Great program!

I really enjoyed my internship and this program! I had an amazing internship experience and got to meet life long friends along the way. I would definitely recommend this program to someone who want to have a work experience and study abroad! Especially, to someone who wants to build their resume. I know that’s what attracted me to this program. The housing accommodation was great good size rooms, kitchen and living room. Amazing support by advisors Amanda and Antonella. You are able to reach them at any point during experience and they will get back to you as soon as they can. Overall, I had a great experience and will cherish this period of my life forever.

Great experience

Overall, I had a great experience in Milan and am very grateful for the support and guidance offered by our program advisors. Although my internship was not the professional experience I had hoped for, living abroad and immersing myself in a new culture made the program worth it. If there had been clearer expectations about my role as an intern I think this could have helped me have a more valuable work experience. I would highly recommend this program to anyone looking for the opportunity to live abroad in a major city.

Great Experience

I had a great experience while interning abroad in Milan, Italy. I felt very supported while abroad by both AISF advisors, Amanda and Antonella. They went above and beyond to make my stay as comfortable as possible and catered to our needs. My internship placement was fantastic, I was often tasked with projects that can be used in my portfolio and I was fortunate enough to experience Milan Fashion Week and attend some of the events. Overall, I definitely enjoyed my experience and I will continue to remember this trip for years to come.

MILANO

Overall, this experience abroad was eye opening and amazing! I couldn't have asked for better program advisors, Antonella and Amanda. They were super welcoming and responsive. During my time, I was able to travel outside of Italy, explore Milan, and met lifelong friends which was one of my favorite parts about being here. However, my internship was not something I got to excel in professionally. I think the employer should be more honest on what the job entails to the intern and to AIFS because my responsibilities did not align with what I actually did during my internship.

Fashion Business Intern

The on the ground staff were super supportive and planned exciting events. The apartments are in a great location and everyone had spacious rooms. My internship contained busy work and I don't think I grow professionally. I'm a fashion marketing student but if I knew the fashion business internship consisted of photo copying and getting clients coffee I would have applied to a marketing-only position. The program ran very smoothly and was well structured but most of the winter students were not satisfied with their company placement.

Journalism Internship in Milan

My experience was unique because I was the only person on my program who had a remote internship. I feel as though I got off on the wrong foot because I was the only person who had Italian experience, so I was in a different class than the rest of the people in my program. This was no one’s fault, but I wasn’t able to get to know them as we were all on different schedules. The on-site staff, Antonella and Amanda, were so helpful in making all of us feel included and planning great events for us.

Best experience ever!

Global Experiences and AIFS allowed me to have to the best experience of my life. It allowed me see a new country without being completely alone! I made amazing friends I will have for the rest of my life and see amazing places i only dreamed of! The internship was a great experience and I worked with amazing people. This program is definitely something I have not stopped recommending to people since I’ve been back!

The best personal & professional development

I grew so much personally & professional during my internship abroad in Milan. The experiences, places, and people my internship introduced me to are true global connections. My placement coordinator got to know me & my professional goals, the local coordinators were extremely helpful and cared for students’ success. I had a great experience with AIFS!

Nonstop and Exciting

My experience in Milano this summer was fantastic. I loved my internship and my boss, Rosella Cavioni, for the job experience and sewing skills it has given me for the rest of my life, especially going into this upcoming school year.

Great for a new experience!

I had such a unique experience here during this program. I really enjoyed exploring the city and having great advisors who were giving their all to us 24/7, but unfortunately the company for my internship placement was not a good fit. Regardless, it seems like I received the short end of the stick and most others enjoyed their jobs. Overall, I would 100% do this again had I been placed with another company.

The best experience I could have had

I had an amazing time despite its ups and downs. There were a lot of opportunities to expand personally and professionally. There was a lot of freedom to experience Italy and the amazing culture. Once you find yourself on your feet, it's an incredible journey.

I love Milan

Cons: - living situation: no AC, 8 people in an apartment which can be too crowded especially when there’s only one kitchen, students weren’t explicitly told that we’re responsible for buying toilet paper, sponges, dish soap, etc - maintenance people took weeks to fix the hot water and to provide every bedroom with a trash can - if you’re introverted, you may have a hard time making friends because everyone else is extremely extroverted - wished the program coordinators walked us from our apartment to language class on the first day Pros - I loved my graphic arts placement, had the opportunity to apply my drawing skills, photoshop and illustrator skills, even a little bit of web dev - Amanda was amazing, she responds quickly and gives great advice for everything, excellent problem solver, helped me locate my lost luggage and receive compensation from flight company - field trips were a lot of fun, visited Verona, lake Como, watched the Barbie movie as a class, had aperitivo together - lots to explore in Milan, learned Salsa at a bar, met a lot of interesting people, many interesting places to visit

Summer in Milano!

Spending this summer abroad has been a special experience. Living in a villa with the majority of my program made sightseeing, commuting to work, going out, and running errands super convenient and I’ve loved making memories with everyone. My favorite times were day trips and group aperitivos organized by our wonderful coordinators Amanda and Antonella!

Amazing Experience

I loved my time here because of the people I was with and the activities planned by Amanda and Antonella. My internship was so educational and I felt as it really gave me a lot of experience. The housing was nice and I always felt safe, but the maintenance did not fix our problems, like no hot water or bad wifi.

FASHION IN MILAN

This was a great experience glad to have had it. I got the I meet a lot of great people who helped make this trip really memorable. the living situation could have been better due to maintenance issues.

Morgan OlsenUnited States · August 2023

will remember this forever

I loved this opportunity and I will be forever thankful that I got to participate. I will say that it was expensive and that it was a bit unfair that everyone was doing so much different levels of work for their internships. I was doing a lot of work for my placement even outside of work hours and there were people doing a lot less but I will say I learned so much and that I gained a lot of professional experience.

Essence Lorez baileyUnited States · August 2023

So much fun!

I really enjoyed the experience of living with 18-19 other people! As much as it had its ups and downs it was fun getting to know each other through the organized trips, language school, and fun advisors.

Curtis LamUnited States · July 2023

One of the best experiences of my life

The program itself is very well organized and thought out. I haven’t had a single problem and if I ever had one the staff would be extremely accommodating and make it their best effort to help fix it. Overall the trip was very smooth and fun.

Tallula AumanUnited States · July 2023

Italy is amazing!

This trip in Italy has been AMAZING! I have so enjoyed all of the activities, planned by the coordinators and not. Speaking of coordinators, Amanda and Antonella have been awesome! They are super supportive and really want to help us have the best experience. I am not as satisfied with my internship and wish there had been more communication about what exactly I wanted to do (fashion). Nonetheless, I have still enjoyed getting to know my coworkers.
