Arts and Culture Internship (Cultural Museum)

IGS has placed students in some of the world’s most exciting museums. Our internship placements typically fall into two categories: working on the floor or conducting research and marketing behind the scenes. Floor work includes assisting the docent in the setup and interpretation of current exhibits and galleries. This may include constructing backdrops and computer modeling. Once the exhibit is in place, you are asked to learn the history of the showcased items and share your knowledge with the visiting public. Behind-the-scenes work may include conducting original research on life histories or local historical events. This may include online research and library visits. Likewise, you may be asked to conduct interviews in the community and record knowledge that is in danger of being lost forever. Duties are usually associated with the following: Set up exhibits Conduct online research Interpret for the public Interview local residents Write for the museum’s website Social media outreach

IES Abroad Nantes – French Language Immersion & Area Studies

Our French Language Immersion & Area Studies Program has two important goals: to improve your written and verbal proficiency in French through language and area studies courses and to introduce you to contemporary France and its role in the European Union. A beautiful city on the Loire River, Nantes is the perfect place to perfect your French. For more than 50 years, this program has been offering students the opportunity to fully integrate into French society and function completely in French, thanks to the program’s focus on full immersion and the fact that there are few Anglophones in Nantes. This program has a close relationship with the Université de Nantes, so you will have many opportunities to enroll in local university courses. IES Abroad courses are taught in French by native French faculty, many of whom are professors at the Université de Nantes. You also have access to the university libraries, computer labs, cafeterias, and sports facilities, and you are welcome to join student clubs and other social and sports organizations. Qualifications 4 college-level semesters of French

Studying abroad in Nantes with IES Abroad was an incredible and transformative experience that I will cherish for a lifetime. From the moment I arrived in this charming French city to the day I left, IES Abroad ensured that every aspect of my study abroad journey was not only enjoyable but also enriching. Academic Excellence (5/5): The academic program at IES Abroad in Nantes was top-notch. The courses were thoughtfully designed to integrate French language and culture, allowing us to immerse ourselves in both the language and the local way of life. The professors were not only experts in their fields but also passionate about helping us succeed. I felt challenged academically, which was exactly what I was hoping for in a study abroad program. Cultural Immersion (5/5): Living with a host family was one of the highlights of my experience. It provided me with a unique opportunity to engage with locals, practice my French, and gain insights into French culture that I wouldn't have had otherwise. IES Abroad also organized cultural excursions and activities that allowed us to explore Nantes and other regions of France. Working for an art gallery is my dream! And to do it in Paris is way beyond my expectations. Everyday, there are prepared different units of the gallery. And everyday there are some seemingly daunting tasks. But I am glad that my supervisors are mentoring me all throughout the process. I also did some research, printed some captions, worked with the marketing and creatives team. This internship gave me my dream and I would always cherish it. <3 I would like to give my sincerest thanks to the IGS group for this amazing adventure. Your programme opened doors for me to meet a lot of people and travelled different places.
