IOM plays a crucial role in facilitating safe and orderly migration, protecting the rights of migrants, and supporting efforts to harness the benefits of migration for both individuals and societies. Its work is guided by the principles of humanitarianism, respect for human rights, and the promotion of sustainable development. The IOM Internship Programme offers students the chance to familiarize themselves with IOM's operations, acquire valuable initial work experience, and develop knowledge across various migration-related fields. Interns receive on-the-job training, benefiting both themselves and the organization. Additionally, internships foster partnerships with academic institutions and universities. Annually, IOM hosts numerous interns across its global offices. Interns will be assigned tasks and responsibilities that match their academic and professional background; and they are supervised by a mentor or supervisor. This program lasts from two to six months in duration (preference is for interns who can commit to at least six months), with a maximum duration of nine months.
