the US and the world. Activities were always worth going to, even got to go to a hockey game for the first time!

My study abroad experience in Florence, Italy, with AIFS was nothing short of fantastic! I am immensely grateful for everything the program offered—from the incredible staff to the weekly events that ensured there was never a dull moment. The entire experience felt surreal, thanks to the extraordinary offerings of the program. The flexible meal plan was a highlight, allowing us to dine at local restaurants with friends daily after classes and partake in pasta and pizza making sessions. Engaging activities like wine tastings and dinners with local Italians enriched our understanding of their vibrant culture. I am a junior at Salisbury University, majoring in Graphic Design with a minor in Spanish, I had the incredible opportunity to complete a three month internship in Barcelona through the AIFS program. I completed the internship program in Barcelona, Spain and it was easily one of the best times of my life. My internship coordinator, Inma, went above and beyond to place me in an amazing internship with a great company. The staff overall was very helpful and supportive, and they offered many opportunities for us to explore the culture and go on excursions. I don't have a bad thing to say. Why wait?

I decided I wanted to travel abroad 2 years before actually making it happen. I knew I wanted to travel far away from the States, where I could go on walks in the city and the beach. After doing some research on many abroad programs AIFS seemed like the best option for what I was looking for. AIFS programs had lots of activities included, reasonable program prices depending on locations, and scholarship opportunities for funding. Upon acceptance to my program, the AIFS staff was great at keeping communication with me through the application process. The staff abroad was also very caring and helpful making sure all students were accommodated well and safe. My experience with AIFS in Barcelona, Spain was an unforgettable experience. Housing was great, activities were fun, the UAB campus was close in distance from my apartment, and other students from the program were also great! I chose the "flight package" for my departure option because I had never been out of the country on my own so I thought it would be better if they arranged my flight and pick-up/drop off to the airport in Barcelona to be more at ease. I am glad I did that because it saved me so much time and stress. Amy from AIFS was super sweet when I met her at my pick-up spot. If you are thinking about studying abroad with AIFS, I would definitely recommend! 10/10 experience. I was only there for six weeks in summer, but I wish my time there would've been longer.

My semester abroad in Granada, Spain was absolutely unforgettable. I decided to stay with a host family and I lived in their home with another student in the same program. Living with a roommate, we became really close friends. My host family was so kind and welcoming, they included us in everything they did. I learned so much Spanish culture and tradition from spending time with the family. The school was called Center of Modern Languages and I had a mixture of Spanish and Business classes. I loved speaking Spanish in class and getting to know other students. AIFS provided a level placement test at the beginning of the semester so that everyone found courses that were appropriate for their knowledge of Spanish. The classes were very fun and I enjoyed going to class. The AIFS program excursions were some of the best experiences/trips that I went on. I was blown away by the Morocco trip as well as the Seville/Córdoba/Gibraltar weekend. The trips were well planned, affordable, and allowed for free time to explore with friends. I made so many connections with locals, got to experience once in a lifetime activities like riding camels next to the ocean, and tried amazing foods. The program application process was hassle-free and the program advisors in Granada are so helpful. I would often visit their office and just chat with them or ask their advice on where to visit on the weekend. They organized cooking classes, art classes, sporting events, and cultural activities like a flamenco show. Granada is such a wonderful city. It is very walkable and the people are very friendly. There are endless tapas bars in the city where you get free food with each drink purchase. I made friends with lots of locals and other students from across the US. I attended exchange club meetings where you get drinks and tapas, and you chat in whatever language you are trying to learn with people from around the world. AIFS did a wonderful job providing opportunities for all of the students in the program to get to know each other. I made a close-knit group of friends and we spent so much time together. I am so thankful for having met them thanks to AIFS. We even visited each other once we arrived back in the US! I would highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to experience Spain on a more personal scale compared to bigger cities. I think Granada is the most beautiful city, and the Alhambra is a must-see!

I really enjoyed the academic rigor associated with this program. I was able to take an intensive German language course as well as a German literature course which really pushed me out of my comfort zone! Berlin is such a unique city to live and study in, and the AIFS team did a great job making sure we were making the most of our time. Nele, Julia, and Angelica always made sure to provide food, activity, and museum recommendations. The partnership with Humboldt is also a great program for students looking to improve their German skills, the professors were amazing! I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a more independent study, I enjoyed the freedom of being able to travel alone and make my own plans or attend the group events if I wanted.

Galway was such a fun time that I believed to be an enriching experience. The interns that I met on the trip were all lovely individuals and we got along great! Being able to be an intern in Galway was a new experience that I would recommend to everyone. We got to go to explore other countries as well such as France and we explored other parts of Ireland! Galway is a nice sized city and the access we had to the beach made things so fun!

My summer in Florence, Italy, was nothing short of transformative. Traveling abroad for the first time with two friends from Cornell University, I initially felt a mix of excitement and anxiety. As someone accustomed to family trips, the idea of venturing into a new country was daunting, especially since my friends had never left the U.S. Thankfully, AIFS organized every detail of our journey,accommodation, meals, and transportation, which alleviated our stress and reassured our families, allowing us to truly enjoy the adventure. Studying the museums of Florence was an eye-opening experience. I delved deep into the city's rich architecture and vibrant culture, expanding my knowledge in ways I never anticipated. The immersive environment allowed me to truly appreciate the historical significance of Florence, all while bonding with my friends over shared discoveries. What truly made this trip unforgettable, however, was the friendships I formed. While I started with just two friends, I came away with a close-knit group of more than ten. One friendship blossomed into a deep connection; I now consider this person one of my best friends, and I’m thrilled that she will be visiting me in Egypt (my home) this winter. AIFS played a crucial role in facilitating these meaningful connections and experiences. Their support made this journey not just an educational endeavor but a profound personal adventure. I am incredibly grateful for the memories created and the friendships forged during this summer. This trip has genuinely been life-changing for both me and my friends. Participating in the AIFS Abroad program was truly an ideal way to experience studying overseas. I had an excellent experience with the Summer 2024 Internship Program in San Jose, Costa Rica! I initially applied for the program because I always had a knack for international travel and I needed a Summer Internship to help me gain proper work experience for my Accounting Major, and AIFS Work Abroad helped me get the best in both worlds. My housing situation was just what I needed and allowed me an opportunity to forge bonds with fellow AIFS Interns as well as local Costa Rican students. It was located right by some supermarkets and even a shopping mall, helping us Interns fulfil our daily needs. The AIFS center also provided excellent cultural immersion excursions, allowing me and my fellow AIFS interns/students to enjoy the rich biodiversity, cuisine (like Casados and fresh fruit), and hospitality of Costa Rica. AIFS Staff even offered guidance for students that might have had trouble commuting to the workplace that had hired them as an intern, including me, who needed specific bus directions. AIFS upon receiving my resume and cover letter wasted no time trying to get me paired with a workplace looking for an Intern of my background: an Auditing Department at a local Municipality. Once they connected them with me, I conducted an interview with them and got the job. My supervisor and colleagues were very friendly, always looked out for me, and made sure my work quality was up to standard even when they had long, busy days. My supervisor gave me a project where I analyzed the greatest risks facing the Auditing Department, but I finished my deliverables so fast that I needed mini projects to apply my learning and keep me busy, which my supervisor was happy to provide. My workplace allowed a flexible work schedule to make room for AIFS Excursions (which occasionally happened on weekdays) and was conveniently located enough so that I could commute easily through bus/uber. The only slight hiccup with the entire work process is the fact that it wasn't initially clear that my workplace worked all in Spanish and had limited English (Note: this might vary for workplaces in Costa Rica) before I conducted the interview, but since I already had an Intermediate Spanish Background which contributed to my desire to apply for the Costa Rica Intern Abroad program specifically, I adjusted accordingly and became the best of friends with my colleagues. AIFS did a great job in identifying a workplace that was right for me, and my workplace did a fantastic job in ensuring I had the proper learning, working, and bonding experience. Overall, I believe that the AIFS Internship in Costa Rica is top notch and even exceeded my initial expectations. I would recommend this program to any student that needs some work experience in their field as well as a good cultural immersion experience. I would even recommend this program to students who aren't the most adventurous, because getting work experience in a different country will greatly help them gain relevant hands-on knowledge and an International Network, and the cultural activities AIFS offers may help them warm up to life Abroad. I hope my story inspires students to go down the same path, and as they say in Costa Rica, "Pura Vida!"

If I told myself a year ago, heck even 6 months ago, that I finally took the leap and traveled to South Korea-- I would think I was crazy. Going abroad seemed like a fairytale. It was so expensive, so unheard of in my family, my community. But I had decided that this would be my time, the quintessential summer to experience the world to the fullest. Since the pandemic, and even previous to it, I’ve wanted to see how other people live, what other cultures are like and the beauty of biomes divergent from the melting heat and clobbering humidity of my home. That spring semester of 2024 finally helped me determine where I wanted to go. Joining the Korean-pop club at my university showed me more of Korea than I had known before. I was a casual K-pop listener, but from witnessing the food, the historical landmarks, the cultural differences, it all seemed so unique and captivating. Getting on that plane was a long, nerve-wracking journey, but landing into a whole new continent where even the language written on the airport signs were different, was a complete culture shock. Jet lag was a tough monster to defeat, but after about a week of getting used to a new sleep routine, I had felt more energized and excited about being alive than ever. Even with the tough days, like preparing for an oral presentation in Korean language class, or traveling to a new area alone, I was still overjoyed with the idea that-- I’m literally in Korea right now! It was easy to get lonely being in a foreign country, not having any family or friends in the same time zone. But knowing other students in the AIFS program were going through the same thing, made me feel less alone. I created some amazing friendships, finding things in common with people I never would have met otherwise. Going on excursions with them to places like the famed N Seoul Tower, Everland theme park, and even taking weekend trips to Jeju Island, were moments I could never replace. In a similar note, being in the Sogang University community felt so comforting and safe. Besides being a gorgeous campus, the faculty were so accommodating and the professors were so curious and warm-hearted. I am going to greatly miss the natural atmosphere of Seoul, the expressiveness and kindness of Koreans, and seeing something new everyday that I wouldn’t be able to find in Florida. Visiting South Korea was just the push I needed to kickstart my traveling addiction; I can’t wait to go back and see what else the country has to offer.

This summer I studied abroad with AIFS in Paris and could not have asked for a better experience. First, the AIFS Abroad team in Paris is absolutely incredible with setting up activities, tours, and so much more. They even helped me get a home doctor visit when I had food poisoning for a week and were so incredibly helpful with both scheduling and reimbursements in regards to the visit. Second, my french language class was so beneficial and helped me grow my french skills significantly. I was in a class with students from all over the world and got to understand a little bit more about life in other countries, which I would not have otherwise experienced. Finally, studying abroad with AIFS made me so passionate about the global experience and taught me things I could never have imagined. I cultivated lifelong skills and learned how to better communicate with people from different backgrounds. I can not recommend AIFS more and encourage anyone interested to start the conversation and study abroad if possible!

Cassidy was awesome, smart trip was awesome and it was a great experience overall def recommend! I made the best friends and am so glad I did this experience. The summer program was super fun and the perfect amount of time!

I was able to intern abroad in Barcelona, Spain within the Tourism placement. I had an amazing time and learned so much about working abroad and being able to find new friends and learn from my work colleagues. I spent my whole summer in Spain and was able to explore different cities, beaches, and countries where I was able to grow my intercultural competence. I think this experience helped me develop and enhance my skills professionally and gave me a clearer understanding of what things I would love to do in my career.

This was an amazing program and I am infinitely grateful that I picked this program. Since I chose to participate in a May term program, I knew I would not have much time to plan my own trips within my study abroad experience, so a traveling program was perfect for me. I got to see all of the cities I have been dreaming about seeing for years. I made amazing friendships so quickly, and was exposed to many different cultures. Even though we were only in each city for a few days, I felt like I learned a good amount about each city. I got to see the most famous artwork in each city and it was fun learning how to use the public transportation in each city. We also had good guides for the tours in each city who knew a lot about the history of their cities. The program tour guide was awesome about helping us figure out public transportation, and I got a hang of how to do it myself by the time we left each city. My class's professor was amazing. She got us to really think and the class was very interactive. She was very educated on art history and the three hour class sessions went by quickly. The classes made me appreciate the museums and sites that we visited much more than I would have without the knowledge I gained. The places I wanted to see in each city were built into the program, and tickets were taken care of. I still had time during most days to work in my own activities and sightseeing, but all of the main places that I wanted to see were built in and we visited them as a full group. If I could change one thing, it would be to meet more locals or interact with business owners in the countries we visited through the program. The majority of the hotels were pretty nice; a couple of them were super nice. The only complaint I had was the location in a few of the cities, but it was very doable to get around. Breakfast was always covered which was great because we had to wake up fairly early most of the days. My group got a few surprises that were so awesome as well!

My placement perfectly aligned with my career goals and I met the best people, both at my work and in the program. Gregg planned the most fun weekend activities and took us to places I never would’ve known about or thought to go to. It was an experience I’ll never forget!

My name is Sebastian Aguilar, and I am currently a student at Texas A&M International University. In the summer of 2024, I had the incredible opportunity to study abroad in Madrid, Spain, through the Hispanic Studies Program at Universidad de Nebrija. If you’re considering studying abroad in Madrid, I highly recommend partnering with AIFS. My experience with AIFS was exceptional—they provided comprehensive support, opened doors to valuable networking and career growth opportunities, and laid the foundation for enduring professional relationships. During my time in Madrid, I was fortunate to have the support of Lucas Zugasti, the Madrid Student Services Advisor. Lucas ensured everything ran smoothly, from apartment check-ins to organizing engaging student activities, and he offered invaluable practical advice about student life in Madrid. Additionally, Barbara Franconi, the Director for Buenos Aires & Madrid, played a pivotal role in my journey by encouraging me to apply for the AIFS ambassador program. This role has been instrumental in my professional development, allowing me to expand my network, advance my career, and build lasting connections within the AIFS community. Academically, I enrolled in an International Management course taught by Professor Omar Espana Arrieta. His expertise in international business was evident through his innovative teaching methods, which included student-led projects and professional presentations. I highly recommend this course to anyone interested in deepening their understanding of the business world. The class also provided valuable networking opportunities with fellow students with similar professional goals. For those contemplating studying abroad, my advice is to take the leap and start the process. While everything may not align perfectly, the key is to begin. Whether it’s applying for scholarships, seeking grants, or exploring different program options, AIFS is there to guide you every step of the way.

AIFS did such a great job with making it an experience to remember! I met wonderful people in my placement and gained valuable insight into my field all while being in an incredible location and getting to experience the French culture in Paris! Mira was super helpful with preparing me for my internship and I had a great time on the excursions set up throughout the program. We visited grand landscapes and tasted the cheese and wines of France. All in all, I would absolutely recommend doing an internship abroad with AIFS!

I had the opportunity to study abroad in London, England Summer of 2023 for the June session. I cannot possibly recommend this program enough. I had an incredible time, not only did I have so much fun but I learned so much. With AIFS you are not just traveling to another country, you are emerging yourself in the culture. They offered so many opportunities to be a part of life there. My personal favorite example was having the opportunity to attend a Cricket match with others from my program. I had never seen anything like it in my life and it was so much fun. Not to mention the class that I took, British Life and Culture was one of my favorite classes I have ever taken because it not only taught us about the history of England but also how it shapes modern society. We learned so much about the difference in our cultures and how there are many different perspectives on life. I will also never forget the lifelong friends I made through this experience. Getting to explore this incredible city with the most incredible people who are all there to have the same experience was truly something that changed my life forever and I am so grateful.

Studying abroad in Budapest was such an incredible experience! The program size was perfect; we had 18 people which wasn't too small, but still small enough that you knew everyone in the program and we became a close knit community. It was so cool to get to meet students from all across the United States and Europe; AIFS has students at schools all over the US, and our accomodations are in an apartment building that is almost entirely student housing, which is a great way to meet people! Budapest itself was wonderful; it was such a hidden gem with lots to do, all while having great public transportation that is covered in the program fees. I loved getting to run by the Parliament at night, climb up Gellert Hill to see a panoramic view of the city, and explore different cafes all throughout Budapest. There were also so many opportunities to travel, including trips with AIFS to Vienna, Lake Balaton, and an optional excursion to Prague! The trips through AIFS were lots of fun, plus they were all planned for us so there was no stress over what we would do when we were in the cities. While the adjustment to being abroad was a bit of a challenge, it was such an opportunity for growth and coming out this program my confidence has grown so much. I would recommend this program to anyone looking for a unique study abroad experience!

My experience interning abroad in Florence was absolutely amazing! AIFS paired me with the perfect internship for my aspiring career. I had the opportunity to immerse myself in a new culture and learn in a foreign work environment. It was the best internship I could have asked for immediately following my undergraduate graduation and made me feel more prepared when returning home to start my career. It was truly an unforgettable summer!

Everything from the beginning steps of applying to landing back home 2 months later for me was as smooth and straightforward as one could ask for. All the coordinators work with you to ensure your safety. This program changed my life and opened the door for endless possibilities for the future in my profession. I was able to live another life and travel so easily, if any issues arose there was always someone I could talk to 24/7 no matter where I was. Made so many friends not only within the program but also from where I was living. I now because of this am lucky enough to say I’m returning to Florence, Italy due to a job offer I received while interning thanks to the wonderful placement from AIFS.

My study abroad experience with AIFS changed my life! The events and excursions they took us on were very well planned and also left time for us to do our own thing. The classes the college offered were thought in English and were not too difficult. The staff were reachable at all times whenever we had an emergency and they cared about us very deeply, I’ll miss this people now that I am back home.

I had a wonderful experience this summer in Barcelona, working in communications, marketing, and business relationships for my host company, Siel Bleu España. The professional and life experience I gained was invaluable and made possible by AIFS!

My internship went well, I had a great experience learning in a workplace environment in a role that suited me well. Barcelona was very exciting and had lots to do with the other students in the program.

My time in New York was amazing, I loved working with my employeers and getting to socialize with other students in the EHS building. Samia was a great host!! She always made sure we were safe and the events were really fun! I loved exploring the different cities within NY, but it is a bit costly. Other than the cost everything was pretty good!

Living in a big city like NYC was a huge change and required some adjusting, but in the end it gave me so much personal growth. It also gave me a better understanding of my wishes for my future career! I've made so many great connections through my internship and while living here in general. I seriously don’t regret a single thing about this opportunity. It may seem nerve racking or a lot of work at first but the opportunity is truly once in a lifetime. The amount of connections and skills you are able to pick up along the course of this internship is like no other I’ve ever experienced!

I don't even know where to begin! This summer has been nothing short of amazing. Prior to this experience, I have never travelled abroad, let alone solo travelled abroad. I can firmly attest that this experience has made me find myself in the best way possible. Now I'll get into more specifics. For starters, Galway is the best city you could go to, hands down. It's not crazy & chaotic like Dublin or London, but it's still so lively, beautiful, and exciting to be in. There is always something to do here. People are performing music all up and down the streets every hour of the day, which gives it a perfectly authentic vibe. There's so many cute shops & pubs to wander into. Not to mention, the people here are some of the nicest people I have ever met! I never had one bad experience with the locals. Everyone is friendly and welcoming, which really helped with me already being nervous to be abroad. Second, the Galway location advisor for AIFS, Karen, is AMAZING. She is the most caring woman ever! Anytime I had an issue (which was rare, but still), she was extremely responsive & made sure to check in on me to make sure I was doing better. One of the things I'll miss most about Galway is her. I also had the opportunity to do some traveling on the weekends! Between the day trips Karen had planned for us to Inishmore & Connemara, I also solo travelled to London and the Cliffs of Moher! Furthermore, me and some of the best friends I made in this program also took a trip to Edinburgh, Scotland & Nantes, France. This definitely added to the already incredible experience. In summary, if you're undecided on where to be abroad in AIFS, choose Galway. You will get the true Irish experience being here, meet the kindest people, eat the best food, and have the opportunity to do more traveling on weekends. Because of this summer, I truly intend to come back upon my graduation & turn Galway into my home. Best summer of my life. :)

My experience was amazing and was placed in an internship that matched my career path and skill set! The planned trips through AIFS was phenomenal with my personal highlight of a beautiful Blue Mountains hike!

Sydney, Australia was a great time, it’s the easiest to adjust to if you are coming from America. The internship was great and they try to work with you to give you work that fits your growth the best.

Being a part of the AIFS Sydney, Australia internship program has been an amazing experience! I got to meet so many new people and learn a lot about what it means to live in a different country. I initially chose Sydney due to its sights, and it definitely did not disappoint. Sydney was a very beautiful city to explore, and many of the coordinated events provided by AIFS reflected that. I also learned a lot of valuable lessons about my career path, about myself and what my future may look like with the help of this program. Overall, I would definitely recommend this program if you have any interest at all in interning in Australia.

I had a truly amazing experience from start to finish while being involved in this program and working at my internship. The living accommodation I was given was very nice and I was placed with great roommates who made the experience even better. The AIFS staff were very helpful and there for support if needed and were easy to communicate with. My internship placement exceeded my expectations and the people I worked with were amazing and I was able to build relationships and friendships with them even outside of work. Overall I am truly grateful and happy that I chose to take part in this summer abroad program and for the experiences and memories this has given me that I will never forget.

I spent the summer in Florence, Italy with AIFS working as a communications intern for a local company. The internship was a really valuable experience as I got to experience what it's like to work full-time in addition to having the opportunity to do a multitude of tasks for the company I interned with. The staff at AIFS were constantly available if we needed help or support and I am really thankful to have had this opportunity.

I got to meet so many amazing people from around the world, and connect with so many employers and people on a business level as well!! This experience allowed me to really step out of my comfort zone, and learn so much about myself, I will remember these experiences for a lifetime!

After doing most of my internship in Australia I would have to say that it has been an amazing experience as I have been able to meet new people from all different backgrounds, make new friends, do amazing activities on the weekends, and learn a lot of new things from my internship the whole time I’ve been here.

This experience has been such an incredible adventure! I feel like I am leaving more confident in my career and inspired in my personal life. AIFS did a wonderful job preparing me, and Andrea was a phenomenal program director once in Australia. Sydney itself was the best location choice for me. Since it was my first time abroad on my own, I wanted something that had a similar culture to home in the states. I never felt alienated here, but since it's so close to Asia, I got to experience plenty of cultural fusion which broadened my world view. If you're on the fence about studying or interning abroad in Sydney, I can say from experience that it did not disappoint.

I loved getting to be apart of this program! Our onsite coordinator was really helpful and also coordinated fun events for all of us where we got to see scenic Sydney views! It’s also been really great getting to know my AIFS intern group and explore Sydney. Overall I would recommend applying to the program :)

I had the best time in Florence with AIFS for the June session! Our apartment was gorgeous and in the best location for activities and food! I had such a great time exploring Italy with activities that were arranged by AIFS as well as by myself or with my roommates! I highly recommend this program!

I chose to study abroad with AIFS in Italy with their 7 week program. The staff were wonderful and the classes amazing. If there were any troubles the staff was extremely helpful and accommodating. The apartment complex I stayed in was filled with other AIFS students. There were no worries about safety and each apartment had their own charm. The program included meal vouchers which were an amazing way for us to try various restaurants and foods. The excursions were fun and if they did cost anything it was never more than £20. All were worth my time to participate in.

I lived 35-40 minutes away from my university and lived with all Charles Uni students, who had a short commute, but for the 4 of us VSE students, it was a very unpleasant experience and commute. The Charles students also arrived 3 weeks before us VSE students and they had all become friends already, not looking for 4 random business students to tag along on trips they had already planned. It was difficult to even hang out with students from my classes because they all lived near our university, and I mean all students besides us 4. If AIFS provided more suitable housing for us, I think it would have been an entirely different experience instead of feeling isolated and alone in such a massive city. Not to mention they are old school soviet barracks. I had to learn how to spend a lot of time alone, because this program forced me to. My classes were alright, the professors are very old school, not very communicative or helpful, and not like any class I have taken at my home university. The profs also switched halfway through the semester, I am unsure why but it made my class life unnecessarily more confusing and unstable. I loved Prague and would have loved it even more if the program was planned with the few VSE students in mind, we were forgotten or not cared for in a way.

My semester in Valencia was truly a dream! I was recommended this program when I said I wanted to study abroad and honestly 100/10. It was a smaller group so I was able to build friendships faster and felt heard anytime I had a question or concern. I had the time of my life and could not be more grateful for everything Janan did during my stay. I would have wished for more information about my stay sooner than a week before. It’s a little frightening moving to another continent and not knowing where I was going to stay until a week prior. However, my home was lovely and my host mom was an absolute sweetheart. Being a walking distance from the beach was personally the best part for me. This city has so much to do and the people truly do include you in their community. As a female feeling safe in this city and being able to have more freedom was truly liberating. I could not recommend this city and this program enough!!!!!!

I knew I wanted to study abroad since I was very young and choosing AIFS Valencia was the best decision I ever could have made. Pre-departure could use improvement as communication prior to arriving in Valencia was subpar, but once we landed, we were in good hands. Janan is the most amazing program director: personable, knowledgeable, helpful, caring, and hilarious. She was our Spanish mother for 4 months and ensured we were healthy, cared for, and having the greatest time possible. She prepped weekly activities every Friday that were packed with fascinating cultural activities and adventures across Valencia and more; we didn't want to miss any. Valencia has so much to offer as well; up until last week, I was finding new places I wanted to try. I lived in an apartment of 7, which sounds like a big yikes, but turned out nearly perfect. Our apartment was centrally located and allowed us to walk / Valenbisi / metro / bus for anything we could ever need. I had a good experience taking courses through UCV as well, but I had a few friends who had issues with grades, transfer credits to home institutions, language barriers with professors, and poor response times from the institution. All in all, I would not trade my experience for anything.

My semester in Valencia was truly amazing. Janan was the best program director I could have possibly gotten. She made all of us feel at home from the very beginning. I knew I could always count on here for anything that I needed and she made sure we were enjoying our stay. Something that could be improved is the pre departure communication. Emails took long to respond and there was a lack of clarity when there was questions asked. However, when I arrived to Valencia everything was perfect. I couldn’t have imagined picking a better city. It isn’t overwhelming like other cities tend to feel, yet it still offers so much. It is extremely walkable and a short bus to the beach. We never ran out of things to do. Valencia truly has so much to offer. Me and the rest of the group got along amazing and I left Valencia life long friends and memories that I will always hold so close to my heart.

I loved living and learning in Sevilla for a couple months! The program was awesome and the people were even better! Definitely going to remember my time there for the rest of my life. Adios España!!!

Wondering if you should take the leap of faith to spend a few months exploring the emerald island while gaining valuable international work experience? Take the leap of faith!! I recently completed an internship in Galway through AIFS, and it is a decision I'll never regret. My time abroad was incredibly enriching and professionally rewarding. The Galway location coordinator, Karen, made the experience even better, she was always there to help and quick to respond to any inquiries. For me, this program was a great way to gain work experience abroad while having a wonderful support system in AIFS - I am beyond glad I decided to do it. One of the highlights of my international internship experience was the friendships I formed with fellow interns and coworkers. My fellow interns and I explored the local culture together and we supported each other both professionally and personally. They became my home in Galway: the ones I came home to after a long day in the office, the ones I went grocery shopping with on a Sunday morning, watched movies with on a Friday night, and the ones who never failed to check in and ask about my day to day. The camaraderie extended into the workplace, where my coworkers were equally friendly and inclusive, creating a collaborative and enjoyable work environment. These relationships made my internship experience truly special, providing a network of friends and professional contacts that I will cherish for years to come. I highly recommend this program to anyone looking to gain international work experience while enjoying the charm and beauty of Ireland.

I had an amazing time during the AIFS internship program in London! I felt I gained valuable experience not just through my internship, but also by living in a foreign city. There are endless things to do and see in London, and the transport system makes it easy to get almost anywhere in and around the city. As part of the AIFS program, we also had organized events such as day trips, nice dinners, and musicals just to name a few. We had access to tons of resources and I always felt cared for/supported by the London AIFS staff. I would highly recommend this program to anyone who wants to live and work abroad!

Budapest is an incredible city for studying abroad! A lot of people questioned why I would pick Budapest over the other common cities, and I am so so happy with my decision. AIFS supported me throughout the pre-departure process and was always available to answer my questions regarding absolutely anything. Once I arrived, our resident director had activities planned for us to introduce us to the city, and made us feel welcome right away. The housing provided is at a convenient location, right at a metro stop which is huge for commuting here. Throughout the semester, I've fallen in love with this city and everything in it - the attractions, the food, the culture. Budapest is also very budget-friendly, and a great spot to get cheap flights from if you're planning to travel on weekends while you're here. I would absolutely recommend going through AIFS to Budapest for the semester to anyone!

The AIFS Rome program was an incredible experience. The staff were all very friendly, helpful, and easy to reach out to. The program's meal plan was amazing and allowed for students to visit several great restaurants. The many day trips and weekend excursions were unique to the program and were some of my favorite parts of the semester. I felt like I explored not only Rome but several parts of Italy through the program's many opportunities it offered. Some of my favorite activities offered by AIFS throughout the semester included a Roma football match, cooking classes, wine classes, guided walking tours, opera night, and museum visits. The activities made it easy to meet friends within the program and familiarize myself with the city and culture of Italy. I only wish the program was longer than 13 weeks, but with all the included activities and excursions, it was very worth its price. The academics were for the most part amazing. One of my professors is one of my favorites I've ever had and class was never boring or unmanageable. Many class sessions included field trips. As an Art History student, I thought that the program's classes for my major were incredible. My apartment was in the Prati neighborhood, about a 15 min walk from the school and very close to the Vatican, Piazza Navona, and the Tiber River. The semester was so much fun. Between AIFS's classes and all of their activities, I can't think of a single day where I felt like I'd wasted my time. I would highly recommend this program!

Doing the AIFS Budapest program was such a great decision. Budapest is such a vibrant city with so much to do, and it was great being able to explore it through AIFS activities and with the people I met on this program. The housing was nice and the program is super cost effective with all the different excursions and cultural activities included in the cost, like the trip to Vienna and cooking class (among other things). Studying abroad through AIFS was a life changing experience and I would highly highly recommend.

I had an amazing experience at AIFS! AIFS provided everything we needed to have a great experience here in Rome. Our classes were engaging and fun. A big pro of the program was the meal swipes and grocery gift cards! We were able to travel all over Europe and have the best new experiences. I would recommend this program!!

Although I was definitely nervous to live in a foreign country, Studying Abroad untimely turned out to be one of the greatest experience of my life. The life experience I gained there is invaluable, and the memories will stay with me my whole life. I would definitely recommend studying abroad in Salzburg with AIFS. The staff was accommodating and the professors were passionate about teaching. The workload is relatively light, with is good for those who want to travel (which I would say is a necessity if you want the entire study abroad experience). Salzburg is a beautiful city that I loved every minute of my living there. I would say that, even if you are hesitant, at least look into this program, as this is the only time in your life to sign up for something like this. I know I would regret not studying abroad had I not signed up. For your own sake, please study abroad in Salzburg.

I recently had the incredible opportunity to participate in the internship abroad program in Costa Rica, organized by an outstanding company that provided an experience that was both enriching and stress-free. First and foremost, the program was impeccably organized. The detailed itinerary ensured that our 11 weeks there was filled with valuable experiences, visiting various places in Costa Rica. The company left no room for uncertainty, which was greatly appreciated in an unfamiliar country. One of the highlights of this program was the strong sense of community fostered among participants. From day one, we were encouraged to bond and support each other, creating friendships that enhanced the entire experience. This sense of camaraderie made navigating a foreign environment much easier and more enjoyable. The program's value was also evident in its inclusivity. The price was certainly worth it given the comprehensive services provided. The company not only arranged relevant internships and interviews, ensuring professional development, but also curated exciting weekend excursions that allowed us to explore Costa Rica's natural beauty. While I felt a bit overqualified in my internship placement and would have appreciated a greater challenge, the experience still benefited my resume and allowed me to gain valuable insights into the local work environment. Overall, my study abroad experience in Costa Rica exceeded expectations. I would highly recommend this program to anyone seeking a transformative and well-organized international education experience. The memories and skills gained from this adventure are truly priceless.

The biggest reason why I chose AIFS instead of other programs is because of the amount of culturally immersive activities that they had planned out for the students when compared to other programs. Things like weekend trips to Rome and Venice really grabbed my attention along with the other huge list of smaller optional activities locally, or just a day trip away. I'm truly so thankful for the experiences provided by AIFS, as they helped create a welcoming atmosphere. Things like cooking classes, pizza making classes, painting, day trips to vineyards, Cinque Terre and one of Italy's most notable celebrations: Carnevale. I may have went alone to study abroad, but it was all of these fun activities where I made some of my closest friends to date. Going in by myself was definitely nerve-racking, but because of these culturally immersive activities I was able to bond with plenty of other similar-minded students also abroad.

I really enjoyed this program, if you are doing an internship it can be hard to meet people in a big city but the housing was set up to where if you can put yourself out there, you are able to connect with other students in the building. The on site support staff really cares and support the students and always felt like I could reach out with any problems or questions.

I had the best time interning abroad in Florence. I had a good internship and I made great friends. I would do it again in a heartbeat. Cassidy Fickes was our AIFS contact in Florence, and she was always so helpful and made the process so smooth.

I studied abroad in the spring of 2023 and it was the best three months of my life! I absolutely loved my apartment and the location of it. I felt right at home whether I was at school, going to different restaurants that the program gave us meal slips for, at my apartment, or just roaming the streets. I met so many other students in my program that I am now best friends with. The classes that AIFS offered were so unique and allowed me to get a better understanding of what Rome and its history is all about. My architecture class was my favorite as we got to go on several field trips to different cities and areas around Italy, the food class was also very food as we got to go taste testing different gelatos and foods around Rome! My favorite part of the semester was the trips that Marco, Rosanna and Chicca took us on. It was great spending time in different cities in Italy with my classmates and friends. I truly felt at home as they welcomed us with open arms and were there for us if we ever needed any help or guidance along the way.

Embarking on the AIFS Florence Study Abroad Program was one of the most transformative experiences of my academic journey. From the breathtaking landscapes to the rich cultural heritage, Florence served as an unparalleled backdrop for an unforgettable adventure. One of the most commendable aspects of the program was its seamless integration of academics and cultural immersion. The curriculum, designed offered a diverse range of courses taught by knowledgeable professors who were passionate about their subjects. My personal favorite course was Marketing of Italian luxury fashion. Whether delving into Italian fashion or mastering the nuances of the Italian language, each class was an opportunity for intellectual growth and exploration. Beyond the classroom, AIFS provided a plethora of experiential learning opportunities that allowed students to engage directly with Italian culture. From guided tours of renowned museums to cooking classes led by local chefs, every activity was thoughtfully curated to deepen our understanding of Italian traditions and customs. Living in Florence for a semester provided a unique opportunity for personal growth and self-discovery. Immersing myself in the vibrant local community allowed me to develop many intercultural skills and forge lifelong friendships with fellow students from around the world. Overall, AIFS provides students with an amazing program, idea housing situation, and engaging courses and excursions that will contribute to lifelong memories.

I thought this program was very well put together. I did a painting class and a food culture class, and both were fantastic. I thought the program was well worth the money and the excursions were no more than 20 euro, all of which if you were to do on your own would cost significantly more. I made some wonderful friends here and would totally do this program again in heartbeat.

I couldn’t have asked for a better experience in Florence. AIFS did an amazing job at placing me with an internship that not only fit my interests, but gave me incredible connections in my field of work. The 3 girls I was roomed with quickly became my closest friends, and we got to travel and experience living abroad together. In all transparency, working abroad is a lot different than studying. It is very demanding, however so insightful and worthwhile. I highly recommend AIFS if you are looking for an opportunity to work abroad. I even got a job offer after my internship!

I really enjoyed my internship and this program! I had an amazing internship experience and got to meet life long friends along the way. I would definitely recommend this program to someone who want to have a work experience and study abroad! Especially, to someone who wants to build their resume. I know that’s what attracted me to this program. The housing accommodation was great good size rooms, kitchen and living room. Amazing support by advisors Amanda and Antonella. You are able to reach them at any point during experience and they will get back to you as soon as they can. Overall, I had a great experience and will cherish this period of my life forever.

Overall, I had a great experience in Milan and am very grateful for the support and guidance offered by our program advisors. Although my internship was not the professional experience I had hoped for, living abroad and immersing myself in a new culture made the program worth it. If there had been clearer expectations about my role as an intern I think this could have helped me have a more valuable work experience. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking for the opportunity to live abroad in a major city.

My internship placement was fantastic, I was often tasked with projects that can be used in my portfolio and I was fortunate enough to experience Milan Fashion Week and attend some of the events. Hi! I was apart of the Spring 2024 intern abroad program in Florence. I had the best time ever! I will be honest though, the experience is not easy. As an intern abroad you have to balance time very well with social life and work life. I worked 40 hours weeks most weeks and traveled on the weekends. It is exhausting. Luckily I had a great group of girls I was living with and we really bonded over our experience in the program and helped each other vent and get through the hard parts. The placement I had was the perfect type of internship, which is great because I needed the experience. Although, working in a different countries does have some hardships. I am a pretty personable person and the language barrier made it very hard for me to make connections with the people in the office with me, a lot of the time they would speak in Italian and I knew very little. It felt a little lonely and I have never been in a work environment where I wasn’t friends with those who I was working with. It definitely became a really tiresome feeling and I dreaded going to the internship towards the end. I also did not need credit and was doing this for experience so working as much as I did burnt me out kind of fast. I had hoped there was a part time position or option but that was not possible. But in all I had a really great time, the experience was once in a lifetime and I would definitely recommend!

Overall, this experience abroad was eye opening and amazing! I couldn't have asked for better program advisors, Antonella and Amanda. They were super welcoming and responsive. During my time, I was able to travel outside of Italy, explore Milan, and met lifelong friends which was one of my favorite parts about being here. However, my internship was not something I got to excel in professionally. I think the employer should be more honest on what the job entails to the intern and to AIFS because my responsibilities did not align with what I actually did during my internship.

The on the ground staff were super supportive and planned exciting events. The apartments are in a great location and everyone had spacious rooms. My internship contained busy work and I don't think I grow professionally. I'm a fashion marketing student but if I knew the fashion business internship consisted of photo copying and getting clients coffee I would have applied to a marketing-only position. The program ran very smoothly and was well structured but most of the winter students were not satisfied with their company placement.

My experience was unique because I was the only person on my program who had a remote internship. I feel as though I got off on the wrong foot because I was the only person who had Italian experience, so I was in a different class than the rest of the people in my program. This was no one’s fault, but I wasn’t able to get to know them as we were all on different schedules. The on-site staff, Antonella and Amanda, were so helpful in making all of us feel included and planning great events for us.

I am so grateful for being able to experience studying abroad, the staff here Marco, Chicca, and Rosanna were all very helpful and were able to teach us outside the classroom as well! Definitely recommend going to Rome!

I studied abroad in Salamanca for two weeks, and I wish I had more time and the opportunity to stay for a whole semester. But in that little time, I did so much. The program was well organized and included many excursions while also leaving time for you to plan your own activities. Classes were from 8 am-2:15 pm and after classes came the best part, Siesta time. There are many bars, stores, and museums where you can spend your time. Compared to more recognized cities like Madrid, Salamanca is cheaper, so I recommend taking advantage of that. During my time, I also had the opportunity to go to Barcelona for one weekend and Madrid the next. I absolutely loved both cities too. My recommendations for you are to make sure you are ready to walk a lot and if you are doing a January term- since it's a short program you will do a lot of activities- so save your energy. Plan accordingly. Rest whenever you find the time but take advantage of the opportunity and your time there so you don't regret anything. Take pictures for memories!!!

My semester in Salamanca was one of the best times of my life. Here are some words I would use to describe Salamanca and my college experience there: peaceful, entertaining, fun, fascinating, simpatico, and take-me-back. My international business courses were interesting, the professors were great, the food was amazing, going out was fun, and the excursions to Portugal and around Spain were awesome. I highly recommend looking into the AIFS Salamanca program if you are at all interested in the Spanish culture, a fun college experience in a beautiful walkable city, or learning about international business in a foreign country.

I am so happy I chose AIFS program to study abroad in Madrid for summer 2023! I would recommend this program to my friends and family who have an interest in studying abroad, even consider it doing it again myself. The entire process went smoothly for me from applying, to the flight and transportation set up as well as living arrangements. I got to stay in an amazing neighborhood and the apartment was nice and big to accommodate my rooomates and I. This experience was life changing and one I would never forget, I was lucky enough to not have any issues at all with my study abroad experience which for me made this a smooth easy journey ! Don't even give it a second thought just go for it if this is something that interests you !

I had an amazing time with this program and made so many incredible friends. My class was well-structured with both class lectures and field lectures every single day which I was very grateful for. Although it was tiring walking around the city so much, it was amazing being able to see so much in just a 2.5 week class. Additionally, AIFS provided so many opportunities to get the most out of my experience for additional, but affordable, prices. I was able to attend/participate in a street food tour, cooking class, wine class, opera, and much more. All of the AIFS J-term Rome staff was very approachable and helpful during my time there– I wish I was able to stay for longer!

My experience with AIFS was amazing! I took an introduction to painting class in Florence and had the best professor. Every weekend trip that AIFS took us on was 100% worth the 19,000 steps a day?. I decided to study abroad because I wanted to get out into the world and have an adventure and with AIFS I definitely had one. I wish I had the time to study abroad again with them.

My time I spent in Stellenbosch and in South Africa at large, was unlike any study abroad experience that I have heard of in my time in college. The African safari and game drives, the beautiful landscapes of vast mountain ranges, long strands, which are all complemented by the vibrant culture, friendly strangers, and the best braai the world has to offer. I loved my time South Africa and I hope to visit Stellenbosch some day again.

If there is one thing I would say to someone considering going abroad, I would tell them to do it. I was definitely worry-some at the thought of leaving home to live in an unfamiliar foreign country, but i must say that AIFS really does their part in making you feel at home. With their friendly & welcoming staff there with you every step of the way from pre-departure to "I don't want to go back home". They do their jobs very well in providing an experience that certainly will never go forgotten. Not only did I create countless memories during my time with AIFS, but I made life-long friends from all over the world through their inclusive events and activities provided with the program. The AIFS team plans out extracurricular cultural-emerging activities for their students which was probably my favorite part. Going abroad with an American study abroad program, I was a little worried that I wouldn't get the full experience of living abroad, but these activities helped me feel more immersed in another culture than I ever have before! These activities are just one of the endless reasons why I would recommend AIFS to anyone that's considering studying abroad.

Going abroad was an incredible summer! I was able to get immersed in the culture and environment. AIFS set up many events to make sure each student had the chance to gain experiences in the culture. I created great friends and have lifelong memories I will be walking away from the program!

One of my professors at the University of Sevilla told us that he studied abroad in Sevilla when he was younger and loved it so much that he just decided to stay permanently, and I definitely understand why. I spent the fall 2023 semester in Sevilla through AIFS and I loved it! AIFS, specifically my resident director, Edu, really made my time there a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Edu has a ton of experience, is super helpful, and is very cool. He went the extra mile to make sure all of us were set up for success. Even small things like showing us where our classes were made a huge difference and were things that students from other programs didn't benefit from. Some of my favorite moments were the activities that AIFS organized, including a paella cooking class and a flamenco class. I also loved how easy it was to travel through Europe from Sevilla, and Edu had a lot of great trips planned for us. Something that took some getting used to was how hot the weather was through October, but it was worth it having 60-70 degree weather in December! If you're thinking about studying abroad in Sevilla with AIFS, I would totally recommend it. Make sure you keep an open mind, try new things, and put yourself outside of your comfort zone. AIFS was there for me every step of the way and I would recommend them for anybody interested in studying abroad, especially in Sevilla!

Studying abroad in Salamanca was the best experience/semester I had while studying in University. I was immersed in the Spain culture due to the lack of English that was spoken there. The people, the food, and the way of life in Spain is amazing. I learned more studying abroad in Salamanca than any semester I had back in University. If you want to learn Spanish and have an authentic Spain experience you should study abroad in Salamanca.

In Fall of 2023, I had the opportunity to live in Florence and work as an intern for a local company. As part of the program, AIFS Abroad provided me housing and a cohort with whom to live and spend time around the city. They matched us well with roommates and housemates of program participants with similar living habits and preferences. I enjoyed the time I spent with this group, and we still keep in touch. The beginning of the program included three weeks of language classes at a local language school for foreign students. This immersion class is one of my favorite experiences, as I got to learn Italian language from an authentic Italian teacher, and I got to be in class with students from all over the world. I made new friends and learned language skills that I still practice to this day. Outside of language classes and internships, AIFS provided group activities and excursions like dinners, cooking classes, and day trips to nearby cities. I greatly enjoyed these trips, and if anything, wish we could have had more activities like this. One thing that I do wish there was more of is connection to local groups and communities within the city. I found myself wanting to get involved in certain hobbies or groups that I did not know how to find. I think that if I had been connected to a college campus this may have been easier. AIFS does provide a great deal of resources to acclimate you to life in a foreign city, such as mental health resources, but I think it would be beneficial to provide participants with connections to local clubs, groups, and other activities.

While this study abroad was short, it was full of amazing opportunities and we were always doing fun things. I would recommend this study abroad to anyone looking for an opportunity outside of their university. Very organized and great people!

I participated in the AIFS Granada program for the Spring Semester of 2023 and I had an amazing experience. The onsite staff were extremely accommodating and were ready and available to help us with anything we needed. The cultural activities were amazing for both learning about the rich culture of Spain as well as bonding with the other students in my program. Also, Granada is a small, walkable city near the beach and mountains, so there is truly something for everyone there. Through this program, I was able to make lifelong friendships, improve my Spanish language skills, and learn so much history and culture.

Every second I was studying abroad in Italy, I felt so lucky that I had this opportunity! The activities and hospitality were amazing. I got to enjoy the city of Florence and travel throughout Italy, all while learning about and experiencing the culture!

I chose Barcelona, Spain as my study abroad location because I wanted to travel to Europe and learn more Spanish! After exploring my school's study-abroad partners, I chose AIFS at UAB because it had the best course equivalency for my school back in the United States. I am so happy I chose this program, and I wouldn't change a thing about it. I made some great friends through this program from all over the world! During my four months there, I learned so much about Spain's rich culture and grew to be a more mindful and independent person. I've carried my new worldly view back into my life in the United States, and I can't wait to see where I go next.

My J Term in Florence was the experience of a lifetime! From the housing, to the meal plan, to the course I took (Food Culture in Italy) to the tours provided by AIFS everything was perfect. This is an incredible program I would recommend to every student! Florence is a beautiful city and AIFS makes it even better.

I loved this study abroad experience! I spent 3 weeks in Salamanca, Spain, which is a smaller city. In those 3 weeks, I felt like I truly lived in that city. The smaller city size meant that less people spoke English, so that provided me with an opportunity to progress in my Spanish. I got to explore, learn about its history, and meet some amazing people. A large focus of my trip was learning Spanish. I lived with 3 other students in a Spanish family's home. That was pure immersion since they didn't speak English. The host family was so welcoming, fun, and the host mom made amazing food! We got to speak with the children in Spanish and watch movies with them! Our classes helped me learn a lot of Spanish. We had awesome excursions, and opportunities to make friends with other students. Overall, this was a great way to spend a winter break!

My experience with AIFS played a huge role in me finding my path as a student, in my career, and as a person. I was placed in an internship where we worked closely with the Municipality of Curridabat in the CITBIO project. We met with everyone from the mayor, city planners, university professors and students, and closely with landscape architects, arboreal, agricultural, soil, avian, and ecological experts. My comfort zone has expanded considerably, I went into this experience knowing no one and no Spanish, but AIFS provided us with opportunities to bond and to learn, and that is exactly what happened. This has catalyzed growth for me in ways I could not have imagined prior to this experience. If I could give any advice to someone looking into this program it would be to TRUST THE PROCESS. There will be ups and downs, of course, that is life, but take every opportunity available and embrace the discomfort because that is the beauty of it all-- seeing the full spectrum of the experience and carrying that with you.

I honestly had the best 3 and a half months of my life while in Prague. The city is so beautiful it's so easy to fall in love with. The other students in the program are now some of my favorite people ever and I miss them dearly now that I'm home.

I had always wanted to study abroad and this past summer had lined up well for me to do so, I found this AIFS program in Granada and chose it. It was an amazing choice. I became much more fluent in Spanish with all of the constant immersion. I made many friends with similar worldwide interests from many countries in my classes and in my program. I got to taste some Homelife of a homestay in Granada with a wonderful host mother. The absolute time of my life I had there makes my normal college experience at home seem dull, it has filled me with wanderlust and a desire to explore more to have similar experiences. I highly recommend this program and studying abroad to anyone and everyone. The AIFS staff were incredibly personable and kind and the classes at the CLM were as well.

Studying abroad in Prague with AIFS was by far one of the best decisions I have ever made. First, the AIFS staff, Renata, Z, and Jenny were some of the kindest and most caring people I have ever met. Their passion for the program, the beautiful country of the Czech Republic, and all the students was honestly beautiful. Being able to learn from Z about absolutely anything you could possibly want to know was phenomenal. They always catered to the students in planning activities and always asked for input on what we would want to do which was so nice because it felt we were getting a personalized experience. The centralized location of Prague made it so easy to take excursions around the area via train or plane which allowed for even more immersion in the cultures of other countries as well. The classes were very fun and the professors were all so passionate about what they taught which made it even more enjoyable to learn from them. The best part overall though was the friendships I made. Living in Kolej created such a lovely community with everyone in AIFS but also with all the other programs that were learning at Charles University. Whether it was seeing everyone in the breakfast room, running into each other while doing laundry, or cooking a meal for 10 in the kitchen every little experience turned into a beautiful memory. I made some of the best friends ever and we still stay in touch daily. Since studying abroad we've traveled all around the US to meet up with each other and I am so grateful for this program for making that happen.

I went into this experience having done very little research and not knowing what to necessarily expect. I left this experience with much more knowledge about Florence, Italy, and Europe in general. I made many new friends and have memories to last a lifetime. AIFS assisted me in many ways before and during this process and I am so glad I chose them to take me on this journey. I have thousands of photos to pore over the rest of my life and many new lifelong friends!

AIFS provided an amazing study abroad experience! The courses, meal plan, living accommodations were great and the cultural education I received was very valuable. I continue to recommend this program to others!

My choice to study in Salzburg was considerably the best decision I have ever made in my entire life. The city itself is a charming mix of the old architecture and history you will find in smaller cities and with also an added hustle that is common in cities the size of Salzburg. The people who head up the Salzburg sector of AIFS are lovely and accommodating to any issue that should arise during the duration off your program and all of the professors are professional and helpful. If you are looking for an experience like no other, I highly recommend choosing Salzburg!

I had so much fun, it was a bit nerve wrecking not knowing anyone but it was such a wonderful experience. I ended up getting to know so many new people from around the U.S. and we still keep in touch now. I hope to have another opportunity like this again.

My experience abroad was one of the most influential moments of my life. After spending 5 months in Italy with the AIFS Study Abroad Program in Firenze, I discovered a million new things about myself. I gained confidence in spending time alone, exploring new places, and making incredible friends. The Italian culture and language created a warm and welcoming environment; I always felt like a character in a movie when strolling through the streets of Firenze or enjoying coffee at my favorite place, Gusta Bar. The administrative staff at the AIFS Florence location played a crucial role in this amazing journey. Not only were they incredibly accommodating and understanding of the challenges I faced living in a new environment far from home, but they also provided much-needed friendship during difficult times. While in Italy, a friend of mine passed away, and being so far away from my loved ones during their mourning and missing my family deeply was a significant challenge. However, Firenze, with its vibrant colors, beautiful art, kind people, and delicious food, became a home away from home. Now, back in the U.S. and my 'normal' life, I realize how deeply Italy has touched my soul. From the way I dress to how I eat and even in the way I treat the people around me, there's a piece of Italy in each of those aspects of myself. This transformation wouldn't have been possible without the support from AIFS and its exceptional staff, the friends I made along the way, and the comforting embrace of Firenze.

I throughly enjoyed my time in Berlin! My host company was phenomenal! AIFS also took us on many excursions and explored some of Berlin and outside the city. I learned a lot from my internship and loved living in such a interesting city for the summer

From beginning to end, my time with AIFS in Maynooth was literally AMAZING. I met some people that I’m still friends with, had food I’ve never had before, and got to experience a new way of life. It was so, so, SO relaxing. There were it’s tough moments for sure, but God blessed me even (or especially) in those moments in that I learned how to grow and be an adult and make my own decisions in those moments. It was so gorgeous and I loved shopping in downtown Dublin, trying foods in Maynooth, and learning to catch their (beautiful and clean and safe) buses! It’s been 6 months now and I miss it so much!!!

I had a wonderful experience with AIFS for my summer semester. The program provides some excursions depending on your duration; I was given tickets to museums, a Seine boat tour, and Opéra Garnier. Some excursions were at specific times and if you couldn't make it during the group time, you were given a ticket to go on your own. I know students in the second session had the chance to go to Versailles (I was 1st session and was not eligible for this). I met and made friends with others in my program, through AIFS and CCFS. My host family was PHENOMENAL and I know my friends who also stayed with hosts had a great experience. My friends in the dorms said it was okay, but living with a family would have been more fun. A majority of the experience is not hosted by AIFS so you have to be willing to make friends and do things on your own. One critique I have is that I wish the metro card was included in my tuition. Overall, I loved my experience with CCFS and AIFS.

AIFS was helpful in the pre-departure, and in ensuring that all students were ready to go and prepared for Paris! We stayed with a host family and had a weekly dinner with the family. It was nice to get to experience living like a true Parisian. CCFS was, from what I experienced, mostly international students. I went in knowing almost no French and I learned a LOT!!! It was really easy to go out and meet locals, but I did not meet many locals at school! Everyone that was in the program was wonderful and the AIFS staff are amazing! The study-abroad students that I was with became like my family and we still stay in touch now! The only drawback was the lack of variety of classes that CCFS offered non-french speakers.

My semester abroad met its expectations. The location was stunning, the program director professors were friendly, and there was plenty of flexibility allowing me to travel to other countries, a major “plus” for someone who had never been to Europe before! Cannes is a quaint little town that absolutely transforms into a hustling city come the annual film festival. It was interesting to get to know Cannes so well during its “off season” before the film festival kicked off. Overall, it was amazing.

I wished that my semester-long study abroad experience in Granada had been a year, but I had to get back to continue my "real" studies in my university (Psychology and Philosophy). The memories I made at the Universidad de Granada will last a lifetime, and the friends I made in the community I will keep close in my heart. The schooling was amazing, and I really enjoyed my classes that I was able to take in Spanish after having moved up a level. My background when I got there was one semester of Spanish at the College of William and Mary. The classes at the Universidad de Granada are super approachable and the professors super nice and helpful. I loved my class on Spanish art and architecture the most. My AIFS community helped me throughout this whole process, and I knew if I was having trouble getting adapted on my own that I could reach out to them at any point. I went to my director, Noelia, for relationship advice a few times. My living situation ended up being good overall, but that part could have been better. I did not get to do much with my host family, which was a disappointment. Thankfully, I met great people in the community where I learned how to play Spikeball, dance Salsa and Bachata, and play Ultimate frisbee a little differently than in the states. I have carried these experiences with me this past year. I wish to go back to experience anew the amazing scenery that the Alhambra had to offer, as well as the beaches which made for perfect day trips. The transportation system was also a highlight because I was able to take big Alsa buses to and from the beaches, as well as bla bla cars everywhere!

Oh, Prague. It was not a traditional choice for a first-time trip overseas, but I think this may be a part of what I learned about myself, and the people I met. Prague is a special place. It became clear to me, a week or so in, just how much the Soviet Occupation (which ended only forty years ago) impacts the behaviors of a society and its culture. Our program coordinator, a local, advised us not to smile at anyone, either on the street, or inside any shops or restaurants. I was a little put off by this at first, but I learned that it is not because Czech people are mean-spirited or unhappy; it is simply not how they live. Most explanations of cultural differences related back to their Soviet occupation, when people were so used to their every move being watched and reported. “Ah, no one usually talks on the trams or metros.” “Don’t wear anything too fancy; people generally don’t like any display of wealth.” “If you smile at a stranger, they’ll panic and think they’re supposed to know you.” Or, my favorite: “If you have a beer in your hand, it’s an open invitation for someone to approach you.” Czech people do not operate in any way that is wrong (except maybe their food), and even though some of their behaviors were significantly different than what I experience in the United States, as time I went by, I found myself adjusting — and even preferring — some of their practices. The biggest takeaway I received was a modification of my “us” versus “them” mentality. It is not that I became ignorantly unaware of our cultural differences, just much more adept at melding to the crowd, allowing myself to observe rather than participate and, importantly, be less hyper-aware of every different thing people were doing. I learned firsthand how people live in dissimilar, sometimes contrasting, ways, and how that changes the way people think. I would sometimes be shocked by the forwardness of some Czechs until I truly understood that I have no right to be offended or shocked — that’s just how they are, and it was my fault for not understanding that. I was a visitor, and that humbled me, allowing me to take a step outside of myself and my American bubble. Franz Kafka lived in Prague, and it makes sense that he was such an absurdist writer. Prague is romantic, but it is also eccentric and can be very odd (like the sculpture of two men peeing so elegantly entitled “Piss Sculpture”). This is to say: many odd situations taught me valuable lessons. Our program coordinator took our small group of twelve to a hidden, members-only bar, where her son-in-law was playing American folk music with a ragtag band that met every week. Despite their expectations, and even with most of us being from the Midwest or South, no one knew any of the songs, so we snuck a peak at our phones so we could sing the lyrics right. Sometimes you just have to play along to make others happy, especially when they’re doing something for you. And when we took a trip to Moravia and sang, with strict rehearsals from our program coordinator, a traditional Czech wine song to the family that hosted us for a wine tasting. The family bluntly told us that we butchered the Czech. I was slightly offended at first, but they were completely right, and there was no harm in admitting it. Czech humor is an acquired taste, and it mostly relies on crass, self-deprecating jokes. (And now, I see the appeal.) Or, when a friend and I ordered beer cheese at a divey restaurant only for it to come with pickled herring. Our waiter was so excited for us to try it we had no choice but to eat. It was awful, but Czechs are particular about wasting food, and he was so happy we had ordered it. Sometimes, you have to steel yourself and just do it. I did more than visit Prague. I saw Vienna, Budapest, Poprad, Smizany, Krakow, Venice, Bologna, Florence, Incisa, Pisa, Rome, and Illnau. I list all of these places because I learned something new in each of these cities. In Budapest, I learned how to respond to a crisis abroad. In Venice, I learned that traveling alone as a woman, while intimidating, is extremely freeing. Florence taught me physical adversity; how to persist despite the almost unbearable temperature of 112°F outside. Illnau showed me the kindness of strangers, and their willingness to talk for hours, exchanging life stories. I kept a daily journal of my travels, telling myself what I did that day so I won’t forget even the little details, which can sometimes hold the most vital lessons. The adaptability, humility, and confidence I learned through my travels will be invaluable to my daily life, allowing me to be a leader among peers and a confidant for friends. I plan to go to law school, and these skills will make it much easier for me to persist and remain optimistic despite the rigorous course load I will have to undertake. The courses I took in Prague while simultaneously trying to explore the city solidified an intense “work hard, play hard” mentality within me. And Prague, of course, will never leave my heart.

I went on a 3 week trip to Rome with AIFS Abroad. From the beginning, we were partnered with amazing and caring chaperones, but it never felt over-bearing. My favorite thing about AIFS is how supported I felt, but also with so much freedom to go and explore Italy! We took weekend trips to different places throughout Italy. There were some planned out things, and also plenty of time to do your own exploring. I remember feeling so overwhelmed about which study abroad program to pick, because there are so many out there. I am SO grateful I picked AIFS and stuck through with it. They made everything leading up to the trip, during, and leaving, as seamless as possible.

My wife and I were both students looking for a study abroad experience together, and decided to try out Barcelona. The ordeal was easy and AIFS was eager to answer any questions we had. The best part was that AIFS was able to accommodate our situation, and found us a host-family we could stay at together.

AIFS was the best possible choice that I could’ve made for my study abroad experience. The application process was seamless, and you’re supported every step of the way (even abroad). I was so nervous about traveling alone to a new country, but the AIFS-created community and group activities allowed for such an easy immersion into a new culture. I have friends that will last a lifetime because of this experience, and the impact that it has had on me personally/professionally is unquantifiable. Through my time abroad, I discovered passions that I didn’t even know I had, and I was even inspired to help others study abroad on my own campus after experiencing how helpful the people at AIFS were! I genuinely cannot rave about this program and provider enough.

Sometimes when traveling abroad, you expect to have to overcome some challenges along the way whether it be transportation, accommodation, social life, homesickness, etc. I was preparing for all of these things coming to Galway, but truly never had a single problem, and I have AIFS Abroad, our wonderful program manager and friend Karen, and Galway to thank for it. The warm hospitality and lively culture of this coastal Irish town will always have a special place in my heart along with the many people I met during my journey. I came to Ireland for the first time when I was 12, and since then its been at the forefront of my mind to go back. Upon arrival, our program manager Karen organized some incredible welcoming events that brought us all together very quickly. She also did an amazing job of planning events around Galway and day trips to unique places on the west coast of Ireland including the Aran Islands, Cliffs of Moher, and the Burren. As for my internship, I worked for a digital media company and got some great experience with graphic design, social media management, and editing professional videos and podcasts. My internship was very flexible with letting me have a balance between work and Irish adventures which I was super grateful for. I came to Galway in search of cultural integration, professional development, and building strong social connections, and I ended up discovering a home away from home. So thank you to AIFS abroad for making this the best summer yet.

I did my junior semester abroad and I had the opportunity to meet so many other students who gave me support and became family for me. We were all in this together and I was so excited to explore the city and live in a different context than my own. The program and the people who make it work do such an amazing job at being supportive and frequently check in with the students. I recommend the program!

In the summer of 2022, I had the incredible opportunity to visit London through AIFS's three-week program, and it turned out to be the adventure of a lifetime. The program's well-thought-out structure not only provided enriching classroom experiences but also allowed ample room for exploration. I was able to see other parts of the country, not just the London area. I visited historical sites such as the Roman baths, Stonehenge, and Hampton Court Palace. Immersing myself in the local culture became a highlight, thanks to the program's exciting excursions. One memorable instance was attending a performance of "The Lion King" at the West End theater alongside my classmates. This was a truly unforgettable experience that has left a lasting impression on me. Overall, I had an amazing time in London and would recommend this program to anyone interested in studying abroad!

The Portugal j-term trip was such a great experience! There were so many options for activities and cultural experiences organized by the University, but it’s also a great location to explore in smaller groups too. The University’s program included students from all over the world, which I thought added good depth to the class.

Shall I compare this program to a summers day…what a wonderful time I had in London. Not only was it a remarkable academic experience, but it also provided an opportunity to forge lasting friendships. The faculty and staff of the Globe higher education program were made up of a brilliant array of scholars and artists that provided a diverse selection of lessons from historic dances to stage combat. As students we were given the opportunity to see multiple globe theater productions in person, which we then reflected on and analyzed to develop and perform scenes of our own. The location of the theater itself was ideal for exploring central London, I often found myself inspired by the rich history of the city. I recommend this program to anglophiles and Shakespeare enthusiasts alike!

Studying abroad in Florence was an incredibly life changing experience that exceeded all expectations. The program seamlessly combined academic rigor with cultural immersion. The professors were not only experts in their fields but also passionate about sharing the beauty of Florence, making my experience more genuine and personal. The city itself is a masterpiece. Exploring iconic landmarks like the Uffizi Gallery, Ponte Vecchio, and the Duomo became an integral part of our education, and was even more meaningful to me because of my professors knowledge and the fact that I was able to experience it with lifelong friends. The program coordinators went above and beyond to ensure our safety, comfort, and integration into the local community. The apartment option provided an authentic glimpse into Italian life in the city, and fostered friendships and language skills that will last a lifetime. Florence became not just a classroom, but a second home where we painted memories and grew academically, culturally, and personally. I wholeheartedly recommend this study abroad program to anyone seeking an immersive, transformative experience in one of the most captivating cities in the world.

As part of AIFS Abroad in London, my classmates and I got to explore numerous parts of London, learn about luxury branding and British culture, and travel to major cultural landmarks. Our class was informative as well as engaging. We got personal tours of iconic British luxury hotels (ie. The Dorchester, The Waldorf), as well as went to the Burlington Arcade. AIFS also made sure to plan activities to bring the students together and give us a memorable experience. I greatly enjoyed seeing Stonehenge and going to an English Country Dance class. I'll never forgot what I learned in the classroom or my experiences with my classmates exploring London!

Interning in Galway may have been the best decision I have made! The AIFS program made it very easy to set up interviews with host companies and land an internship that would most benefit my knowledge of my major and career outlooks, in my case, chemistry. Even in a more niche area of study the team can work with your needs and give you the best possible experience. The program team was always ahead of the game, making sure travel paperwork and coaching calls were maintained in the months leading up to departure. The program was very helpful and friendly in my needs and what I wanted to accomplish whilst on the trip. On top of internship placement, the program has plenty more to offer. Housing was very nice and centrally located in Galway to get around easily. I was lucky enough to have 11 other interns with me during the experience as my roommates, making the experience 10x better. The program also planned trips across Ireland to visit monuments and other historic sites. Whether I was working, traveling, or experiencing life in Galway, the AIFS program made my dreams come true!! Thank you!! PS: I was able to get very close to even my bosses and colleagues during my 10 week stay to the point where I now have connections in my field across the globe!! (pictured below)

Studying abroad in Dublin was a transformative experience that seamlessly blended academics with the charm of Irish culture. From the exciting and quaint campus life at DCU to the lively conversations with friends in the Irish pubs, every moment felt like a page in a well-written novel. The warmth of the people, the rich history, and the vibrant arts scene made this journey unforgettable. Cheers to AIFS for making that possible!

I recently did a semester abroad in Florence, Italy with AIFS this past fall semester and it was such an absolutely amazing experience. From the application process to the time I left Italy the AIFS staff was incredibly helpful and truly wanted to make your experience as amazing as possible. All 10 of us in the program attended all of the events AIFS organized except for 1 and they were absolutely amazing. The welcome dinner and exit dinner were also at 2 places that I had been wanting to try and they were so delicious. The AIFS team was super helpful and made the whole experience just that much better!

My j-term in Dublin was one of my favorite experiences in life thus far. Before going I had never flown out of the US, and never alone. I felt unprepared going into my flight as I wasn't quite sure what I was getting myself into. I felt like AIFS did not do a great job communicating, as myself and several other students felt unprepared and confused. We were given incorrect papers several times, and the syllabus was wrong. HOWEVER after everything was settled and we finally made it to our housing I had a wonderful time. Dublin is beautiful, and I felt like we were shown that. I made great friends and have nothing but fond memories.

I had a great experience in London over the summer! My internship placement was decent; I really enjoyed who I worked with but didn't end up enjoying the actual work I was doing all that much. But, it was nonetheless a good experience for me to have to learn about what positions I want to pursue in the future. All of the AIFS staff were extremely helpful throughout the placement process and were really great during the actual abroad experience. It was great to be able to meet so many awesome people through the program from different schools. Our social life was great too!

I really enjoyed the AIFS summer program in Madrid at the University of Nebrija. I took an invigorating class on the Spanish culture and was able to practice my Spanish language skills in many different settings. In addition to the classes, the program provided us ample opportunities to explore the city and immerse ourselves in the day to day lives of Madrilenos.

This program gave me a life changing opportunity to work and live in the heart of Florence, Italy. Words cannot describe how amazing my time was because of the coordination of the program and the advisors who were always eager to help from the beginning to end. I was placed in an internship that helped me grow professionally and personally where I had real responsibilities, unlike some of the girls that barely had to come to work and had poor communication with their bosses. My housing situation only had some issues with the oven not working a few times, besides that the apartment was amazing. We had a balcony with a great view unlike the others, it was very spacious and in a nice quiet neighborhood close to the center. I truly made lifelong friendships with the people in the program, especially the girls I lived with and traveled. The program gave a lot of freedom to the students which forced us to be independent and made it possible for me to travel somewhere every weekend. This experience opened my eyes to the world and if you have the chance, 100% I suggest this program!

Studying abroad in Limerick with AIFS was an incredible experience. Elaine Keane, who ran our excursions and made sure we were settled in, was absolutely amazing. The group of students who went with AIFS that semester was fairly small, and we had lots of opportunities to hang out and become good friends. We got to go on several excursions to various sites around Ireland, including the Cliffs of Moher, Galway, and the Aran Islands, and for those excursions, AIFS provided the accommodations and some meals, as well as activities such as bus and carriage tours. Outside of the excursions, Elaine met with us weekly to check on how our classes were going, how our living situation was, whether we were finding everything we needed, and to answer any questions we might have. The University of Limerick has a gorgeous campus (lot of walking though!) with good faculty who were understanding of the fact that we were studying abroad. UL has a large base of global students, so their global office and accommodations for those students are well-developed. I learned a lot about Irish culture while studying here, thanks to the many fun classes UL offers. The university is located just outside of Limerick, with several bus routes from the school to the city, and there are several shopping centers near the university as well. It was definitely worth going in to Limerick every so often- one of my favorite parts was the weekly Milk Market that happens every Saturday. I was also able to get a card at the Limerick Library and borrow books instead of buying them, which was awesome. Limerick also has bus routes to Shannon Airport, which I recommend if you want to travel outside of Ireland; Dublin Airport is your other option, which is much busier but it is also fairly easy to get to (you can take the train from Limerick station and then get on the airport shuttle at the Dublin station). There were a lot of cheap flights that I was able to get, so I could travel to places like Edinburgh, London, and Amsterdam on the weekends and over breaks. The only not-so-great part of the experience was the accommodations at UL, due to a combination of the random roommate assignment (which was unfortunately just my bad luck and outside of AIFS's control) and the facilities at Plassey, the student village I lived in (the laundry, for one, and some of the design choices for flooring and furniture made the houses seem dirty no matter how clean they were). However, this one aspect was a small price to pay for the opportunities I got on this trip. I was able to travel around Ireland and parts of Europe on the weekends, while learning about Ireland's culture and history during the week on a beautiful campus. I also made friends that I am still in touch with, and that I hope will stay lifelong friends thanks to our experiences together. Overall, I highly recommend this program to anyone interested in studying in Ireland- Limerick may not seem as exciting as Dublin or Galway, but I promise this city has a lot to offer you. I'm really glad I chose to do this program.

The level of acceptance and support I received while abroad was life changing. As a trans man I was nervous about traveling and having my identity respected, but the AIFS staff welcomed me with open arms and continued to advocate for me through my entire time there. My host family was beyond everything I could have imagined and I was able to create a bond with them which I believe will last a lifetime. I could not be more grateful for my experiences with AIFS and I’m eager to see more of the world on my own.

aifs made everything easy and immsered me into the culture extremely well. Aifs gave me incredible housing and provided me with excellent staff to help me with anything. The classes I took really helped me learn more about Italian culture, wine marketing, and the European Union. I have already recommended Aifs to other college students that are looking to study abroad!

Global Experiences and AIFS allowed me to have to the best experience of my life. It allowed me see a new country without being completely alone! I made amazing friends I will have for the rest of my life and see amazing places i only dreamed of! The internship was a great experience and I worked with amazing people. This program is definitely something I have not stopped recommending to people since I’ve been back!

Salzburg study abroad: where culture classes met cobblestone confusion, schnitzels challenged my face size, and the Sound of Music tour became a questionable karaoke session. Amidst strudel-induced wisdom and late-night cram sessions, friendships blossomed, creating a chapter filled with laughter and personal growth. Pro tip: embrace the chaos, savor the strudel, and let Salzburg's charm shape your semester.

When I got back to my home university my friend asked how I would describe my trip in three words, discovery, blessing, and fun! It completely rocked my view of the world and travel in general, to see the beauty of another culture is a great opportunity. I also learned a lot about myself and life as I navigated relationships and everyday interactions in a different language. At times it was challenging but it was also so much fun. The number one reason I was afraid to go was because of my fear of missing out on something at my home university, but that was not the case at all I missed a few fun times but nothing worth changing my trip to France and my friends were still there when I got back! Last I was definitely blessed because I feel the three greatest factors on any study abroad trip are the host family, school and roommate and all of these factors were tremendous! If you are considering study abroad this is a no brainer, do it and it’s okay to go without someone you know!

I absolutely loved my time in Valencia! The Resident Director of my program, Janan, was amazing! She helped us get connected in the community and never failed to plan a fun event. I’ll never forget my experience there!

I had the opportunity to study with AIFS at the American Business School of Paris last summer. Due to the season, our program group was small, making it a bit challenging to meet people. However, the living situation was fantastic, located in a safe and central area of Paris, with the metro just a 5-minute walk away for convenient city exploration. Academically, the business school was easily accessible by metro, and the smaller class sizes, possibly due to the off-month scheduling, created a diverse and engaging learning environment. I was fortunate to have an exceptional teacher with extensive experience running her own business. Paris itself was breathtaking, steeped in history, and offered an abundance of activities. Even after a month and a half, I felt there was still so much more to discover in the city. Overall, I can't recommend this program enough – it was truly a dream come true that I won't forget!

Over last summer I was fortunate enough to work for a tour company based out of Sydney, Australia. Not only did I make truly life long friends over this summer but I made so many memories in a completely new environment. My host company was fantastic and has even shifted the focus of my studies back at my home university. I wouldn’t trade the memories I made in Sydney for any other summer experience.

My time in Spain fostered so much personal growth and allowed me to live a life unlike one I have ever experienced. I met wonderful people, experienced a beautiful culture, and made indescribable memories that I will never forget. The cultural activities that were planned by AIFS, especially the cooking class and day trips to surrounding areas were awesome! I wish I could experience studying in Spain ten more times, and am so grateful that I experienced it even once.

My time an Ireland felt like a coming up for fresh air. The city was beautiful and peaceful. There was greenery everywhere; and it was tranquil. Coming to Ireland was difficult because I had never travelled out of the US alone before. But the second I landed I received nothing but hospitality. Arriving in Ireland I had beautiful conversations with the people. I was always left feeling full of energy. I met amazing people who I still see and talk to today. I will always hold the memories I had there close to my heart. It was the best summer of my life and I will forever be grateful for my time there.

Even though my time in Granada with AIFS was short (spanning the month of June 2023), it was time enough for my worldview and self perception to be drastically expanded and changed for the better. I was given freedom to explore the city on my own (as well as outside sites included in the program itinerary) and with friends and meet native Spaniards as well as other travelers, especially other European students on Erasmus with the security of knowing i’m safe and have access to healthcare and assurances with direct access to my program coordinators who we all got to know on a personal level. Academically, the classes all had cultural components to them so we could be immersed in Spanish culture and we were given freedom to adjust our class schedules to accommodate for specifics of our home institutions and preferences. The included excursions were amazing and we were given time away from the set itinerary to explore on our own (Seville, Cordoba, Nerja, etc). We also had time off of school and myself and my group of friends were able to take a vacation to Mallorca with a cheap plane ticket!! I have genuinely nothing bad to say about my experience with AIFS in Granada and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking to study abroad!

This study abroad experience was the best decision I have ever made. I didn’t just learn about a new country and their culture but I learned more about myself and how to be more independent. Salamanca was an amazing city! The history, culture, and people were all amazing. Walking to school and passing by historical and beautiful buildings every day was such a surreal experience. I will never forget this study abroad experience, and truly hope everyone gets to experience this at least once in their life.

My summer abroad truly changed my life. As exaggerated as it sounds, it really is true. I never thought that I would be able to step outside my comfort zone as much as I did this summer. Going to another country by yourself for the first time is extremely intimidating but AIFS made it as smooth and breezy as possible. The whole process of applying as well as the preparation with flights and transportation. My mind was immediately put at ease. Furthermore the program provided so many opportunities to immerse ourselves into the culture and experience new things. We went to a cricket game, we saw The Play That Goes Wrong, we went on tours of Greenwich and Oxford, and so much more. They also provided us with ample safety information as well as assistance with directions and guidance on how to ensure that we were comfortable and confident to explore and live our best lives while in the beautiful city of London. The class I took, British Life and Culture was an incredibly enriching class where we got to see London and it's history through the eyes of a local. I learned so much and enjoyed every second.

Whilst abroad in Florence, I made a lifetime of memories in the span of four weeks. I learned so much about the city as well as myself, and made many friends throughout my time who learned alongside me. I took two classes while I was there, and though they took up majority of my days M-Th, I had so much time in between classes and after to explore! The meal plan was excellent and had all of the best places as a part of it. There were a few complications on getting there and back, but the AIFS team did an excellent job on keeping me updated and calm.

I had a fantastic time during my semester in Rome through AIFS. The directors were amazing and the people were great too. Chicca, Rosanna, and Marco were great directors and mentors. I loved that is was a smaller program and we were immersed throughout the city. I tell everyone to study abroad now because of this experience. I even moved back to Italy for the summer after my program because I loved it so much!

My month-long study abroad experience in Athens, Greece, during July was a captivating journey filled with cultural immersion, breathtaking explorations, and delightful connections. From venturing through the enchanting islands of Hydra, Mykonos, and Aegina to discovering landmarks like Meteora and Porto Rafti, each destination offered a unique and enriching perspective. Indulging in the rich Greek cuisine, meeting incredible people, both locals and fellow study abroad students, and the dedicated support from program advisor Alice collectively shaped an unforgettable and rewarding experience. Greece's vibrant culture, delicious cuisine, and the warmth of its people created a tapestry of memories that will undoubtedly linger in my heart.

my apartment in flornece was incredible. the meal plan was perfect. i loved my experience there!!! all around a wonderful time. academics and education were pretty easy, but deadlines would always pile up. not the best schedule, but the pros outweighed the cons by a million.

When I signed up for AIFS in Sevilla, I didn't realize it would completely change my life. I went into the program not knowing anyone, and I remember feeling so scared when my parents dropped me off at the airport. However, when I arrived in Sevilla I was met with a caring team of staff, and they helped me get ready to take on the adventure. I met people from my program on my first night there who would become my best friends in the world. I traveled to 10 countries on my time off from school. I surprised myself by taking all of my classes in Spanish, and learning so much about the language and culture. I attended La Feria and Semana Santa, and got to visit some of the most historic landmarks in Sevilla. By the end of my trip, I didn't want to come home. The AIFS team did a fantastic job getting us prepped to leave the US, and also assisting us with any challenge that popped up while we were in Spain. Edu & Cristina were so dedicated, charismatic, and kind, and they made me feel so at ease while I was there. Sometimes I think back to that scared girl in the airport, wondering what the next four months would bring, and I wish I could tell her that the best four months of her life were about to begin. This program provided me with the best balance of cultural immersion, language practice, and community I could have asked for I can't recommend this program enough!

My study abroad trip in Costa Rica was something that I will never forget. I had never travelled alone before, but with the aid of the people at AIFS my trip was amazing. I studied Biology and Spanish, while also immersing myself into Costa Rican culture. I am an aspiring bilingual physician, so the program aligned with my goals perfectly! During the 5 weeks of the program, I was able to travel to different areas of Costa Rica every weekend. So not only did I get to experience San José on the weekdays but I got to experience other wonderful cities in Costa Rica. All around, it was an unforgettable experience that I would recommend to anyone!

Studying abroad with AIFS provided me with a fabulous experience. The program did an amazing job getting us acclimated to our new environment. The housing was incredible, the roommate selection was perfect, and the meal vouchers were a life saver! The administration and professors really made the biggest difference in my 3 month experience. Classes did not feel like a job i needed to attend, instead i looked forward everyday to seeing what the agenda for the day would be. The field trips were informative and enjoyable, the professors took the time and energy to connect with the students. This created a community based learning experience, something that i have never had. Although this was a small program with planned activities, i did feel like i was independently living in Italy and had the freedom i needed to explore the country and the city of florence. I cannot thank AIFS enough and would recommend this program to everyone.

While abroad, I felt that I became a whole new person in the best way possible. I would say that my time abroad was unique as I did not stay in my host city on the weekends. During the weekends, I was fortunate enough to travel to others countries and experience their culture as well. I have a deep respect and desire to want to understand the different languages and traditions other cultures have and I have found the best way to discover this would be through traveling. Much to my surprise, I solo traveled all these adventures and I know that if I were to tell myself that when I was younger, I would not believe it. Though, I will admit, my first solo trip was not planned as I had a flight error while in Madrid and then elected to stay in Madrid alone the rest of the weekend rather than head back to Salamanca. But this spontaneity, something I don't typically practice, was so freeing and honestly led to the best memories. Throughout my travels, I had met so many wonderful people from all different walks of life and loved to learn more about their own unique stories, but still found comfort in my "homebase" of Salamanca. I found much independence and liberation through solo traveling as it allowed me to choose what I wanted to do and where I was headed. That being said, traveling around Europe was not only easy but also cost-efficient. I really enjoyed being able to utilize the public transportation systems and loved the overall ability to walk everywhere. Additionally, the awareness to the environment is so much different because of public transportation, which allows less pollution in the air. Due to all the factors and aspects that I loved abroad, I am hoping to return and reside in Europe permanently, but I must complete my undergraduate degree first. However, I will admit that I am applying to masters of public health programs abroad, as another benefit of Europe is the affordable education. Overall, I think the United States could learn a thing or two from Europe, but until then, I will just continue to share my amazing experience with others, hoping that they too can experience Europe for themselves. Upon returning abroad, it was difficult to assimilate back into my old life as it was not Europe. While in Europe my mental health was amazing, I was present everyday as I was experiencing new things all the time. But here in the states life was so much different. The cost of goods was more expensive, everything was further away from each other, and public transportation was rarely utilized in my suburban community. In complete honesty, I still have trouble being back home and am looking forward to the day that I can return to the "best version of myself" while I was in Europe. I was brave, independent, excited to explore, less stressed etc. Prior to studying abroad, I have been overseas but I never. knew the full extent of the European healthcare system. As a public health major, I found this perspective of Universal Healthcare so beneficial but was also cognizant of the disadvantages that come with Universal healthcare. This opportunity to not only learn about Universal healthcare but also experience it was so fascinating to me which thus led me to question many of the systems in the United States. My long-term plan is to work with a global organization on better healthcare access and through my travels, I was able to experience the benefits and negatives, providing me with a whole new perspective.

I studied in Florence, Italy in the spring semester of 2022. I can’t even begin to explain my love for this city and I would never have been able to experience it without AIFS. I am interning this summer again through the same program and am counting down the days until I’m back!

The most incredible 3.5 months of my life! I met the most amazing people, professors, locals, food - everything. Everyday felt like a dream, it was very surreal. I wish to go back already, with partial regrets of ever feeling homesick, which is obviously a normal feeling. I think about being in Italy very often and will find myself reminiscing on my old photos and videos nightly. If you are given the opportunity to study abroad - DO IT!! This was one of the most experiential things I’ve done in my life. The freedom of being able to travel each weekend and be adventurous to try new foods and meet new people really gives a new outlook on the world and life! There are so many wonderful cultures, people, lessons many people won’t understand or learn without the abroad experience. Being in Florence, everything was walkable and the views were incredible. I’ll never forget walking across the Ponte Vecchio every day to class. I was able to intern for a private chef/cooking company which was incredibly fun. My boss was soooo welcoming and loved to show me the culture of Italy. I miss the bottomless gelato, pasta, and wine!

Study abroad changed my life completely. Being in Rome, the culture was so strong and the ability to travel to different countries was very easy. The experience allowed me to learn a lot about myself and gave me a lot of confidence being more independent as I learned to navigate foreign landscapes. The staff at AIFS Rome was extremely helpful throughout the entire process start to finish and even after the program ended. I have been fortunate enough to find a job with AIFS as my universities student ambassador. Getting to tell students about my experiences is something I am very excited about.

Loved every second of it! Traveled to numerous countries, academics weren’t the hardest so I was able to have freedom when it came to exploring! Maynooth was a beautiful town, loved the shopping center. Everything was walkable and Ireland has excellent transportation.

I worked at Tablao de Carmen as a marketing and sales intern which combined my passions of both business and Spanish. From the lively work environment to the prime located accommodations and everything in between my experience was nothing but amazing! I worked closely with customers every day as well as had my own personal projects in the back office. The team was generous with our travel schedule and allowed us to experience other cultures around Europe as well. I even went to running of the bulls! Working abroad is something I will always highly recommend if you’re looking to push yourself outside your comfort zone and reap the rewards. I loved my study abroad experience in Prague! I lived in a whole country for a month with a great group of people!! During this time, I learned how to be confident and independent in a foreign country, engage with different groups of people, immerse in the culture, and grow past my comfort zone. The entire ECES and AIFS program were so helpful, engaging, enthusiastic about the program, us, and our well being. I felt like I belonged and I wish I could have stayed for longer than a month. If I had the option to study abroad again, I would go back and stay with Renata again for a semester in a heartbeat

From the moment I stepped into the museum, I was captivated by the rich maritime history that unfolded before my eyes. The museum's collection of artifacts, ship models, and interactive displays provided a comprehensive and engaging overview of the nation's maritime heritage. The internship itself was a fantastic learning experience. The museum staff was knowledgeable, passionate, and incredibly supportive, creating a conducive environment for professional growth. I had the chance to work on various projects, gaining hands-on experience that will undoubtedly shape my future in the field. However, one aspect that warrants consideration is the overall cost of living in Dublin. While the internship itself was an invaluable experience, the city's high living expenses were a notable challenge. Accommodation, meals, and transportation quickly added up, making it a bit of a financial strain. My experience in Ireland proved to be an exceptionally enriching moment, ranking among the most transformative encounters of my educational and personal development. In addition to acquiring valuable insights pertinent to my college major, I had the privilege of immersing myself in the local culture. Although Ireland didn't initially emerge as my foremost choice for my first European trip, I have no regrets whatsoever. Every facet of the journey, from the picturesque landscapes to the culinary delights, became a source of profound enjoyment. The nursing course I undertook exceeded expectations in terms of its informativeness. I appreciated the educational approach employed by the professor, which deviated from the conventional norms of STEM instruction. Contrary to the anticipated stress associated with such coursework, I found the learning environment to be conducive to absorbing a substantial amount of knowledge with remarkable ease. Transitioning from a community college setting to the experience of independent but also communal living with previously unfamiliar individuals, and adapting to a larger academic institution presented notable adjustments. However, the support and amiable assistance extended by program leaders, staff members, and the affable local community facilitated a seamless integration. This experience has become an indelible part of my narrative, continually serving as a testament to the acquisition of invaluable life skills. I enthusiastically encourage prospective students to explore the opportunities afforded by AIFS. Although study abroad was required for my major, the urge to go to another country has always been present. Doing my study abroad for the summer at Maynooth was the best experience of my life and something I can never stop talking about. Everywhere I went people were so friendly and I met some of my best friends while I was there. I always recommend people to go to Maynooth or study abroad in general!

I had the most wonderful time in Granada, Spain. I spent one month in the summer of 2022 in the most beautiful apartment in downtown Granada. It was my first time traveling alone and my first time leaving the country and the AIFS team made it such an easy and fantastic experience! Shout out to Noelia for being the most accommodating and the kindest human I have ever had the pleasure of interacting with.

The J-term is the perfect amount of time to immerse yourself in the culture, travel around to several other places, and meet tons of amazing people. I was able to explore five other cities in Italy, meet lifelong friends, that I still visit, and learn some of the language and day-to-day life as an Italian. I took class throughout the program with people I met along the way. Thank you AIFS for the memories!

I loved spending the semester in Costa Rica and I have no regrets about going. It was an amazing opportunity to get out of my comfort zone and really practice my Spanish skills. The excursions were great and the staff was so kind. I'd go back in a heartbeat!

I was unfortunate in not having a good internship. What I mean by that is there was some troubles getting along with not just myself, but with the program director as well. With that said, I met amazing people and made life-long memories. I would do it over again in an instant.

I did the January course in fashion marketing. It was the most magical time of my life. Memories made, new friends, amazing food, and incredible professors. I would do it again in a heartbeat. The accommodations were beautiful and a very quick walk to class. Everything was well organized.

As a first generation student, I was daunted enough already by the thought of studying abroad… even more so in a Spanish-speaking country! HOWEVER, the AIFS Granada Program was exceptional in its cultural integration and making sure I felt at home while I was there. I made friends I will have for life and made many memories together. I learned Spanish by being in a class taught only in Spanish… I honestly thought it couldn’t be done! I had the time of my life, got to see many places, and experience new things (fooood).

I was able to get an internship with So Others May Eat in Washington DC. SOME provides aid to the homeless population in Washington DC through housing, mental health services, dental, medical, career advancement and sustainable life long recovery for at-risk homeless individuals and families. As an intern for SOME, I was able to take part in all of the departments within the non-profit both hands on and managerial. All in all I learned so much in the field of public and global health, non profit management and community engagement. Due to the excellence and skills learned with this internship, I was awarded in our school’s internship scholarship contest this month in December. I represented the college of health and human services due to the accomplishments of the AIFS internship in Washington DC. As a first generation college student and first one to obtain a bachelor’s degree and almost masters degree in the MPA program, this internship has sky rocketed my career and passion to be in the field of public administration and non profit management. For someone who is new to the field of public service and public administration, I hope to continue more public service internships for more experiences and opportunities in the field.

However, the proximity of beds in shared rooms was the only minor inconvenience, particularly for those rooming with strangers. Fortunately, the amicable nature of all the program participants made such situations manageable. The class structure, with sessions lasting just under two hours, struck a perfect balance between learning and free time. The schedule allowed us to delve into fashion marketing concepts, with an emphasis on different designer houses. The workload remained light, thanks to the interactive and enjoyable nature of the coursework. Beyond the classroom, the program seamlessly integrated cultural activities and free exploration time. Museums, sightseeing tours, and spontaneous adventures enriched our understanding of the diverse fashion landscapes and histories of each city. The opportunity to immerse ourselves in local cultures added depth to our experiences. One valuable lesson from the program was the importance of budgeting. With an array of tempting opportunities, saying yes to everything ensured that no valuable experience was missed. The friendships forged during this journey are among my closest, and the shared interest in fashion among fellow students created a tight-knit community. I had the most wonderful time studying abroad in Wellington. Vic U is a great institution with plenty of courses to choose from, an active student life, and supportive staff. Wellington itself is a vibrant city with amazing food tons of things to do and wonderful people.

I learned so much about myself and met LIFE LONG friends. AIFS was super supportive throughout the entire process and was eager to help any student. My roommate is even coming to my hometown for New Year’s Eve. This is somthing everyone should do if giving the opportunity and I wouldn’t change a thing. Florence has a little piece of my ❤️

Going to Valencia, Spain through AIFS was a really good decision. I went in the fall of my junior year, which was the perfect time for me. I was immersed in the culture and met so many amazing, like-minded individuals along the way. AIFS provided me with an incredible program advisor, Janan, who acted like a mother to all of us. The pre-departure assignments were organized thoroughly on the portal but communication could be improved. By this I mean the time it took to get assistance to questions through email. Overall, I am very satisfied.

It was such a unique opportunity, not only being able to study a semester abroad but get the chance to have an internship as well. AIFS made it a very easy process leading up the start of the program which made it an easy transition once I got over there and am extremely appreciative of this experience I was able to have.

My favorite thing about this program was how the classes were structured. The classes often included field trips and going into the city to explore. It was such an effective way to learn and I really appreciated doing so much field work. Steve Bentel and Brian Ridgers were some of my favorite instructors I have ever had the pleasure to learn from. Dr. Bentel’s class Diversity in London was a particularly enjoyable class. One of our classes was spent doing a hostile architecture tour through London. This tour inspired my senior capstone project and sparked a passion of mine that I am still pursuing. Overall, the class structure at AIFS was one of my favorite things about the program.

My experience with AIFS in Barcelona was unforgettable and amazing. I was placed in an apartment with 5 other girls and it was easy to connect and create friendships. AIFS administrators made it easy to get situated and find my way around the Barcelona metro system and how to get to school from the apartment. The trips and activities were planned fairly well and enjoyable.

My experience studying abroad in Seville was one that I'll never take for granted. It truly was the experience of a lifetime. I opted for a homestay, which was the absolute best decision for me! My host mom was the kindest, most generous woman I have ever met. It was the hardest goodbye at the end of the semester, but I am still in contact with her! Living in a homestay provided me with a cultural immersion experience I will never forget. AIFS has various course offerings that appealed to me at the university. My favorite was Teaching English to Spanish Speaking Students. As an education major, this was an unforgettable experience for me in which I got to be the English teacher for a small group of student in one of the primary schools in Seville. Between my homestay, courses, friends, and travel experiences, my semester abroad in Seville was truly the best 4 months of my life.
