I can’t stop talking about this trip
September 28, 2022by: Julia Curtis - United StatesMy internship experience in Taiwan was so good that I’ve turned into one of those really annoying people who never stop talking about their ‘unforgettable trip abroad’. For me that’s literally reality, because my trip to Taiwan was unforgettable. From the moment I stepped off the airplane, I somehow knew this was the place for me. It was at that point I really felt lucky to be working in such an amazing country! It’s definitely not easy to find an internship in Taiwan by yourself, and in fact a lot of the expats I met over there were amazed when I told them because the didn’t know they existed! Having Meiji take care of all the admin was so awesome, I felt like a VIP hopping off a plane and straight into a new job. The internship was with a real estate company operating in the outskirts of Taipei. They involved me in all of their projects and pretty much treated me like a normal member of staff. While some may see this as a no-mercy approach, this was exactly what I was looking for, and it gave me so much room to grow. I had no problems throughout my stay in Taiwan, but I knew if I did I could always count on Meiji to guide me through them. They couldn’t have provided a better service! I would recommend an internship abroad in any country - not just Taiwan. But if you do, don’t do it alone! I doubt any of this would have been possible without Meiji holding my hand throughout.
Working holiday
September 07, 2022by: Martin William - AustraliaI completed an internship in Taiwan as part of my working holiday there. During the time I met a variety of business professionals, had alot of fun learning new skills and also made contacts which have invited me to work for them after my working holiday visa has ended. Meiji Internships offered a very professional service - they always went the extra mile to assure I was settled in. It was a great experience and one which leads me onwards towards my career goals and aspirations in Asia
Turned me into a new person
August 31, 2022by: Samantha Golding - New ZealandIf you asked me any question about Taiwan a few months ago, I wouldn’t have been able to give you an answer. I was pretty regretfully ignorant towards Taiwan, and really unprepared for what it had in store for me. This internship gave me practical skills that can be used in real-life as well as the opportunity to develop and change on a personal level. There’s something about being a foreigner in another country - it’s like being on another planet. It felt like I’d been thrown into this far away land where nobody knew my name nor my story. Communication was often difficult but it was the struggles like this that really helped me develop. I not only learned a lot about Taiwan and Asian culture, but also a lot about myself. You could definitely say that working in Taiwan was an eye opening journey for me. I made friends and even more memories, I found new fascination for things I’d never even thought of before. Being in Taiwan really showed me true happiness, I believe that anybody and everybody would came back from Taiwan a happier person.
Highly recommend this program
August 19, 2022by: Lewis Rose - United KingdomEverybody in Taiwan is so friendly, living there during my internship was so pleasant! I made good friends and even better memories, I’ll take this experience forward with me for years to come. I only wish I could say a proper thank you to everybody involved with making this trip so memorable for me.
Asia's best-kept secret
August 17, 2022by: Mila Jacobs - BelgiumTaiwan has got to be one of the best countries I’ve ever visited! Life here is so relaxed and worry-free, I’m considering a longer term future here after my Working Holiday Visa ends. I did a 3 month internship here with a finance firm, and really got a good grip on the ins and outs of Taiwanese working culture. The process was very easy as Meiji took care of everything for me (company arrangements, accommodation, SIM Card, etc.) so it really helped take away a lot of the stress of moving to another country.
Best country in the world, no questions.
August 09, 2022by: Alex Ward - AustraliaMy time in Taiwan really introduced me to all the best aspects of the country, and I can now say hands down that it’s the best country in the world. The people are amazing, the infrastructure is great, the food is fantastic… even if it’s not for an internship, I would urge everybody to visit sometime. Meiji did a great job putting together my internship in Taiwan. The host company was an absolute dream to work with, the work was fun and I was relieved to know that I could have a proper laugh everyday with my English-speaking colleagues. The apartment they put me in was also great, super central location and surprisingly spacious. Loved every minute of my internship!
Mixed feelings but unforgettable time
May 04, 2022by: Tina Wang - BelgiumMy first internship abroad and also did it at my father's home country was an experience I will never forget. I interned at an import & export company in Khaosiung. The tasks were new to me and sometimes difficult to understand but I tried my best and received good feedback after my 2-months internship. Meiji was really helpful and assisting. I was concerned if I could eventually go because the country is literally closed down to all foreigners and visitors. But my father is Taiwanese and thus there was no problem with the visa situation to enter. I do have to mention Taiwan felt so different during this pandemic. No foreigners, less vibrant night markets and something was missing... The accommodation they placed me was amazing, clean and in a green neighborhood. The social life was good but somehow the fellow foreigners were missing. I do hope the pandemic will come soon to an end and Taiwan will be open again to ALL PEOPLE!
Culture shock is temporary
April 06, 2022by: Ivan Schultz - CanadaTaiwan is more than just a safe place to travel, it is a paradise. I was just looking for a place in Asia to intern at and after seeing the options Meiji had (and plenty of research on the internet) I went with Taiwan. Guys you really don't need to speak the language or be crazy about a particular culture, once you're here you will fall in love automatically. I can't speak for other asian countries as this is my first experience in the continent, but there are just so many things to do and once the culture shock is gone and you stop thinking about missing home the experience is like no other, I swear. The internship itself is cool and exciting enough, the process was simple and the guys at Meiji Internships are just an email away if I ever happen to need some, Iv'e needed their assistance a couple times (paperwork, wifi issues) and they were there to rescue me. I'd be a little lost if I just came without them... oh and you can get your uni credits so if that's whay you need go ahead and call these guys for sure!
Incredibly wonderful
May 16, 2020by: Andrew Beck - United StatesI wish I never woke up from this wonderful dream! I spent a wonderful month in Taiwan. For the first time in my life, I felt like I was doing exactly what I wanted without having to force myself. I did a web design internship in Taipei, and I felt right at home during this internship. I love to create things and discovered a real passion for web design. Being surrounded by professionals helped me gain confidence and acquire a solid skill set. Meiji Internships staff was very attentive and helped me mingle with the locals and other foreigners on site. The activities were great and I created wonderful memories that I will never forget. Taiwan is an incredible country and the landscapes are breathtaking. I did not know much about this country, but I am happy to have dared to take up the challenge!
Thrilling!
March 15, 2020by: Sadie Chavez - United KingdomI didn't know anyone in Taiwan and it felt good to know that the Meiji staff was there to guide me. I definitely recommend you to join the weekly activities with them. It is important to have a community when you are in an unknown country. Who knows? Maybe you will make friends for life. In Taiwan, I found myself more adventurous than I thought. I went sightseeing alone, I spoke easily to Taiwanese people and was not afraid to speak imperfect Chinese and I even went hiking in the wild nature for the first time in my life! Meiji Internships connected me with a great host company. They treated me very well and helped me to have the best experience! I made sure to take advantage of every opportunity to stay busy and learn as much as possible. This was an experience that I will never forget! Thank you so much for trusting me in this adventure!
Very good investment
March 11, 2020by: Astrid Stoll - GermanyIt is very exciting to meet people who are very passionate about their work. The skills and experience I got during this internship will be a huge advantage for me when I am on my job hunt. Taiwan is a very beautiful country and Meiji internships gave me the chance to explore it while providing me with all the support I needed. I personally did not have much experience in traveling on my own in a foreign country so I wouldn't have gone far without their help. The staff is very approachable and always ready to grab for a bite after work. What I will miss most about Taiwan is, first of all, the people. My father says that in order to succeed in life, you need to get close to positive people who are pushing you. I think I finally met those people. I will also miss the nature and food. I was having so much fun in tasting new food every day and sightseeing around.
Taiwan experience: awesome!
February 20, 2020by: Aubrey Collins - United StatesMy internship in fashion design was wonderful! I helped my colleagues design new clothes for their brand. It was an unique situation for me to use my skills and develop new ideas for a real project. I don't speak Chinese, but everyone could speak English quite well so it was no problem. I wasn't their first intern so they were used to teaching things and giving feedback. They said that it is a great advantage to recruit interns because new people means fresh ideas and that everyone has their own style. When I applied, I didn't know how it would all work in terms of visa, paperwork and so on, but Meiji Internships' staff were very receptive and they answered all of my questions. They also helped me when I arrived, they picked me up from the airport and provided me with a bunch of cool services. I grew a lot thanks to this internship, and now I have a beautiful CV and lots of great memories!
Great achievement
February 18, 2020by: Bram Linden - NetherlandsI applied for this internship because I wanted some work experience to help me find a job after graduation. These days if you don't have any experience, it's so hard to find a good job! I can say that I reached my goal and got a lot of knowledge. I managed the company database, analyzed various business models and learned a lot about the global job market. My overall experience was fantastic. Meiji Internships staff are all amazing people, really caring about making us spend a wonderful time. I had never left Europe before this internship and was a bit nervous as expected, but they provided me with all the necessary information and arranged everything for me in Taipei.
In the country of bubble tea
February 14, 2020by: Tremblay Tremblay - CanadaSo much fun in Taiwan! My stay was fantastic and I am so happy that I did this internship in Taiwan. At first, I really wanted to go to Japan, but I eventually changed my mind because I have visited Japan several times and I needed something more challenging. I didn't have any experience in HR, but they taught me everything little by little and after 3 months I felt confident and I was able to do (almost) everything by myself! I was doing full time (9 am-6 pm, 5 days/week) so I was quite busy on the weekdays. But during the weekends I didn't want to just stay in all day and always went outside, visiting the city and drinking Bubble Tea (I drunk so many!). One of my colleagues showed me how to prepare it myself: in Taiwan, you can buy packs of tapioca balls and make them yourself!
Awesooome Taiwan!!!!
January 17, 2020by: Manon Georget - FranceOmg guys I'm so happy to share my feedback with you! My internship in Taiwan was crazy! I fell in love with this country so much. I made amazing encounters and my work there was so pleasant! I was basically doing digital marketing (Facebook, Instagram, blog writing etc) for a guesthouse in Taipei and I really enjoyed doing that. I was also helping with the reception sometimes and I met with so many people! The owners of the guesthouse were really nice to me. One of them had done marketing studies so he taught me all I needed to know. We often had dinner with the team so we became quite close, also with the travelers who came to the guesthouse. They gave me a few days off so I could travel a bit. I went to the Taroko National Park, it was wonderful!! Please, don't hesitate to fulfill your dreams!!
A so wonderful country and beautiful culture
December 17, 2019by: Grace Dior - United StatesThe best Asian country I've visited so far!! Taiwan is full of surprises, the culture is incredible and the company I interned with was just perfect. The staff of the company was so nice to me, they always invited me to go eat after work (I worked mostly with three women) and they offered me some snacks almost every day at the office. ^^ Two of them had very good skills in English, so I could always ask them when I had some questions. I had to speak in Chinese with the other one, but it was a great opportunity to improve my Chinese as well. Taiwan is so beautiful, seriously guys, I definitely have a crush on this country haha! I've been to other Asian countries before, but Taiwan is my favorite place and I hope I can go back there soon to visit my host company again and continue discovering new nature spots.
Taiwan business development internship
December 03, 2019by: Andrea Alfaro - SpainFrom the minute I applied to the last day of my internship, Meiji did a great job in assisting all my requests and helping me out with the whole organization of my trip to Taiwan. My experience in Taiwan was really amazing and I had opportunity to intern with an IT company in Taipei in my field of interest. I acquired a lot of transferable skills, organized meetings for my supervisor and also managed the logistics behind a large convention we helped organizing with several other companies in central Taipei. Just make sure not to hesitate when colleagues try to give you new tasks. Even if you might be unsure on how you will perform. I found out it is always better to try something new and challenge yourself. Don't hesitate and consider Taiwan as it is the best place for networking and also making professional business contacts for your career. Much love and all the best to my host company and all the cool staff at Meiji!
Pays off!
November 29, 2019by: Toby Martin - United KingdomDefinitely worth it! Made a lot of friends, learned quite a bit about acquiring new clients and how to mediate in a Taiwanese work environment with international clients from Japan, China and Singapore. In the next few years, I am planning to obtain an MBA from a top university. Two of their main admission prerequisites are solid recommendations and work experience. Luckily, I now possess such a letter of recommendation thanks to my business development internship in Taiwan. Many applicants have recommendations from their internship supervisors, but few have any from international companies, let alone big Taiwanese firms! Hence, I believe it was a good choice to do my internship in Taiwan and am positive it will pay off once the acceptance letters come rolling in.
IT Internship
September 22, 2019by: Cécile Léonard - FranceThis summer I had a fantastic time interning in Taiwan. The experience was everything I wanted it to be and more. While I primarily study IT at uni, I also took classes in Mandarin. For that my internship was ideal. I could practise my language skills while deepening my coding and programming skills. I found the Taiwanese working culture to be quite different from the French. That’s why I would recommend anyone to read up on Taiwanese business manners or even take classes on how to do business before going. There are many good books. Sure, you can also get by without knowing the proper etiquette, but behaving to the cultural standards leaves a better impression than saying “sorry am foreigner“ at all times. If you have an open mind and would like to intern in a country that is still relatively off the beaten (career) track, I recommend Taiwan!
Hidden paradise on high tech island
September 15, 2019by: Juhani Saarela - FinlandMy two months business development internship in Taipei was a blast! On my first day, there was not too much time left with orientation. I was directly asked how much I want to get involved and I told them as much as possible. I really liked their fast-moving attitude as I was a bit concerned that I would have to go through paper filing and making tea for the first week at least. I was handed several tasks from following up on our supply chain management and how we could improve certain logistical hurdles we had with current suppliers. They even let me do a research in trying to find other manufacturers we might be able to partner. Most of my colleagues could speak English, but the overall communication between them was in Chinese obviously. I should mention that I have been before to China and Thailand once for holidays, but not to Taiwan. I wasn't expecting such a huge and innovative tech startup scene with a lot of international entrepreneurs and all types of technology-oriented conventions to be hosted there. My accommodation was also great. I chose to stay in one of Meiji's private apartments and everything was perfect. Clean, well equipped and close to public transportation. The only drawback was my Japanese style low bed that I had to get used to in the beginning but started really liking it afterwards :) Make sure to get out on weekends. Not just for amazing clubbing around Taipei101 and the city center, but also for some great hiking spots and beautiful beaches in Kenting I went for surfing!!! XieXie Meiji Internships and a shout out to the great support you guys gave me during my stay.
