Dublin, Ireland | AIFS Review
August 21, 2025by: Claire Yancey - United StatesI chose AIFS because I liked the amount of guidance they offered while abroad, compared to other companies my university partnered with. I chose the Dublin, Ireland program, and felt supported by staff when debating which internship would be the best fit for me. One of my favorite experiences was the Causey Farm trip, which was planned by AIFS. It was a great way to get close to my roommates (there were eight of us total), and it was a great way to experience Irish music, dance, food, and landscape. I became very close with my roommates after that trip, and am confident that I have made some lifelong friends in them. I'd recommend AIFS to anyone who wants to live or intern abroad, but is intimidated by the idea of doing it alone.

A Breath of Fresh Air
December 28, 2023by: Wiam Salih - United StatesMy time an Ireland felt like a coming up for fresh air. The city was beautiful and peaceful. There was greenery everywhere; and it was tranquil. Coming to Ireland was difficult because I had never travelled out of the US alone before. But the second I landed I received nothing but hospitality. Arriving in Ireland I had beautiful conversations with the people. I was always left feeling full of energy. I met amazing people who I still see and talk to today. I will always hold the memories I had there close to my heart. It was the best summer of my life and I will forever be grateful for my time there.

What's the craic with AIFS?
December 27, 2023by: Nikheal Patel - United StatesI recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on an intern abroad journey with AIFS Abroad, specifically placed at the Marino Institute of Education in Dublin. From the outset, AIFS Abroad proved to be an exceptional facilitator of global experiences, and their commitment to fostering cultural immersion and professional growth was evident throughout my internship. One of the most commendable aspects of AIFS Abroad is the passion that permeates their team of 30+ world travelers. Their collective firsthand experiences of living, working, and studying abroad create a supportive and knowledgeable network. This team's shared love for exploration and cultural immersion became a guiding force in my own overseas adventure. AIFS Abroad's commitment to customization truly sets them apart. The international internship program I participated in was tailored to meet both my personal preferences and professional aspirations. This made the entire experience not only enriching but also uniquely mine. Their ability to strike a balance between fulfilling personal travel aspirations and providing valuable professional experiences is truly the best of both worlds. The professional attributes of my internship at Marino Institute of Education were enhanced by the seamless support provided by AIFS Abroad. The guidance and mentorship extended by both AIFS and the hosting institution created an environment conducive to personal and professional development. The internship was not just about completing tasks; it was about gaining a deep understanding of the local work culture and contributing meaningfully to the host organization. Socially, the experience was equally rewarding. AIFS Abroad facilitated cultural integration activities, ensuring that participants had ample opportunities to engage with the local community. From language exchanges to cultural outings, these activities fostered meaningful connections and helped me truly immerse myself in the vibrant tapestry of Dublin. The sense of community created by AIFS Abroad went beyond the workplace, contributing significantly to the overall richness of my time in Dublin. Culturally, Dublin provided a backdrop that exceeded my expectations. AIFS Abroad's local knowledge and support were instrumental in navigating the city's unique cultural nuances. Whether it was exploring historical landmarks, attending local events, or enjoying traditional Irish cuisine, AIFS Abroad played a vital role in making every cultural encounter memorable. My intern abroad experience with AIFS Abroad in Dublin was nothing short of transformative. Their commitment to customization, professional development, and cultural immersion created a holistic experience that surpassed my expectations. AIFS Abroad not only encouraged me to pack my bags and explore the world but also equipped me with the tools and experiences necessary to thrive in an increasingly globalized economy. My time in Dublin, thanks to AIFS Abroad, has left an indelible mark on my personal and professional journey, and I wholeheartedly recommend their programs to anyone seeking a truly enriching international experience.
A Memorable Maritime Adventure in Dublin
December 27, 2023by: Eve Courtenay - EnglandI recently had the incredible opportunity to embark on a two-month internship at the National Maritime Museum of Ireland in Dublin, and it was an experience I'll cherish for a lifetime. From the moment I stepped into the museum, I was captivated by the rich maritime history that unfolded before my eyes. The exhibits were not only informative but also beautifully curated, showcasing Ireland's deep connection with the sea. The museum's collection of artifacts, ship models, and interactive displays provided a comprehensive and engaging overview of the nation's maritime heritage. The internship itself was a fantastic learning experience. The museum staff was knowledgeable, passionate, and incredibly supportive, creating a conducive environment for professional growth. I had the chance to work on various projects, gaining hands-on experience that will undoubtedly shape my future in the field. However, one aspect that warrants consideration is the overall cost of living in Dublin. While the internship itself was an invaluable experience, the city's high living expenses were a notable challenge. Accommodation, meals, and transportation quickly added up, making it a bit of a financial strain. For those considering a similar opportunity, it's advisable to plan and budget carefully to make the most of the experience without compromising one's financial well-being. Despite the expense, Dublin itself is a vibrant city with a unique blend of history, culture, and modernity. Exploring the city during my free time was a joy, with its charming streets, friendly locals, and a plethora of cultural attractions. From the iconic Temple Bar district to the serene St. Stephen's Green, Dublin provided a perfect backdrop for my time away from the museum. In conclusion, my internship at the National Maritime Museum of Ireland was an enriching and fulfilling experience. The knowledge gained, the people I met, and the memories created will undoubtedly contribute to my personal and professional growth. While the cost of living in Dublin presented a challenge, the overall experience was well worth the investment. If you have the opportunity to intern at this remarkable institution, seize it – just be sure to plan your budget wisely!
I had a bad internship and I would still do it over again
December 27, 2023by: Devon Fenesy - United StatesI was unfortunate in not having a good internship. What I mean by that is there was some troubles getting along with not just myself, but with the program director as well. With that said, I met amazing people and made life-long memories. I would do it over again in an instant.
i had a great time!
December 27, 2023by: Jewel Star - United StatesI had an amazing time interning in Ireland. We had group meals and various events as well which was really fun, and I got to try a ton of new foods and explore a lot of new places. We went on day trips to places like Galway which was super fun!
Great Internship Experience
December 20, 2023by: James Reger - United StatesI had a great time working in downtown Dublin at a venture capital firm. I got the opportunity to work under two very interesting entrepreneurs that had a lot of experience and connections globally. I was very lucky to meet so many interesting people throughout this program. We met with CEOs and founders of many different startups with some even being Forbes 30 under 30 individuals. Each day I was working on something new and meeting new people. The internship class was very accommodating to my schedule and I truly came out of the internship with greater knowledge and perspective. Overall it was a great experience and I look forward to going back to Ireland someday.
Highly Recommend
December 16, 2023by: Megan Adams - United StatesThis was one of the best experiences I could have done as a college student. The experiences that were provided me to were extensive and allowed me flexibility and opportunities to grow not only as a young professional, but also in my personal development. Im so appreciative of everyone I met and helped to support me on this experience.

Immersed in the rich tapestry of Irish culture, I found myself navigating a landscape that seamlessly wove tradition and modernity. The warmth and openness of the Irish people created an environment where connections flourished effortlessly, fostering interpersonal skills that are invaluable in any professional setting. In the professional sphere, the dynamic work environment exposed me to diverse perspectives and methodologies, broadening my understanding of global business practices. The emphasis on collaboration and adaptability became engrained in my approach, enhancing my problem-solving abilities and resilience. On a personal level, the vibrant cultural scene ignited my curiosity and creativity. Exploring Dublin's historical sites, engaging in lively conversations in local pubs, and participating in traditional events enriched my worldview. The Irish emphasis on storytelling and the arts inspired me to communicate more effectively and think innovatively. Ultimately, my time in Ireland catalyzed a profound growth within me. Memories to last a lifetime!
December 18, 2019by: Jannene Olson - United StatesI carefully researched Internship programs abroad and I am so glad I chose Global Experiences (GE)! They leave no stone unturned in preparing you for success. My culinary employment was absolutely perfect! I was able to learn all aspects of culinary arts in an amazing establishment complete with an upscale grocer, wine cellar, delicatessen, cafe, butcher, catering, and fine dining. The accommodations were brand new and very nice. This program far exceeded my expectations. Dublin is easy to settle into. I felt very safe in this incredible international city. I would highly recommend GE without any hesitation. I experienced numerous once in a lifetime moments and will forever have wonderful memories of GE, Heyday Student Living, Dublin, and Ireland.
Amazing!
December 05, 2019by: Deven K - United StatesOverall, my experience in Dublin was very positive. GE gave great support throughout the entire application and interview process. Once in Dublin, the move-in was seamless and we were given the opportunity to meet everyone in the program casually. I really enjoyed my internship, which was exactly what I envisioned from the beginning. I got hands-on experience and the opportunity to be fully immersed in the business world here, despite only being a junior in college. Other than the internship, GE organized so many activities which were spur of the moment or planned. My favorite was most likely the Belfast trip, where we got to do the Black Cab tour. Also, the scavenger hunt was so much fun and brought us to places in the city that we didn’t even know existed. My only issue with the program was the accommodation, which had great facilities. However, the administration there was very strict (they were encouraging a safe atmosphere) and made it seem as though we needed to check-in for everything we did in the city. As the semester progressed, the accommodation only got stricter. However, it was in a great location and the rooms were brand new. Dublin is the most amazing city and GE made it possible for me to experience it.
Memorable experiences
December 05, 2019by: Dara Anya - United StatesMy Fall 2019 Dublin internship in video production was a memorable experience. GE was transparent about the opportunity and fantastically advised and supported me from the introduction to the conclusion of my journey (there grants and scholarships to help finance this experience). I was pleased to have met all the kind interns in my program, as we spent time and encouraged one another. I can see many of them as becoming lifelong friends. My internship was a delight that exceeded my expectations. I was accepted into a marvelous team, whom I'm still in touch with. I was proud to have contributed - even if only a fraction - to the growth of such a remarkable company. I gained a variety of skills and experiences in the field of my interest. This was my first time living in a different country for an extended period. I was comforted to see similarities in people, food culture and entertainment. My personal interests are in film and writing. I was pleased to attend a variety of film festivals and to complete a screenwriting course at the Irish Writers Centre. Global Experiences is a great opportunity to travel, explore and professionally pursue your field of interest. When looking closely, you will find similarities and opportunities that match your interests wherever you go. From this experience I feel prepared to move onto the next chapters of my life and career. I recommend this program, but the decision is ultimately up to you.
Dream internship
December 03, 2019by: Indiana Caldwell - United StatesI found Global Experiences while searching for an internship program to complete during my gap year. The program helped me especially in building my resume/cv as a young professional who had just graduated high school. Not only did GE help me prepare myself to be a professional through preparing my application and interview techniques, but they also connected me with a dream job. GE matched me with a company so perfectly, I would recommend to anyone seeking to gain professional experience to apply to GE.
Greatest experience in my life!
December 01, 2019by: Abi Leyden - United StatesI spent my fall semester interning in Dublin and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! I developed so much both personally and professionally and feel that I have learned so much more about myself. I worked alongside some amazing professionals who allowed me opportunities to take on big projects and made me feel a part of a workplace community. The friendships and memories I made on this trip I will always cherish and it made it hard to leave Dublin behind. There are so many fun things to do in Dublin and Ireland and I loved every second of it.
Best summer of my life!!
August 31, 2019by: Charles Kaiser - United StatesThis summer I interned at Ozanam House, a resource center for the community in Dublin City. For two months I worked with some really amazing people who helped me out with getting situated in a new city and making sure I was okay. During my time there they would check in with me and always made sure that I was capable and comfortable with my work. I felt supported and cared for the entire time I worked there and I look forward to the day I go back. We would often go out after work at the end of the week and talk about stuff outside of work. You'll not find nicer or friendlier people than the people in Ireland.
Global Experience: Ireland
August 22, 2019by: Ryan Fattal - United StatesMy time in Ireland was not only full of cultural immersion, but self discovery and guidance for my future. The similarities between Irish and American lifestyles were stunning to come across. Even more shocking though were the minor differences that made it feel like a completely unique and valuable experience towards exploring the various cultures of the world. The amount of self-discovery I experienced through this program was the most valuable part of the experience, as it really showed me the priorities in my life, how I should approach those priorities, and how I organize, expand, and rely on my support network. The internship itself taught me many valuable new programs and methods of approaching problems that had never been presented to me before. It taught me much about the direction I want to head in after graduation and gave me many helpful references that I can reach out to as I progress through the upcoming years and phases of my life.
Find a new home overseas!
August 15, 2019by: Blake Moore - United StatesGlobal Experiences surpassed all of my expectations with this trip. First of all, applying to and setting up your internship is super easy, and GE staff guides you through literally every step of the process. Then, once you actually get it set up, the experience itself is beyond amazing. Dublin is an incredible city with something for everyone. Want to hit the beach? Go to Howth on a sunny day. Like a good pub crawl? You're spoiled for choice. Like history? Go anywhere in Dublin and you'll find plenty. There was never a day in Dublin where I was bored. The locals are so friendly and are full of stories too. After a few weeks, you'll feel like you really belong there. Our housing was stellar (not that we spent much time at home; so much to see and do!), and GE staff was always available to address and questions or concerns I or my friends my have had. I really recommend this experience to anyone who enjoys a bit of adventure. And if you're still on the fence, just remember that Dublin airport has super cheap flights to tons of other great European locales. We went to Amsterdam for the weekend on a whim!
Once in a life time!
August 15, 2019by: Nita Rrafshi - CanadaThe GE internship program is a must going into your young adult life. Volunteering abroad was an experience like no other. Meeting new people, getting work experience, discovering your likes and dislikes in your personal field, experiencing new culture, was priceless. Throughout this experience, not only did I get to meet people in my host city Dublin, however, I made friendships that will last forever with other GE students. As we worked through out the week, we also had the opportunity to travel Europe on the weekends. This GE experience made out to be the best summer ever.
An amazing opportunity
August 09, 2019by: Shannon Westlake - United StatesMy internship in Dublin was definitely one I won't forget. From what the staff at GE have told me, I felt prepared for what my internship had in store and was aware of my responsibilities beforehand. I was assigned to a social service organization that works with people with intellectual disabilities. They welcomed me on my first day, and understood that it had taken me time to adjust to my placement. My boss and coworkers were very friendly, and my placement included a daily commute outside of Dublin City to Dún Laoghiare, which is a beautiful place to be. Since I was working during my organization's summer program I did not have much room for professional development. However, I was still able to learn many new skills that I didn't think I would need, and ones that I can apply to my future career. By the end I can say that I will definitely miss the place that I was at, and I am thankful for the people at Global Experiences who helped put me there. Global Experiences had also planned a few social events for us throughout our program, which was a great way for me to meet new people and make new connections. I can say that I have thoroughly enjoyed the events they have planned, the sights I got to see, and the people I met along the way.
The Dublin experience
August 09, 2019by: Zack Davis - United StatesMy time in Dublin, Ireland was amazing and I would not trade this experience for anything in the world. I had never traveled outside of the United States before and I chose Ireland as my first destination and it was the best decision I could have made. From the time I arrived in Ireland, I was surrounded by great people from the program advisors to the Irish people themselves. Everyone made it easy for me to adjust to the new culture that I found myself in. My internship placement could not have been any better. The people I worked with were so friendly and helpful. They guided me when they could and let me figure somethings out on my own. My internship seems like it was tailor-made for me. The Global experiences team did a great job with finding it for me and it worked out perfectly. I also made some life long friends during this internship. There were so many great people from all over the world that participated in this program and our Global Experiences coordinators organized so many events to give us a chance to meet them and explore the great country of Ireland as well. I learned a lot through the Global Experiences excursions and through exploring the country with my fellow Global Experiences interns. I've loved every second of this adventure and I am thankful that Global Experiences help make it happen.
